Hoping for a chance encounter; overly audacious to even wish for a smile… But the more he imagined it—for he imagined often now, all the possibilities possessed of a dreamer—the more he wanted more. And every day he stood here, in this very corner down the same road, he would dream and sigh and laugh and pretend. Pretend to not be aware of how many passers-by stared, or how many days it has been, or how much his heart ached for his torment one day to end… Today was not that day.
