Ok, so this is really weird but I'm going to type my thoughts on this story called Touch of Fear written by dreamyflower author-nim. It's weird because I don't write blogposts for stories that I've read but I felt compelled to do this one because the story is really good.But wait, good is an understatement. This fanfic is really the best fanfic I have read till now and I think it will stay that way for some time to come. This story might seem really cliche at first but it is a really, really amazing story. Absolutely like none other I’ve read before. It has really left a deep impression on me.  It's a Sehun x OC fanfic, with the OC being Park Ara. Other minor characters include EXO-K and Luhan. ^^ Whether you're a Sehun stan or not, whether you're an EXOSTAN or not, I really recommend this fanfic for everyone to read. Everything, ranging from how original her characters are to how the story slowly unfolds through her detailed writing is clearly reflected  in that fanfic and I guarantee, it will captivate you from start to end. You will be driven by a force to finish reading this fanfic ASAP because the previous chapter will really leave you hungry for more. But believe me, at the end of the story, you will never regret reading this fanfic. This is really, how good it is. And now…let my actual thoughts flow…

So yesterday, after I was done reading half of the story, I thought about the characters and the events that happened over the course of the story. My thoughts finally rested on the main characters Sehun and Ara, and as I thought deeper about the both of them, I realized that both of them are very different people from vastly different worlds but at the same time, they are the same in one way: How hard and indifferent they are towards their surroundings and the world around them. But, the reason behind why they are like that is not the same. For Ara, she is hardened towards the world because of her circumstances; because of that, she cannot enjoy the teenager life that every teen should be experiencing. At the same time, there is another reason: her experiences; because of all those experiences, she viewed people differently, and gradually the entire world differently, which is why she is how she is in the story. The way she is portrayed.  For Sehun’s case, he is hardened and indifferent to the entire world because of the things he slowly began to realize as he grew up and seeing more of the real world as well as the environment he was brought up in the world. He knew that the world was hungry for money and corrupted and thus his indifference.  He is hardened because the environment he grew up in, which was one that never respected his own wishes, one he was forced into accepting as one can never get what he or she wants in life all the time. As the story progresses, he will slowly become more accepting towards the world but there is something behind that, a force. Why is that sentence underlined? This is one sentence that you will often see in the story if you read the story and along with some other sentences which are quotes we can see being reflected in life. I also think that these are the kind of quotes the author has lived by because she once said what inspired her to write would be her thoughts. After knowing that, some things in the story became a lot clearer to me which is why I came up with this conclusion.

At the same time, this story reminds me of the anime Kaichou wa Maid Sama. I don’t know if the author drew inspiration from this anime but the similarity is really there. For Kaichou wa Maid Sama, the main characters are Misaki Ayuzuwa and Usui Takume with the latter being the male. Like Ara, Misaki is poor. Misaki also works at a cafe like Ara.   On the other hand, Misaki attends a public school whereas Ara attends a prestigious school. Misaki is very intelligent but because of her circumstances which is similar to Ara’s, that’s the reason why she can't afford it. These are some things I picked up. However…the most striking resemblance between the two would be how much they detest the opposite gender. Their similar experiences has caused such an impression of the opposite gender in them.

Now moving on to the male leads.

Sehun and Usui are also very similar in ways. Like Sehun, Usui is also the kingka of his school in the anime but he is also indifferent to the females fondness towards him like how Sehun was in the fanfic as well. Usui also hails from a rich family like Sehun and like Sehun, has barely any contact with his parents, if not none at all. It also happens that their type of residence is the same! Sehun lives alone in a apartment, so does Usui!

Overall, I can really see the resemblance between the two couples. Don’t get me wrong, I am NOT trying to say that the author is copying from Maid Sama. No. It’s just that I see the similarity there and I feel like expressing it. Please do not get the wrong idea.

There is also another thing that really made me go all fuzzy, warm and crazy with feels when I read the story and watched the anime some time back : It was how the male lead managed to change the female lead’s life, slowly but surely, gaining their trust and showing them the beautiful side of the world that exists.

Hehe, I really love both couples and I ship them forever. <3
