#1. if you want to see a black hole tonight, just look in the direction of sagittarius. that's the center of the milky way galaxy, and there's a raging black hole at the very center of the constellation that holds this very galaxy together.

#2. when you look at the night sky, you're actually looking back in time. I'm talking millions and trillions of years back.

#3. 90% of your body is stardust. we're all made of starstuff.

#4. the nearest galaxy to our own is the andromeda galaxy. it's several times bigger than the milky way, and it's moving at a speed of 160km per second, toward us. in another 4 billion years, it will collide.

#5. you have two eyes. each has around 130 million photoreceptor cells. each cell has around 100,000,000,000,000 atoms. that's more than all the stars in the milky way. but each one of those atoms formed in a star, trillions of years back. and now they're in our eyes.

#6. given enough time, hydrogen begins to wonder where it came from, and where it is going. and you know how we know that? we're the hydrogen.

#7. there is a planet in the universe, where it rains glass, sideways.

#8. every planet has it's own magnetic field. without this magnetic field, we humans would not be able to survive, as this field protects us from nearly all of the solar flares that the sun regularly fires out. but at the poles of the earth, the magnetic field is weaker. some of the sun's flares and particles mix in our atmosphere, creating light. these are the northern and southern lights.

#9. the largest known star in the universe is vy canis majoris, in the constellation of canis major. it is so large - a hypergiant red star - that the sun would be a speck of dust next to it. the sun is massive compared to the earth, so you can imagine how big vy canis majoris is.

#10. a misconception of stars is that red stars are hot and blue stars are cold. it's actually the opposite. blue stars are extremely hot as they are young. as they grow older, they cool down, expanding in size, and glowing red.

there's so much to know about the universe. and so little time.

yozora

Hey there. ^^/! Nice to meet you, welcome to my very interesting profile xD Hope you had fun with the trivia up there? xD

So, time for introduction! Yosh!
You can call me Ayu ^^ That's actually part of my surname, but... well, most of my friends call me by this. I'm a 19 year old university student. I'm currently in the second stage of my finance course (which I absolutely HATE btw, don't ask why I'm doing it #_#). I have three dogs and three cats, all adopted ^^ I've been a vegetarian since birth and always plan to remain one ^^

Hobbies... hobbies xD Well, I listen to music, like most of you out there :O~ Varied genres though >< There was a point of time when I used to listen to nothing except Jpop, Jrock and Kpop. But lately my interest in Kpop is dwindling Q_Q I dunno why. Maybe because Kpop's changed a lot over the last two years and... well, everything's different T_T
That said, my favorite bands would be the second generation ones :D SS501, SHINee, B2ST, Big Bang... those that were born in those times ^^ I'm not a fan of EXO though I have nothing against them :P

Other than that, I listen to house, progressive house, dubstep, melodic dubstep, DnB, chillstep, glitch hop, celtic music, OSTs, soundtracks etc etc xD I like eating. o~o I draw, sometimes, though I like scenery more than human portraits xD I'm a rookie designer here on AFF, and own a solo shop called Interstellar.

But my name should make it obvious, I have a massive obsession with the universe, the cosmos, stars and the vast unknown lying far above the ground. That's my life.
