Keeper's 17 Questions for Writers

1. Do you write stories (or parts of it) everyday? Day or night?
No. I usually set a deadline for myself and write 1000-3000 words per writing session, which can take up to 4-5 hours. I do most of my writing at night but the later it gets the crackier it becomes...

2. Do you have any writing rituals? If yes, what are they?
Not really. I usually write with my headphones on and for certain chapters I loop specific songs if I feel the vibe of the song fits the story.

3. Where do you write: MS Word, Notepad app, notebook, AFF text editor, Google doc, etc.?
Google doc (or MS Word if I don't have internet access.)

4. Do you start a fic with an outline? If the answer is no, proceed to #6.
Yes. I spend most of my time 'thinking' about the fic instead of really writing it. Only until the progression makes perfect sense in my head I can start writing.

5. Is your outline fixed or a work in progress?
The general outline is fixed but I usually add in extra stuff as I go along.

6. How do you know if a chapter is done?
I just do.

7. When do you update?
As soon as the chapter is finished and has been approved by my beta. Whenever I've completed something I can't wait to put it out there and see how people react to it.

8. Do you usually write short chapters (<1500) or long ones (>2500)?
Long. For EXO 2030 I aim for at least 3000 words.

9. Is it a must for your story to have a poster?
Not really, but it's a nice added bonus - though I don't mind waiting for a good poster shop to open up a new batch so I can put in my request.

10. What do you usually write in your foreword?
I keep it as short as possible. Forewords should entice and give the reader a general idea of the theme or plot. I never read fics that put character descriptions there because I hate that.

11. What font do you use? Font size?
Georgia, 14.

12. Do you write stories about your bias?
Hmmm I don't think Jongin translates well to paper, so I'm not really good at writing him, and I don't think I'd ever write a fic with him as a the lead unless it was for someone else or an exchange.

13. Which of your fictional characters can you relate to the most? Why?
I have channelled a lot of myself into one of the EXO-members in EXO 2030. I won't say who it is, but I've projected my own issues on him.

14. Have you requested reviews for your stories?
Yes, once, though I asked it to be unmarked. I thought it was helpful.

15. What are your weaknesses when it comes to writing?
-I don't write regularly enough. I need to be in the right mood to write.
-As far as content goes, I hope to improve my grammar. Also, I at writing romance or ? Writing about romantic relationships between exo members always feels forced to me so I'd rather stick to bromance if possible.
- I'm not very good at descriptions or actions. I'd LOVE to be able to write a good action fic but it's very hard for me to 'paint a scene with words'.

16. Why do you write fanfics?
I think writing is an honorable hobby and it helps me put my own thoughts in order.

17. Any advice/tips about writing?
- Dialogue is everything. Very few writers here are Korean (teenage) boys, but most of their characters are - keep in mind they don't talk the way you do.
- Keep it simple. You don't need big words to convey big feelings. If there's a word you wouldn't use in your daily vocabulary, it's probably gonna look odd in your fic.
- CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Start with an outline of your fic and make sure your characters go through a logical progression. Sure, a character can fall in love at first sight, but you're gonna need to back it up with facts so the reader can believe it too. When I write a fic, 60% of my time is spent thinking about outline and development, the other 40% is for writing.

Thank for taking time to answer my questions. I hope your followers do it too. It's fun discovering similarities (music) and differences. We also encounter similar difficulties , so the advice/tips help a lot.
