Weight-Loss Journal: Day 1

Hi! So, if you’re reading this you probably already know me at least a little. But, since I’m hoping that people will share/promote this blog post, I’m going to do a little self introduction.

I’m writerinprogress94, otherwise known as Katherine/Kat in real life. Most of my basic info can be found in my info blog post but, as you can probably guess from the title, this is for something… specific.

I’ve come to the realization that my weight is a problem, and I’m determined to get healthier this year. So that I can’t back out (and also so I can hopefully get some support ^-^), I’m posting this here on AFF since I know I have a better chance of getting support from the kpopper community.

So, the facts.

As of January 8, 2014, I am at 205 pounds and a size 16.

The goals?

Rather than weight loss goals, I’ve pulled some of the clothes I used to fit in out of my closet. This way I’m not freaking out so much about the numbers.

My first goal is to loose enough weight to be able to move freely in my winter coat and not feel like the fabric across the back is going to rip XP

Also, I’m trying to eat healthier, but I’m having problems with breakfast foods, especially in winter. I want something hot to eat but I can’t stand eggs or oatmeal. Suggestions?

For exercise I put on kpop and dance around for 30 minutes or more, but that’s easy XD

I’ve put up a board in my room for comments. If you want to leave something to cheer me on, I’ll copy it down and put it up there!

I'm looking to lose about eight kilograms myself, so I just wanted to share some tips that I'm using.

For workouts, check out my Pinterest board. I've made it my goal to try everything I've posted on it (which is a hell of a lot.) http://www.pinterest.com/koreancutie97/diet-fitness/

For diet: if you have access to a lot of Asian food, like Korean, then follow a Korean diet. I'm Korean so every meal is either rice with soup, rice with side dishes, or rice with some meat (very low in fat.) But if Korean/Asian cuisine isn't as easily available to you, then go with some hot tea and/or soup (not from a can) and/or toast. Whole-grain bread, not whole-wheat. Fruits and veggies for lunch, and a small dinner. Don't skip dinner completely; that actually slows your metabolism.

Refrain from trans fats like chips (chips and pop tarts are my LIFE.) Instead of chips or other processed foods for snacks, go with a handful of almonds or maybe a bit of dark chocolate, which is actually very good for your heart.

Drink PLENTY OF WATER. Water will flush the toxins out of your body, which will make weight loss much easier.

Eat celery. I personally hate celery. Just listening to the sound of crunching celery, the smell of it, the sound of its name, it's all disgusting to me. But celery has literally zero calories, so while you eat celery, you're burning calories to digest it. That's why people say it has negative calories :)

Also, I live on a VERY busy schedule (piano, archery, AP-and-honors student, volunteer for at least three different organizations not including church activities, etc.) so I don't exactly have time to go to the gym, whether we have membership or not. In that case, just do at-home yoga or jump-roping/jumping jacks. Do the squat challenge; start at 50 and work your way up to 100 a night by adding 10 every day.

Blogilates, XHit Daily, Pop Sugar Fit, Fitness Blender, and Tiffany Rothe's videos help. You really see results, but the key to success is DETERMINATION.

Oh wow I admire you so much! I'm so happy for you that you've made the decision to get healthier! I can't really say I can relate to you because I'm an elite athlete but if you need any exercising tips you can come talk to me ^^ and for breakfast foods that as warmer I usually eat whole grain toast with some peanut butter on it! I'm not sure how healthy it actually is but the peanut butter gives you protein and the whole grains speak for themselves so I hope I was somewhat useful. Well anyways fighting! I know you can do this :D

I know how you feel. In fact I'm about five pounds heavier than you and have a risk of getting diabetes and heart . Right now, I'm trying to invest in some weights so that I can work out inside during the cold winter. But if you're doing kpop dances than maybe you should ones like teen Top Top, Shinee, and Big Bang. More up and jumpy kind of songs you know. I'll be doing it with ya sista!! HWAITING!

Oh, that sounds like an amazing new years resolution! The best of luck to you! And as for hot breakfast foods I don't know many outside of the traditional oatmeal, eggs, etc. but you could always try Google. I'm sure there'll be many suggestions ^-^ And one again, good luck Kat! Hwaiting! If you ever want to talk about anything don't be afraid to message me :3
