For Author. Subscribe, Comment, or Upvote?

I've asked something like this before. But, I'm still curious about something.

If you're an author, please choose which one of those three that you prefer from your readers.
1. Comment and Subscribe (excluding subscribers-only) : readers give a comment and subscribe to your story without upvoting. For subscribers-only story, they won't unsubscribe even after they're done reading your story.
2. Subscribe and Upvote (excluding subscribers-only) : readers give subscribe and upvote to your story without commenting (silent readers). For subscribers-only story, they won't unsubscribe even after they're done reading your story.
3. Upvote and Comment (excluding subscribers-only) : readers upvote to your story and give a comment without subscribing. For subscribers-only story, they subscribe when they read your story, but after they're done, they're unsubscribe.

And if it's not a bother, can you write your reason in the comment why you choose what you choose? If you don't want to give any reason, it's alright. But please, vote. Thank you. Have a nice day. ^^

@reddoll123 Good points - thanks for clarifying. Also, after thinking about it more, it might (even if only subconsciously) be related to the fact that upvotes are used to select featured stories. In that way, upvotes are actually worth more than kudos.

@brithistorian Yeah I've noticed as well lol. I think it's been talked about on here before tho. They're kinda different things to ppl, like (imo) giving a kudos is like saying I like or love a fic. While on here an upvote is like saying I absolutely love a fic/would def recommend. You can like fics/appreciate the work a writer did, but not every fic is something you absolutely love, right? (It doesn't mean a fic is bad or anything tho for not having like 100 upvotes vs subscribers.)

As an aside, has anyone else noticed that upvotes here seem to be a lot rarer than kudos at ao3? Or is it just that I've stumbled onto people here who don't upvote a lot?

I love comments - I wish I'd get more of them. Upvotes are nice, but comments are really the gold standard.

Comments is enough. Although upvotes is nice and subscribe, comments really made me feel that you liked my story.

Most people think that commenting requires a lot amount of "effort" and some claim that they're too shy to write their comments or that they don't have anything to say about the story. That's fine with me, and I already gave up on "begging for comments" anyway. Therefore, I chose #2. Surely, pressing the subscribe & upvote button (if they enjoy the story) shouldn't be too hard, right?

I'd love the third one, but it doesn't make sense to me if you're not even subscribed to a story you upvoted and have commented on. For me, subscribing gives the impression that you are interested in the story in the first place. So I would choose the first one too. Recieving comments is rewarding.

how about subscribe upvote and comment xD
but I chose the first one bc it's sort of stupid to unsubscribe after you finish reading imo LOL
and comments are always nice
