24.05.2014 Do not trust anything you see

I hope I can spread this awareness that the media is one-sided.

In any article you see, they can be classified under either 'Scholarly' or 'Popular' article.

And I am actually teaching a skill here - How do you see whether the article you are reading is actually trustable or not?

This helps when you go to university when you had to do your literature review, it really helps a lot.

So, what is 'Scholarly' or 'Popular' articles?

I will start with 'Popular' articles since we all understand what the word means, isn't it?

Popular articles are written by people who weren't an expert in a specific discipline field, usually by reporters, free-lance writers or basically just anyone who can write.

They usually have pictures and ADVERTISEMENTS on it. The length tends to be short and their tone can be one-sided. Also, the language used is simple, which is meant for the general public to read.

With that said, ‘Popular’ articles are usually posted for the money. Why do I say so? Advertisements.

They did not post for information but post for money.

They show people that ‘oh this and that happened and my site gained many views, other companies should post advertisement on my site because I can enable a certain amount of reader to see your advertisement.’

This is how it works. Especially in entertainment industries.

I don’t really read many of these ‘junk articles’ and yes, I called them junk, and so far I hadn’t seen one which actually covers full fact and has a neutral tone to it.

NEUTRALITY, an article needs to be neutral; neither siding any sides, for it to be at least readable.

And as for ‘Scholarly’ articles, they tend to be longer as it’s more detailed. And most importantly, they cite the source whereby they took the information from. The source would have to be credible as well.

The tone of it would be neutral, neither saying one is good nor the other is bad. The language used would be technical, assuming that the readers are informed.

So.. for any entertainment news, DO NOT believe what they wrote.

I just wish that my readers, the ones who read this can become informed of what to expect and what to believe in, when they read an article in future.
