BACKGROUND: Sung Joon was born to a fairly wealthy household and had two loving parents. He grew up well until the age of 8 when his parents and him were driving to the hospital as his mother was about to give birth to his sister. They sadly died. His relatives all blame him stating the he should of listened when is parents said to stay home and was treated as an outcast for the next 7 years before everything built up and he tried taking his life. It was after discharge he found his saviour. By chance he had started listening to music by the likes of Dynamic Duo, Epik High, Leessang as major influences. This new passion made him runaway to Seoul, where he started joining the underground hip hop scene. Sung Joon also also enjoys Hongdae’s indie music as well, which lead him to playing the guitar.

As for the red string of fate, He often stares at it with one thought, “What poor soul is fated to be my soulmate”. His own belief is that he doesn’t deserve to receive love from others. In his teens he didn’t want to meet his soulmate, but as he has seen people that never knew theirs and never found love, his mind changed. Only he wants to guide into her on happiness and maybe find someone who is more deserving of her

 

FAMILY: Sung Joon’s father, Ahn Sungha and mother Lee Junhee, were good parents, whom sadly lost their lives in a car accident along with their unborn sister Ahn Sunghee. His living relatives are His Grandmother, Park Hwaran, CEO to a prestigious Hotel and Casino, his Uncle Ahn Sungho and his wife Yoo Hyeri and their 20 year son Ahn Sanghyun. They treat Sung Joon as an outcast

 

His grandmother is a very strict and says everything straight. She is a logical and practical thinker and does not believe in the red string. She wants Sung Joon to come home as he is the better choice to take over their business.

 

 

His Uncle is very antagonistic and greedy. After the death of his brother, he immediately set out on turning everyone against Sung Joon. He was always dissatisfied with only making vice-president and took any chance he could to outshine his brother. His wife and son are very much the same in their manipulative and greedy ways. Hence, why Sungha become the first choice successor. He completly hates Sung Joon as he is a threat to the CEO position

 

LIFESTYLE: Sung Joon lives in a run-down rooftop apartment. For money, He works at a café but at night he performs at clubs or in Hongdae. He has a very poor living condition as he spends most of the time buying things for the orphan kids or kids living in hospitals, so that they don’t suffer like him. He is a scholarship student studying musical composition as well as  Korean literature.

 

PAST RELATIONSHIPS:Sung Joon has not been in any prior relationships due to his own nature, personality and thoughts

 

RELATION Ahn Sanghyun, Cousin/rival, 20, Student (Business), Self-loving, Selfish, cunning, bratty

Sung Joon’s cousin, Ahn Sanghyun has always seen Sung Joon as threat, even though Sung Joon does not. Sanghyun is Sung Joon’s opposite in every aspect and his only goal is to see his cousin suffer and to be better than him. He also wants to take the family Casino and hotel as his own as well.

 

FRIENDS: Sung Joon has no real close friends, He does know people in the underground rap scene and other muscians, however no-one close enough to write about.

THOUGHTS ON THE RED STRING OF FATE: 

My name is Sung Joon. My thoughts about the red string of fate, I wish it didn’t exist because it means that some sorry soul has me for a soulmate. But Fate should be up to us, so maybe I can do something and maybe she can be happy as another’s fated one

HOW WOULD YOU REACT TO FINDING YOUR SOULMATE?: Well Firstly I’d want to ignore that someone is fated to be my soulmate. But I’d feel sorry for her, I mean, would she know what kind of freak she is fated to be with. I’d rather she’d not know and maybe fate would have something better for her. 

The red string of fate is something she is curious and happy about. It gives her hope that she isn't always going to be alone. She simply hopes that a good person is who is on the other end and if she can finally stop worrying about being alone

 

RELATIONSHIP: Sung Joon and Nahyun first meet after he gets a job at the cafe she is currently working at. They meet on Sung Joon's first day and have very different reactions as Nahyun does her best to become close and friendly, especially after she notices their string, while he does his best to ignore her and does so after noticing the string

They relationship does start very one-sided as Nahyun keeps on making attemps to melt down past his icy exterior and he says very little in hopes of finding a way to change her fate to a better man for her. She finally does make a tiny crack through his shell when Sung Joon is in need to find some dogs for the kids at the orphange he volunteers at and she offers to bring her two dogs. This is when they start learning things about each other like the reason Nahyun has pet dogs are to keep her company and she learns that he works with orphans and sick kids so they don't feel lonely and end up like him or worse. This moment pushes them closer together and allows their bond to grow

As they learn more and more about their interests and passions. Nahyun makes it her vow that if Sung Joon becomes a famous musician, then she'd be his personal stylist. The time they spend together grows until they seem inseprable as they slowly and unconsiously heal the others wounds as Nahyun feels less lonely as she is always with Sung Joon who learns from her what is like to love someone and to have someone love him back.

They express themselves differently to each other as Nahyun is very affectionate towards him generally always holding him and kissing his check whenever she can while looking at him with a goofy smile. Sung Joon is more subtle, with his stolen glances, sampy smile and small gestures for her.

The love rival, Sung Joon's cousin, Sanghyun only takes interest in Nahyun because he sees her as something he can use to see Sung Joon suffer. However, Nahyun's joyfull nature and infectious smile get the best of him, making Sanghyun want her for himself. Nahyun, however isn't swayed by his fancy cars and expensive gifts. She desn't give in to Sanghyun simply because of all the little things and the happyness she gets from Sung Joon can't be bought anywhere. Sung Joon, while still having the good looks to attract girls, is still cold and untouchable to those that aren't his friends, so he pretty much has complete trust from Nahyun.

In the end their relationship is built of trust, love, joy and that their imperfections are simply fixed by the others presence

 

OUTCOME: Honestly, it’s up to you. I just want the two to learn that they are no longer alone and people can still love them.
