an exchange between an uncle and his fifteen-year old niece.

Btw, fyi ... this is purely fictional.
Characters used:
Kim Jae Joong (JYJ/TVXQ)
Park Ji Min (15&)

Situation: An uncle (Jae Joong) is trying to talk his niece (Ji Min) into taking him to her Winter Parents' Day Dance.

Ji Min admired his perseverance to get to her good side. Never before had she seen such determination. Min Seok himself would’ve given up. Probably because he’s grown accustomed to her stubbornness that he’s learned to live with it and adapt. As for her dear Uncle Jae Joong, he was hell-bent in making her change her ways.

He had guts. He had stuff. He was trying – trying – to reach out to her. His efforts hadn’t gone to waste. It had gotten to her. She was succumbing to his genuine pleas. She was starting to feel his sincerity, his care. She was able to see him as a human. Not pretentious, not conniving. He was reacting like how any concerned uncle should be (unlike her other uncles, fake asses they were).

“What do you say? Are you up for a crazy night with your uncle?”

Jae Joong’s arms had outstretched, spreading themselves apart while his eyes expectantly waited for her answer, just glimmering with anticipation.

She gave him a troubled look and exhaled before pouting. “But what am I going to wear?”

Jae Joong burst out laughing and engulfed her in what was undeniably a bear hug. What would’ve been awkward and uncomfortable for Ji Min made her all warm and fuzzy as her uncle squished her in his surprisingly strong arms. She wrapped her arms around his frame and buried herself in his warmth.

In her ear, he spoke reassuringly, “Don’t worry. We’ll think of something.”

He swayed her from side to side in a happy, celebratory dance, making Ji Min to break out into a fit of giggles. The two stayed glued to each other, swaying, for a few more minutes before parting and briefly discussing the plan to break the news to the mother.

It's actually a scene from this fic "The Rising". Check it out if you're curious. By durian2003.
