I have a question for people who read/write Hetero fanfics

I'm trying to figure out a plot for my very first hetero fic for the summer alongside my next summer fic, and for people who read them, I just want to know what the preference is.

When people read hetero, do you prefer reading an Infinite ff where people are paired with actual idols, or original character?

Also, what would be positives and negatives of having original characters versus just using someone who already exists? Does it really make a difference? I would love some feedback on this!

It really depends on what you're going to write, but usually people prefer OC/Idol fics than Idol/Idol fics when it comes to hetero unless you're pairing 2ne1/BigBang up or are writing Myungzy (Jiyeon/Myungsoo's pretty popular too... but not as much as Myungzy). Otherwise OC/Idol fics are usually more popular, but getting people to take a chance on them is also slim because people seem to think terribly of OC/Idol fics a lot, even if there are some really good ones on this site.

It just really depends on what you're writing and what genres you're going to use because it's probably easier to use an OC for fantasy/sci-fi/action/adventure genres than an idol since you can easily just create your own character that fits the world you are creating unless you're just using the idol as a face claim. Romance/Romcom/Dramedy/Drama can use either one and still be okay since characters don't need as in depth backstories as they may do in fantasy/sci-fi/etc... type story where it takes place in another world.

But with idols, you can easily use idol friendships to build relationships with. For example, Myungsoo and Lizzy from After School are friends, so it's not impossible to think that Myungsoo and Lizzy hung out a couple of times and one day, one of the other members (we'll say Nana) joined them, and from there Nana and Myungsoo ended up hitting it off, exchanged numbers, got closer, and eventually wanted to date each other.
