Do you update your story on a fixed schedule, or it depends on your mood?

is your update gap between chapters the same, or is it unstable?
as a reader, I'm quiet happy to receive an update every week. Every other week is also fine but when it's more than a month, I start to worry if the author lost interest in their own fic though.

For me it depends on my mood, how much homework I have and actually going to work

I try to write and post every other day for me. If writers block had me then at least a week, though for a story I had written it took a month because I had no time to write at the time. It depends on writers block I guess

i used to update quite usually in high school, but when i entered university, ehhh every few months tbh. i think about my fics though a lot, and i always want to write them, but it seems like im always busy :/ (and im still on AFF a lot)

It depends on my mood. I used to update at most once a month (I know that's super bad.), but then I made a new fic and entered it in a contest and started neglecting, well, everything to write and update everyday, which lead to a bunch of updates for both fics. It's good, but it's also bad because then I have a bunch of work that I put off and a lot of stress. Now, I write when I can, putting the fic in the contest as first priority. I wish I could keep a schedule, but a lot of things in my life pop up out of nowhere (my family is really spontaneous and like to do things last minute without warning lol) and so if I do create a schedule so many things will interfere with it. I just don't have the time to keep one these days. The update time is always different, but I try to get at least an update a week. (Key word: try)

Super unstable lmao sometimes it takes 3 weeks, sometimes it takes 3 months. I still think the longest I went between updates were 9 months which is kind of unacceptable but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I totally write on my own schedule and I'm kinda sorry for my readers but ... I can't force it out so

I initially wanted to update twice a month like every two weeks because each chapter is quite long, but school had been a torturous pain for me hahaha my sad IB life. Although I left a note telling my readers that I am not giving up the story, I just have absolutely no time at all and that I really adore the plot that I could not give up half way, I am not sure if they already gave up on me or not. I just genuinely hope that they still have a slight hope and patience left for me and that they do not hate me as an author by now TT^TT But yea, to put it simply, my scheduled is extremely unstable

My updates are unstable lol. Basically it depends on my free time; if I'm not that much busy with school stuff, I can update once every two weeks. But if I'm very loaded with homeworks, exams, and all, I update once a month orz.

of my two ongoing stories, i update one weekly and the other is fortnightly. but if i'm busy or occupied with other more important things (like uni now) then i tell my readers that i'm going on break for a while, or updating much slower than expected.

I update once a month, and if lucky, twice a month. :P
My readers don't seem to have a big problem with it, though.

It's a little of both. I set a schedule, and try to stick to it, but I also allow myself some wiggle room to prevent the stress from it if I have a busy week or something. But I've also got 5 ongoing stories atm, so I kind of need boundaries, lol

Depends if I had already written the whole story. But I usually have a random time of updating. :)

i planned to update two of my stories once every two weeks. but yeah, i PLANNED. right now, i'm way behind my schedule because i'm super busy with assignments and exams (・・;) i'd say my update gap is unstable currently. one thing tho, if i lose interest in my stories, i'll let the readers know XD

I update on a strict schedule xD It's more orderly for me and my beta's. So right now I give my drafts to my beta on thursday, friday at it's latest and I get my feedback in the weekend so I can post it in the weekend. I like to give some consistency to my readers so everyone can simply expect a new chapter somewhere on saturday-sunday. They won't have to wonder when the next chapter will happen and it forces me to work through the tough parts of my story. Because sometimes I just don't feel like writing but I need to meet the beta deadline so I just write crappy chapters until I have a draft I'm happy with and send it off to my beta.

I update whenever I am able to actually finish a chapter because I often tend to struggle while writing it. (Like having problems to find the right words to describe what I want to write.)

For me, I update twice (today and tomorrow) every week.
But before doing so, it depends on whether I already have a fixed chapter to update or not.

With my old stories, I used to update more than a month OTL
And if I lose interest with the story, I'd continue writing but the ending would be sloppy. (Because it's better you finish what you started or you waste all your energy and time for nothing.)
Or I would just put 'ON-HOLD' sign beside the story's title, and finish it later.

I update pretty often (every two to three days) so it depends on how busy I am in between and I had some times during exam periods where I couldn't keep it up :) I think that's probably the same for most authors though
