A Letter to All ApplyFic Authors (Not for Children)

So, my reason for making this is quite simple. I'm tired of author's trying to tell me that I need to create an entirely new character for their story. This is for those authors that can't understand why they can't see any of my other blog posts, even over in the 'recent posts' section to the left.

Dear Conceited Applyfic Authors,

Your story isn't special, despite what you might think. Unless you are going to promise me a spot in your story, you are going to take my partially recycled application and like it. My blogs are my business and my apps are the business of the author that I submit them to. They have nothing to do with you, so get the hell over your lame self okay? :)

So, with that said, the way I now have my blog posts you won't be able to see any of my past applications; unless you want to go search all of the application stories with an application, apply, or applyfic tag.

And, if you manage to find a link to one of my past applications and reject my app, well...

Okay... maybe I won't kill you, but you best be ready for a fight. I don't take anyone rejecting my application without a good reason (and really the only good reason is that my character didn't fit the plot/story at all). I am a pretty meticulous applicant and it takes me DAYS to finish one application. On average I spend between two to five hours thinking of a personality / background and then writing it. I plan out all of the important parts of my character so that the author can get the most out of my application. So, when an author tells me all the hours I spent making them a good character was a waste, well, you can imagine why I'd get a little bit pissed and be defensive.

Authors, you expect people to be understanding of you when you can't update every week, but you can't show the same courtesy to your applicants?

Did your parents not teach you to treat others the way you want to be treated? If you want people to understand you not updating every day or even every week or every other week, then you should be able to understand why not all of your applicants can afford to spend hours upon hours creating an entirely new character for you. As you tell your subscribers, you have a life outside of AFF (whether that be school, work, or having some sort of social life) so you can't spend every minute of every day writing. Well the same goes for your applicants. They don't have an unlimited amount of time to fill out your application. They will fill it out the best they can with the time that they have, but you would be doing them a giant favor by letting them copy at least some big parts from other applications (such as the personality and background). Also, it is extremely rare for an author to even finish a story, so does it honestly make sense to spend hours or even days of your time to fill out an application for a story that might not even be finished (or started in the case of many stories)? Will you sign a blood oath and promise on your life to finish the story? If so I would be more than happy to make an entirely new character for your story. If not, then

And don't complain when an applicant reuses parts of their old applications.

It seems that you authors are under the impression that if an applicant is recycling their personality and/or background that the character they are submitting is 100% like the one in the blog post they recycled from. Well, let me ask you this. Is your story 100% like the other story they applied to? Well I would hope the answer is no (otherwise that's plagiarism). So, it would be understandable that certain things would be different (probably minor things are even parts of their background). That means that the character they are sending you isn't 100% like another character they have submitted to someone else. So, what are you really ing about? What is the purpose of having a character that is completely new? If the applicant and character are new to you, then why should it matter if parts of that character have been used before?
