As you were getting ready to leave the house, you hear you mom talking in the background.

“Aw, you met her boyfriend? That’s so lovely. I wish my daughter would find a nice man soon…but no-,” you sigh loudly so that she would hear.

“Are you ready?” you asked in a sassy tone.

“Yeah, I think I’ll have to call you back. Bye, talk to you later!” she hung up and looked at you.

“Well let’s go then, Ms. Sassypants,” your mom declared. On her way out the door, she grabbed her purse and keys.

You rolled your eyes and followed her out. When you got into the car, you sat in the passenger seat and buckled your seat belt. When your mom got herself situated in her seat, you replied to her comment earlier.

“I’m only like this because of how you talk about me.”

“Well, what am I supposed to do about the fact that you won’t get a boyfriend? You’re around the prime of your life and I’m wondering if I’ll ever get a son-in law,” she reasoned.

“Maybe in due time I will, just not right now,” you replied. You somehow managed to shift the topic to something different up until when you arrived at the grocery store.

“Okay, so I have a list and I want to get out of here pretty quickly, so you can go get the pantry items while I get the refrigerated things.”

“Mm,” you hummed in compliance. You grabbed a basket near the entrance of the store and parted ways with your mom.

As you were walking through the aisle looking for a reasonable priced bag of noodles, you noticed a guy around your age was standing right in front of where you needed to be. Better look for the next thing on my list…

When you checked your part of the list your mother had ripped, you noticed that pasta sauce was listed. Great, same aisle. I guess I’ll just pass by him and go where I need to.

You walked past him without looking, muttered a small “sorry” for blocking him. He glanced at you and gave you a hand gesture to let you know he didn’t mind.

While looking for pasta sauce, which was placed on the opposite side of noodles further down the aisle, you managed to steal a few glances at the stranger. You noticed his sharp jawline, his astounding eyes, and his auburn hair covering his forehead as he was focusing on which bag to buy. When he sensed you looking at him, he looked your way. You quickly diverted your eyes back to the pasta sauce, and he let out a small laugh. You were about to die of embarrassment. Oh well, at least I won’t see him again…

When he finally left the aisle to look elsewhere, you moved over to find a bag of noodles. Check. You shop for the other things on your list in a flash, and sooner than later, you’re on the last item. Finally, sugar. You left the aisle to look for the sugar. As you were about the enter the aisle, you notice the same guy standing in that exact aisle. Of course…

You debate whether to just wait it out or to go in the same aisle. In the time you took to choose an option, it was already too late. He made his way out the aisle and turned to see you just standing them. You were caught off guard, so you ended up smiling awkwardly. He smiles back at you and makes his way to the line. As he walked away, you caught a whiff of cologne. Masculine, nice.

You walked down the aisle and grabbed ‘the best’ bag of sugar. You realized that the sugar was the last thing, and go to find your mom. She was just about finished as well, and she told you to wait on line.

You looked at all the lines and decided to line up behind the shortest one. Your mom shortly joined you after. And of course while waiting, she decides to pick up the same conversation.

“I still don’t understand why you can’t get a boyfriend,” she starts.

“Mom! We’re in the grocery. Do you have any sense of privacy?” you yell in a hushed tone.

“Well I mean it’s not like I won’t bring it up later. Besides, there’s no one here to embarrass you. Now, tell me, why?”

Tired of your mother’s nagging, you decide to give her a hunch.

“Actually…there’s someone I’ve taken an interest in…” you hesitate.

“Really? Who! Tell me about him!” she exclaimed.

You panick. You thought that telling her you like someone would be enough, but now you have to explain him too? You nod to her and look around as if you’re looking for words to describe him, when in reality, you’re looking for someone to describe. While wandering, your eyes are caught on someone in front of you. More specifically, someone you’ve seen before.

“Well,” you begin, “he’s really charming. He has beautiful auburn hair, and a very sharp jawline. Quite attractive,” you described. He picks up bits and pieces of your conversation, thinking you’re describing your boyfriend. Sounds like someone I know, though?

“Something in particular I like about him are his eyes. They’re really something. They really nice when he’s looking for things. Also, he smells nice and manly. Weird, but it adds to the effect.” You finish.

He starts giggling to himself. It’s me she’s talking about. You didn’t see him do so since you were too relieved over the fact you got your mom to stop bugging you. You didn’t take into consideration that sooner or later that she’d want to meet him…but that’s to worry about later.

When your mom payed for all the items, she rolled a cart right in front of the bathroom.

“I’ll be right back, and watch these while I’m gone,” she says, leaving you with the cart. You look at the things you got while waiting, to make sure you didn’t forget anything.

Almost out of nowhere, you hear a voice behind you say, “You think I’m attractive?” You nearly screamed as you turned around, but you noticed it was the same guy you were describing. Still nerve wracking.

You laugh nervously as you replied, “Haha, sorry. My mom was bugging me about finding a boyfriend so I thought I’d just describe someone I saw…sorry.”

He frowned.

“So you don’t think I’m attractive?”

“What? No! I mean, no that I don’t find you-, wait I mean…I mean yes that I find you attractive!”

He smiled, pleased that he got an answer.

“I’m Jaebum,” he held his hand out to you.

“I’m Y/N,” you took his hand, blushing.

“Maybe we can exchange numbers and two attractive people can grab a coffee sometime?”

At a loss for words, you nod slowly.

“Great! Here, you can put yours in my phone and I’ll text you later or something.”

You took the phone and entered your number, deciding to trust this guy.

“Okay, cool! I’ll text you later, Y/N. It was cool meeting you!”

“You too,” you replied. Nearly right after, your mom comes out to find you in a daze.

“What’s wrong with you?” she asks.

“Huh? Oh, nothing,”
