Beta

Traits: Cooperative, hardworking, unromantic, unaffected (by pheromones)

Beta, with the lack any of α-factor gene (A) and Ω-factor gene (O), are completely stripped off of their animalistic instinct. They are the everyday people and make up more than half of human population. Pure Betas are hard-worker and stubborn by nature, with their sole goal is to sustain the society.

Because they are unaffected by pheromones, Beta have higher job opportunity compared to Alpha and Omega. For example, only Beta can apply to become a medical personnel and security. But of course, on several fields, they can’t skip over an Alpha regarding promotions.

Also with the fact of Beta do not emit scents and mating pheromones, and unaffected by mating pheromones, they are theoretically safer within an Alpha territory. Rutting Alpha, not only that they avoid another Alpha’s presence, they also avoid the presence of Beta, especially Pure Beta.

Being a Beta sounded so much better than Alpha, no? Fortunately, everything has it downside, including being a Beta.

For one, it is almost impossible for Beta to lead in a diverse group. Beta is the natural enemy of Alpha and the natural protector of Omega, mainly due to their neutral presence and unbiased nose. If they are somehow a leader of a diverse group of Alpha and Omega, they will naturally favor the Omega’s opinion rather than the Alpha. But of course, other factors will have its own impact. Secondly, unlike Alpha who can freely choose their partner (if they are not looking for their Fated Mate), Beta have restrictions. On Beta-populated countries, Beta can only marry another Beta of different . Homouality is a major crime, although the same rule does not apply to Alpha and Omega. Alpha and Omega can marry another Alpha or Omega regardless of . Beta also have weaker olfactory senses compared to Alpha and Omega. This caused Beta is still able to smell personal scent but unable to smell mating pheromones, but if Beta experienced prolonged exposure, their nose will lose its ability to function as an olfactory organ.

Beta women can’t give birth to more than two children, unlike Omega women that can give birth to maximum of 5 children (assuming they are healthy and have healthy Male-Alpha partner). Having more than two can ultimately lead to their death, usually caused by obstruction and severe bleeding. Most of the time, it also leads to their child’s death.

Young Beta, Young Sub-Alpha, and Young Pure Omega are very hard to differentiate until they show the sign of second puberty (Alpha-teething and rut for Alpha, Estrus for Pure Omega). On several cases, a Beta, even after DNA test on their 18th birthday, can suddenly develop Sub-Alpha or Pure-Omega traits on the height of human prime (around 25 years of human age). This rare phenomenon is called Awakening, only happens once in 10,000,000 birth.
