what's your writing process like?

i guess i'm just really curious? for me, the description is usually the first thing i come up with and then the title and then a vague version of the plot. i try planning out the plot with short bullet points but i always get stuck when i actually try writing my story ;-;

what about you guys? is there any particular way you tend to do things or do you just wing it?

//don't mind me i'm just bored and scrolling through the site;;

I usually start with a basic feel or idea. Because I don't plan/have plot, I usually start with an action and basically brute-force the story LOL nah jk it just flows out of my brain. That's literally it though ;;;

Okay, this is a very good example of a very disorganized way of writing, but I started with . After that I would think about the message that I want to deliver. Those two are enough for me to make forewords and openings. When I write, I keep in mind that I should enjoy the writing more than rushing to finish it. I stop a lot to make sure that the words I'm writing are sincere and I really put my mind on it. I checked if my words could offend someone and also make sure that it keeps sound fun and detailed, but not lost its track. I also ask for opinions. This is one tricky thing. When I ask people's opinions, I make sure to pick only the good things. What I mean is opinions are good things for you to learn but you also can't forget about your style of writing

I usually start with the characters and the conflict. Then I choose what kind of timeline to use and plan every chapter & place them in certain order. After that I give more details for both characters and the events. When it's all set I write the first verse, delete half, write it again. At that point I usually cry and change few events to something else. Then I write around 4 more verses, use the best one, send it to the beta, correct it. Sometimes I send the corrected one to second beta, but not usually. If I use a cover, I get it before asking someone to betaread.

And finally I publish it, ask for a review, get a bad review and write it all again :D

usually, i do it like this:

- i'm on tumblr or instagram or u kno whatever
- inspiration !! whether it's a poem, a song, a text, whatever, ,, ,,
- vague plotting. i lay out what i want to happen throughout the story
- characters. i sort of write what each character is doing in the story + how they change throughout the story
- i usually don't decide endings which is why i never end up finishing fics LMao
- but then i work on an outline and then cry while trying to write
- my outline is a bunch of bullet points on crack

my writing process is; THE EXACT SAME AS YOUR! The moment I read this discussion I immediately remembered the way I write my stories. and yep, at first there's a lot of ideas but then they will magically disappear.

1. Inspiration slaps me in the face.
2. Find a one word title.
3. Decide the ending.
4. Start the story outline.
5. Use one sentence to describe each chapter.
6. Mess the outline.
7. Bleed.
8. Argue with the characters when they do not follow the flow.
9. Throw everything against the characters.
10. Disobey number 4.
11. Doubt number 3.
12. Finish the story.
13. Ask myself if it still deserve the title.
14. Celebrate.
15. Repeat.

I uses the title, will there be an hidden meaning? another language? Neologism? From that I use it to imagine the of the story, then what kind of charcters will there be and the plot. Before writing I take notes, as of right now I am writing fantasy so to not loose the reader and avoiding a huge bloc of description to explain how the world function and to not loose myself, I write what I'm going to include for the first chapters and then when I've written those chapters I do the same for the chapters to come. It gives a seamingly order in my writing without it being too precise! :D

i meet the characters first. they’re not always very well developed but i have an idea of who they are and that drives me forward, learning more about them and eventually, i have a plot and a story. the last thing i figure out is the title.

A powerful scene would make me questions why and how that happened. The moment I know the title is when I started to write. When I started to write a few sentences, I began plotting. You can say that the title sums up everything in my story. I asked questions around that title and that one scene to create a stories. It's just asking questions to fill up holes in the story as I goes.
