Does Gang/Mob stories draw attention anymore?

Hello, So after some time of having extreme writer's block and writer self-hatred (a common emotion in a writers life lol) I had a spurt of inspiration hit me while walking in the cold. It has a hold of me pretty strongly, and I have some intense desires to put it down on paper (again a welcomed feeling because it has been years) and I have a genuine interest in this. The walk had served to provide not only the story but the line, characters, plot twist, and ending. So if I actually wrote it, it would be the easiest planning I have ever done for a story/novel. Here's the kicker, that inner critic in me is holding me back. I don't know why exactly, but I have this feeling that the style of the story wouldn't serve to provide an audience. As the title states, it is a story based around gang's and that type of bad lifestyle and I am worried that the subject matter has been A) overdone and tired by now (hence no one would want to read) and B) something that no one would want to read anyway because of the crime drama genre tag. Long story short, do you think there would be an audience interested in this? Of course, I know that writing for the desire of views is not the right way of writing, and I am not doing that entirely. But I am only human and run into pitfalls of is this good enough, or would people care if I put in all this effort. I hate that about myself, but that is the reality. TL;DR: I have an interest in writing a crime drama and wonder if anyone would care to read it?

Write it. Crime stories aren’t out of style and you have a well-fleshed out idea. Don’t worry, honestly. It seems a lot of people still like the “bad guy” character so yeah, honestly. Write it. ^^’
