Tragic

Every year we celebrate Easter in remembrance of Jesus Christ's resurrection but each year is different from the last. I don't think it's strictly a holiday for Christians because Easter is about new beginnings and the hope that comes after tragedies. I couldn't possibly list all that had happened in human history that was worth praying for but in remembrance to every hurricane, tsunami, earthquake, war and a lot more disasters that the world has thrown at us, Easter is when I take a moment to stop and just think. Each year is different because there are added tragedies, lives lost, devastating news and it just feels overwhelming.

I for one feel utterly useless because all I can do is write this blog. I want to be there - to help people, comfort them and just prevent anymore tragic events to ever happen again. Obviously this is unrealistic and impossible because the world is a cruel place. I can only imagine what people are going through when they lose someone they love. There could never be world peace, there are more inevitable disasters to come in the future and there's little we could do. This all sounds very bitter and y but it's true, though I wish it wasn't.

I'm Catholic Christian. Kind of. I'm open to all views but at the same time, I have my own and I choose to believe in Christianity because it's nice to think of. It's a happy thought that there is a God. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

You can interpret that however you like but I like to think that yes, life is bitter and y but it kind of gives me this hope that it's not meaningless. I like to think that maybe, all the people that had left us in this life can be with us again in the next. I like to think that the students who had passed away on the Sewol ferry disaster can be with their family again in heaven or the afterlife or whatever you want to believe in. Same goes for the people on the missing Malaysian plane, civilian and military deaths in ongoing wars, the people who died in Typhoon Haiyan, every single life that has ever suffered. You don't have to be religious to 'pray' for them, just think of what they're going through and hope that it will get better - you don't need to believe in a God to pray (coming from a Catholic herself u.u)

In a way, Easter is tragic in itself because of everything that it stands for. But it's a 'Happy Easter' because everytime you reflect on these things, like I am now (sorry btw and thank you for reading all the way down here), there's just some kind of thought in the back of your head that someday, maybe you can do something, however little. For example, all the idols and their fanclubs that are donating their time and money to help the victims and families of the Sewol ferry disaster are truly admirable and I hope I can contribute too. Faith in humanity restored, sign me up for donating all of my money (which is like £5 ._.) On that note, because this is all we can do for now, have a Happy Easter, chingus~

ps. I'm sorry if I only briefly mentioned Kpop idols but that would include talking about the ungrateful little heads who complain about events being cancelled because their oppas are good human beings whilst they are being, well, ungrateful little heads, and that would be a completely different rant blog post.

Did you know one of the students on the ferry (this is just what I heard so I don't know whether or not it's reliable) is ToppDogg member Beta's brother so some of the kpop stars are experiencing possible family loss and it just shows the ungrateful fans that they are human too with families involved...

But I totally get where your coming from, Easter is meant to be for celebrating but actually looking at it, there is always a disaster (Jesus dying, natural disasters and people generally dying who no one apart from family know about because they're not famous and haven't died in a huge way.) and it makes me sad to think that a time when companies that sell Easter eggs and commercialise religious events are almost force feeding this happiness down our throats which isn't what Easter is all about. And all this comes from the head and heart of a Christian Athesist (which exist).
