Mixed martial arts: Lee Jonghyun's not-so-tough happy together story.
Q: CNBLUE and sports.
JH: Each of CNBLUE members is doing different sports. Yonghwa hyung is playing the golf, Minhyuk is baseball, Jungshin is... riding horse(laugh).
Q: I heard you are doing mixed martial arts.
JH: I've liked sports since I was a kid. I was a judo athlete. I'm not good at ball games. Rather than those, I prefer more manly thing, using my body(laugh).
Last year, I did kick boxing. From the beginning of this year, I started mixed martial arts. I was introduced to the hottest UFC player Jung Chansung, and I am exercising at the gym with him.
It's been just three months since I took formal lesson. When I'm exercising with other athletes, sweating with men together, I feel like I am in the sauna, haha. And I feel happy because other athletes praise me.
Q: There will be many kinds of techniques in mixed martial arts. What is your best?
JH: I'm doing all equally. I'm good at wrestling and hit, but not good at Jiu-Jitsu. I can turn him over, but I meet difficulty the next step. Since I did judo, I'm good at wrestling(laugh). I have such sense, other athletes in gym are surprised at me.
Q: Ye~s, I see..^^ Then you must watch mixed martial arts games a lot? Have you ever been to the stadium to see the game?
JH: I really want to go. Today, there's a game of our gym brother, I'm planning to go there after this shooting. When I can't go there, I watch it on TV. I search the internet.
And I'm anticipating and cheering the championship match of Chansung hyung in August.
Q: How about the real match?
JH: I'm at the level of going out. Really.
Q: Ehhhh~
JH: I am a dark horse of our gym. All are saying that they want me to go out to the match.
Q: OK, I see. Any episode? I heard a rumor that you were bitterly defeated by 19-year-old boy...
JH: First when I went to the gym, there was a 19-year-old boy. I looked down upon him then I had a bitter experience. He was really great. Now he is my 'rival'. But I can defeat older brothers. That boy was very good(laugh).
Q: You must mind your face.
JH: I bought a good head gear(laugh). On the first day(laugh).
Q: What do you think is the attract of mixed martial arts?
JH: More than any other sports, I sweat the most.
Passing by Yonghwa: It seems you are interviewing a UFC athlete.(awkward laughs)
JH: I get healthy. The best thing is that I fall asleep quickly. Originally I couldn't sleep well. I sleep at 2~3am, if late, I sleep at 4am. But now,
Passing by manager L: He falls asleep at nine.
JH: I faint. Haha. As soon as I come home, I just fall asleep(laugh). I sleep before 12(laugh). I can't help but sleeping. After the exercise, I must sleep.
On earth, I've never imagined that I would fall asleep at nine(laugh). And after the exercise, my skin got better. Doesn't it look better? I think it's because I sweat a lot and I sleep a lot.
Q: To whom do you want to recommend mixed martial arts?
JH: I guess all men have ever thought once, if they do sports. It's a kind of men's dream.
For women too, who are going on a diet? You can lose weight really fast, as fast as it doesn't make sense, haha.
You may think mixed martial arts is tough. But it has rule, it's a sports. There are a lot of women in the gym.

Trans] The FNC 03: When do you dream a vacation?

Jonghyun: I exercise even when I’m busy. Although I feel tired, I exercise early in the morning. Even when I’m not that busy, I try to live a busy life. I go to gym in the morning, then practice. It seems it’s my disease, an occupational disease…

I’m studying English too, but to be honest I can’t do well. I’m not studying that hard(laugh).Exercise is for my health. I’m doing practice and study but I’m lack of time.

A day is too short. I do various things but if I can’t do any of those, I feel stress. I have work to do, but I don’t see my progress. I keep enduring then I feel limit. I feel depression. In that case, I sink down to the ground. But marvelously, I come up again.

Those periods are sometimes short and sometimes long. In those times, I torture myself. In that situation, I wish I could leave for tour. But I can’t have time for that. I feel hard mentally. Then I can’t stand it any more. I think almost all the people will be the same.

This year March to April, it was so serious. I was surprised to myself. Especially I feel more serious when I’m alone. I tried to think that it’s not just me who suffer, then I got to feel better as time goes by.

I want to go to Boracay or Phuket, I want to take a rest just once there without thinking anything. Won’t it be great with just being there? I want to see clear, silver and emerald color sea. I want to go such places as a honeymoon later. I want to try bungee jumping.

If I can have one year vacation, a tour round the world? No, I’ll go around just half(laugh).

Jonghyun’s daily schedule
12:00 Wake up. Eat.
14:00 Playing guitar, making song.

There’s a day when he keeps playing guitar and listening music while having break time. He usually eat and do other things in between those time.

Q : What’s thing that made you ‘feeling’ in a day?
JH : Playing guitar. I like it.

Q : For breakfast, lunch and dinner you cook by yourself? Or eating out?
JH : I call for delivery or buy it myself, depend on situation. I eat anything. I like meat!

Q : What if you get 1 free day, what will you do?
JH : I just relaxing myself without thinking anything.

Things in his bag are earphone, metronome for practicing, perfume (Bleu de Chanel on pict), and book because he thinks it would be useless if he do nothing at free time.
