What is a [TW] story status?

There's a [TW] status on a fic I read. Does someone know what it means?

@marquis ahhh okay. so i guess specific chapter could do :)

@ranasungmin On the whole story: Nope! You can check it the chapter itself with a TW, so you'd only need to tag that specific chapter. ^^

@marquis just one question :) if TW involve death, drugs, self-harm etc... was it needed to be checked if the story only contained that part in one chapter n not even deeply described? im just curious... :)

@marquis Haha, what is life without a little spice (;

@MissMinew Yeah, I can see why they closed it at that since you tagged it. Being reported a second time would definitely be living dangerously.

@marquis No, but ... In my case, my story didn't have any status checked and when I got reported, the moderator asked whether or not it was the entire fic or only one chapter. I chimed in and said I would check it M-rated and TW and the moderator then closed the report without doing more. I could - if I wanted to - remove the rating and go on. Technically. Although a new report for the same thing on the same story would probably be living dangerously. So I just thought they checked the status instead of taking down stories. It's an easy thing to fix after all.

@marquis Ugh. ^^

@MissMinew Oooh, okay. Also yeah, if it's checked off as having a TW, then they don't do anything generally.

@MissMinew It varies between staff on what they do honestly.

@marquis Ah, well, I mean - I consider the status a tag as well - even if it's not a written tag. My mistake. But don't they just check the status option then? Instead of deleting stories?

@marquis That's new. They certainly allowed me to put the TW tag on my own story and did absolutely nothing afterwards. I mean, they closed the report but...

@MissMinew Adding it as a tag isn't enough for the staff; They expect it to have the status option checked. Granted, they don't do anything unless someone reports the story.

Also - the [TW] used to be written as "Trigger Warning" in red when the TW-tag was used on stories - so the new layout of [TW] is relatively new. (:

@marquis Won't they just add the TW tag?

@xxellinxx No problem~ At first it took me a lot of time to figure out what TW stands for hehe!^^

@xxellinxx No problem! They can be taken down if a TW status isn't included, so I hope the stories you saw add it soon!

@marquis Hehe thank you so much! I've seen dozens of story containing trigger warning but never really saw the status labelled TW lol

@EmptyTinkerbell Oh thank you! Silly me didn't even think about that!

TW stands for trigger warning. It means the story could involve death, drugs, self-harm, etc.

I think it means the story has a Trigger Warning status.
