Harsh may be a good word to describe her once you exchange glances on the hallway or street, but despite her sharp eyes and stoic expression lies a passionate girl who is fond of working. Yes, she is the workaholic of the group, and it shows during their practices and performances. A perfectionist way beyond belief so that she will not be a burden to the group.
Once you get to know her though, she's not that bad to be with, but the girl still has this thick and tall wall around her, making her some sort of an introvert. There may be instances that she may join the group, but she won't initiate the fun talks, maybe she'd just laugh or listen to the conversation. But when it comes to heated debates, she'd pour her heart and mind out to the situation, and she'll try to persuade anyone to believe her.
Despite her negative side, she is also protective around her members. She observed that her team is somewhat young and they do not have any bad experiences, or they're too pure to know what the mean side of life is, so she wants to stay it that way. She doesn't want them to experience the painful part of life that she was able to know at a very young age, so she takes the blow in behalf of her members.

As a young lady, she was able to recieve the painful life at a young age. Her family is the best example: When her parents gave life to her elder sister they separated, and her father found another woman. He had another daughter outside, then he reunited with them. They eventually allowed Ha Rin into the world, and then again he left for the same woman. See how her family is in a wreck? Because of sudden blow, her mother tried to make a living for the three of them, but her mother suffered so much in their marriage, that she was sick for 5 years, and then died eventually of depression. Her sister was with her father, and she was taken by her aunt.
Because of her family's mess, she stopped believing in the ideal part of life, and swore that she will be a manhater. BUT there's somebody who's an exception to the rule: Im Siwan. He and Ha Rin became friends before she knew the incident so she concidered him as a brother that she never had. When her aunt told her about her past, Siwan was the one who came to the rescue and offered her his shoulder to cry on.
She and Siwan met years ago when he was just having his annual vacation in Kangwon-do with his family. Whenever he's in Busan, they would communicate through a bunch of letters and when holidays come, they would exchange letters and heve their replies through their talks. This happened for 6 years, but he stopped and moved permanently to Seoul. She understood that their friendship would end, but she never forgot him. Their memories stayed in her heart.
As years passed, she became a student with a high reputation in their school. A jack of all trades: She's a singer, a writer, a student leader, and a public speaker all at the same time. She's supposed to be the student body president, the next team captain of their debate society. But that all came to a halt when she decided to take things up a notch. Some were there, cheering all the way, but most people criticized her choice. She could've been a better person, they said. Why would she even choose that life where there is no guarantee that she'll be successful in the long run?
With all of these judgements surrounding her, she can't help but to be pressured as well, but she wanted to show them that she will be seen under the spotlight, wherein she can shine with her group members. That's why she has this strong personality since people bashed her with a lot of comments when she was supposed to be a high school senior.

as their counterpart in SMEnt, they had a lot of staff meetings, but on their very first meeting, Ha Rin was staring blankly into space, at Baekhyun's direction, so he was misled and actually thought that she was checking him out. After the meeting, he rushed to her, and asked if she's eyeing him, but she just left him hanging.

A very brotherly figure to Ha Rin, and that's the way she likes it. She may be a manhater, but she still longed for someone to make her feel special, and that's what Siwan is giving to her ever since they were young. She starts to fall in love with him, but she is still too cautious and afraid to let anyone in her heart. She believes it's just a sibling feeling that she has toward him, but it changed when Hara came to the picture. Both of them like each other, yes, but it's only until there, because Baekhyun kept on unsolving Ha Rin's peculiar attitude.
first meeting:
They met under a tree on a stormy afternoon near the sea. Ha Rin was sleeping while He was waiting for the heavy rain to stop pouring. He took out his camera and flashed toward her direction. She snapped awake, and stared madly at him, thinking that he was a bad guy.
interaction:
When they were younger, they would actually write letters to one another, and collect them until they meet again. Now, they still do it from time to time, but when they really want to talk, he would meet Ha Rin in a coffee shop and talk about it personally.

It's the time when she was just about to have her debut stage, so she headed to Garosu-gil to give herself some space. She eventually saw an antique store, and she saw a couple necklace, and for the first time, she thought about love. She had this foolish thought that destiny might bring her back to her one true love through this necklace, so she bought the heart. When the cashier asked if she also wanted the key, she replied, "No, it's okay. I'll wait for that person who will have the key to my chained heart." well... rotten, actually.
