-ˏˋ red princess, princess ˊˎ- her favorite color is red and most of her stuff is coincidentally red, as if it's her color theme. it's used by her close friends as jokes while her parents use it often as a form of endearment towards her as they compliment her. just the word "princess" is also used by those close to her to often because she is perhaps really the princess of her household.

-ˏˋ no-no ha  노노하 ˊˎ- a typical cute-but-not-so-cute nickname that was first used as a childhood nickname when she's growing up. it stuck with her all through her school years thanks to her close friends and everyone all adopted this nickname as well.

-ˏˋ korean ˊˎ- her native tongue, speaks with elegance and a certain weight to her questions or answers. she seems unassuming at first in her tone and speech but you'll never know when she just goes off strong and it's most evident in the way she talks around yeonjoo, enjoying being the outspoken y and sassy princess she is without thinking about the consequences. she knows just how to retaliate all of yeonjoo's quips like it's her playground.
 

-ˏˋ english ˊˎ- the mandatory foreign language she's had to learn during school. supported by her intensive hagwon experiences, she has the upperhand than her peers about her english speaking and writing skills. she doesn't boast about it, though. after being admitted to an university overseas, it's become only natural that she has to blend in with the informal english and slang that is used in the country. it's only through this that her english is seeing some improvement from being just academic.

you can easily tell from her aura and the people that surround her that harang knows she's a queen bee. the smirks and smiles she wears on the day-to-day, the chin held high, the relaxed shoulders, and the sound of laughter signalling she's enjoying her time are a regularity in her daily life. she just knows she's got everything and she's confident with herself. it shows more when she's being productive; always in her own efficient and comfortable pace. she doesn't slow down or speed up for anyone and completes all her tasks within her own capacities that don't overwhelm or overwork her. it helps that she's a fast learner, too. when put in a team, the confidence and energy she brings to those around her ignite a spirit that helps everyone pull through, not to lose hope in the middle of the road. it's understandable why she's not afraid to mingle with others, even when she's currently a foreign student in a foreign country; everyone loves the energy and ease she has in her life since she doesn't lose at all to the locals. she knows how to make her presence known to others. she's noh harang.

just like the song lyrics of ariana grande's needy go, "i can hide it when i'm all dressed up", that all is an intricate persona that she made in place of all the other things she is― a spoiled, egoistic, and stubborn brat. perhaps, harang is the embodiment of everything that can go wrong when you have the right equipments and circumstances. she knows just what she wants and will do anything to obtain them even if that means she'll have to use the art of deceit and persuasion. she just has the craft to achieve her personal interests in a different way from others and due to the freedom and lack of disapproval from her parents, she was able to grow up fuelled by her interests and desires. she had the freedom to deem herself the world's center and she loves it. the worst part? she's completely fine with toying with others or stomping on others, although she's repressing many of those desires to be liked by others as taught by her father who told her that  it's a necessity if she wants to be in charge of the family company in the future. and boy, does she want that power so bad. if she had her way, she would've become public enemy number one already.

inheriting her father's stubbornness, once harang makes up her mind, she sticks to it and that's unchangeable. when things don't go her way, she'd pout and try to heads with others on it. like she's always done growing up, although by now, she should've known it wouldn't work. perhaps, her reckless behavior is the most dangerous as she always has these sporadic spells of imprudent decisions; the parties, the drunk making out under the low lights, the mixtures that were devoured, the way she handles herself or sometimes, it's just the small sudden decisions that she makes as she tries to be productive. an example? her choice to go to hongsan would be one.

BACKGROUND.
phase I : the birth of the princess

born as the only child into a famous e-commerce company, harang always lived in a world you thought only existed in movies or shows or dramas. lavish, grand and all sorts of shimmers and shines. often enjoying summer break abroad in a luxury resort or villa, all the splendid things she enjoyed in her childhood caused harang to think of herself as the center of her world. she was her own sun, moon and stars. to harang, the world revolved around her. how could it not? she was the destined heiress to such a well-known and powerful company. she could have everything she'd ever wanted, look the way she wanted and go wherever and whenever she pleased. she was the kind of kid who had a chauffeur pick her up at school and stand by her every where she went. rumors even spread that she was inclined to have an arranged marriage, the kind that chaebols do. although, until this very day, such rumors have not been proven right or wrong.

phase II : gracing the hallways of the castle

with the lavish resources of her family, she was even able to explore her ual identity even further. there's a reason why they're called "summer flings". she went to parties in the neighbourhood of her villa or at the resort and found herself hooking up or messily making up with girls. she was wild but she felt free. the graceful and posh heiress became high tension whenever she took too many sips from the beverages at the parties. she had already known the taste, having tasted wine and other luxurious mixtures at the galas or fancy dinners her parents took her to. they had given her a crash course at home. to show that she has class and taste like they did too, they say. was this what they call bliss? harang could never tell what it was.

it was not like her parents cared much. they loved her and cared for her but as long as she wasn't hurting herself and making the headlines in the wrong way, they were fine. so how did they react when she uttered to them one day during summer break, "i think i'm into girls, too" ? they both raised an eyebrow before she corrected herself, "i like guys more, though" and in that point, her father firmly told her, "don't get caught with a girl, it'll look bad for us. as long as you lay low, do whatever you want." that went a lot worse in harang's mind. she had imagined anger, rejection, denial and shock but there was none.

it made harang think. she could do anything to get what she wants. she never cared about how much her parents cared. if they didn't care that much first, she doesn't have to think about it. if they did care, she'd feel something but somehow, she's fine with everything and rather, she enjoys the way things have been and still are right now. she'd never want to trade the freedom and chaos she's so accustomed to with caring formalities from her parents. her parents care enough on certain things in her life and it's okay for her.
 

LIFSTYLE.
how are they living now

-ˏˋ her ego ˊˎ- ah, yes the fluctuation of harang's ego is an enigma in itself. to those who see her, you'd think that her ego is always on a high and that's true. her ego is her poison, slowly darkening the purity of her heart and mind that once occupied her inner thoughts and intentions. she struggles to tame it and there are often instances where she goes maniac. she still hasn't grown up or come into terms with her ego. sooner or later, if she does not mature and grow a certain extent of tolerance and modesty, she'll forever go maniac. when that ego is poked or attacked, harang will go full on stubborn and bad on just about anyone. perhaps, those moments are the only time you'd see that noh harang is a completely different person than her intricate persona.

-ˏˋ life in the states ˊˎ- she adapted, yes. she loves the people and the places there, yes. she stood out in a crowd of white people, yes. she's pursuing what she loves with the financial ease of her parents, yes. she has hojung by her side, yes. but there was something inside her that told her it wasn't enough. what could possibly be missing? harang returns to hongsan to gain inner peace but why not seoul, you may ask? it was on impulse. simply, because she asked nahye the most unexpected place she could imagine her to be. maybe, deep down, it's her twisted and tangled mind signalling for harang to get away from all the parties, unthinkable mixtures of alcohol, drunken kisses, and unnecessary feelings that she's been so accustomed to in the states and in seoul. just maybe.

-ˏˋ won hojung ˊˎ- harang always believes and verbally reassures herself that she loves herself when perhaps, she hasn't fully acknowledged her shortcomings and grow from them. she believes hojung will love her unconditionally forever and more, but how can she be so sure? she's always giving him something to think about her one moment and not accepting him and his feelings with open arms the next. just how she treats herself. hojung always puts her at ease, though, and without him, she loses a sense of clarity, direction, and reassurance that completes her but she only has herself to blame for having tangled their clear connection with each other as she's going to some extent to get hojung to prove himself to her that he'd do everything and anything for her. it's messed up but that's how they both like it; overly complicated.

-ˏˋ the possibilities of losing control ˊˎ- what makes harang tick like she does now is her confidence, her efficiency in her work, and the art of slyness, deceit, and persuasion. she always felt like she knew just what she wanted and how she'd get it. she has always lived like that. it's a good passion, but deep down, under all the stubbornness and ego, there's a fragile and unstable version of her who dreads the possibilities of her losing control. she always had life her way, she always thought she'd be the center of her life. the what ifs scare her, especially when she's truly become used to life in the states. just a little flick and the jenga tower that is her ego and stubbornness will all crumble. she'll try to deny it, finding comfort in the extravagance of parties and mixtures as she doesn't want to acknowledge it. she may never notice it, but she does have a meltdown where the thoughts just drown her and she acts impulsive. won hojung can vouch for it.

👑 — "oh my, do i have to? i mean, i thought you might already know. i'm no harang, i'm from seoul and... i think that's all you need to know from me."

if you're new to the island, what brought you to hongsan? if you're a resident, how has it been like living here?
👑 — "i'm new here, i am from seoul after all. i just came here to refresh my mind. it's more or less an idle town so it was a more perfect choice for me to stay for the summer, unlike if i went to jeju or busan. i felt like i needed to be somewhere else this summer. so, here i am, blessing you with my presence."

what is one thing you wish you could run away from in life?
👑 — "i can't think of any so how can i answer this? i might answer differently later but right now, i am running away from hojung so the tentative answer to this question for me is... love or romance or i don't know, maybe feelings?"

what do you think about when you hear the word, "family"?
👑 — "i love my family. we are powerful together. we control e-commerce. i want to be able to take over and make the family more powerful. i only want to be the best for myself and my family."

everyone has their bad days and personal struggles. when you run into a problem, how do you handle it?
👑 — "i'm not sure. when i feel sad, i go and blur the feelings out with food or retail shopping. i stop being sad and become amazing, instead. i'm not like everyone else around here that you know because i hide it best when i'm dressed up."

what's something you hope to gain as you continue to live your life here in hongsan?
👑 — "to become more amazing than i already am. okay, no, my serious answer would be to gain a peace of mind for once. maybe, go around the town a bit. also, i'm doing this to see who comes running after me to take me back to seoul. nahye is out of the picture so it's either my  mom or dad or hojung. gosh, how i want hojung to come so badly."

it was one of those sluggish working days at the hwangs. seunggyu was stretching after taking care of the front desk for a portion of the day. at this very timing, harang returned the bed and breakfast place with the most smug smile.

"seunggyu~ how are you doing?" harang greeted him in english as she waved.

"no no ha~ nothing much right now." he answered to her, replying her wave.

harang looked around, it seemed like yeonjoo was not around. harang smirked. she hated bumping into the owner of the bed and breakfast who butted heads with her all the time. yeonjoo drains her out.

harang stuck around seunggyu, showing him the photos she took of herself and the places she went to that day in hongsan.

at least, seunggyu was nicer and much more bearable than yeonjoo. harang felt as if she could hold on in the town.

"it's so weird how i never missed anyone until i'm apart from them..." harang said in a wishful tone as she checked the calender and clock on her phone. seunggyu noticed this. 

"so, is our princess still thinking about her knight in shining armor?" seunggyu nudged her with his elbow. harang pouted at his action, knowing too well who he was referring to. won hojung.

"i mean, it's not a lie anyways..." harang's voice slowly went quieter as she accidentally came across of a past photo of her and hojung.

they were hella messy right now and it was perhaps her fault. nowadays, it was as if she was living the lyrics of a song.

she never knew she wanted him to stay until she missed him. she never knew she had been opening just a half of her heart open. she wanted him to come running to hongsan, telling her that he'll meet her half-way but what if he didn't?

would that mean that there was something in the whole world she couldn't have? noh harang could do anything to get what she wanted so how could that be possible, when she's noh harang?

harang's thoughts were interrupted by a scream from hwang yeonjoo as she approached her with a huff and puff, "ya, noh harang, you spoiled brat, don't interrupt seunggyu during his working hours!" ah, there yeonjoo goes, interrupting harang's moment of peace in the small town of hongsan.
