Background : Her parents had the typical love story any normal Korean couple that went through. They met in college, started to date casually, fell in love, then married after graduation. Though, her father decided to take part in politics after serving his mandartory military service. He was suddenly aware of the country's public and international safety and wanted to take part in protecting South Korea on a larger scale. So MJ's father worked hard to get elected into a spot of the National Assembly, Korea's version of the Congress. Her mother also had her own occupation. MJ's mother became a famous writer for children books by creating the series called "The Adventurues of Choro," and was a public figure because of her husband's political position. MJ's parents had no intention on having children until things were more settled down in their careers, but soon MJ came into the world! Her parents were thrilled to have a girl in the family, but they also wanted to protect MJ from the public eye. MJ was never seen on television and sometimes people didn't even know her parents had her! MJ was sheltered for most of her life, but she lived a pretty normal life considering her parents occupation. MJ soon developed a carefree personality that was completley differenet from her parents. When MJ's brother was born, the same thing that happened to MJ happened to her brother. Life was normal for MJ's family until a fatal incident came upon her life. Her father was involved in an car 'accident' that lead to his death. A lot of speculation arised whether or not her father's death was a set-up, but nothing came out of it because the person who caused the accident also died. MJ was only about 7 when she lost her father, but the lose impacted her pretty badly. Her mother had to take care of two children all by herself, trying to keep up with a normal lifestyle for the family.

Personality : Despite all her shortcomings MJ is quite the character. She is not what you expect from a ex-politican daughter. MJ is so carefree is almost seems like she's lazy! She doesn't give two nickels about what people think of her and just goes with the flow. She has a very good sense of humor and loves to crack jokes, no matter how cheesy they are. But this is kinda like her charm. Upon first meeting, anybody can notice that MJ is warm, approachable, and has a very caring heart. Her smile is infectious and can lighten any room or anyone's mood. She prefers if everybody was happy instead of down-right sad. Whenever a situation takes a bad turn, MJ gets all awkward, not knowing really how to handle bad things.

MJ is often told she has a pretty face, though she remains modest and disagrees. She tends to stand out in a crowd, in a good way though. But there are moments when MJ just shuts down and is best to leave her alone. She gets saddened at the thought of late father or death in any matter, which is why she tends to avoid sad topics.

She is a loving and like a leaf type of girl. Her personality is the polar opposite of her past, which what makes people really start to wonder about her. Could she be pretending? Is it all an act? MJ wonders that herself. She loves to be happy and joke around but sometimes... it gets hard.

He's known as the snarky student who always thinks of funny comments that makes the class laugh... but not the teacher. He likes to put up a strong front with all his jokes and teasing, but he really is caring. He has a soft spot for MJ.

Love Story : MJ and Chen have been in the same class ever since 1st grade. They have always been around each other and practically should be best friends from how long they've know each other.... not! Chen has never spoken one word directly towards MJ in the whole time he has known her, he is always so busy hanging out with his friends Tao and Xiumin in the back of the classroom, while MJ would sit in the front. Chen has always seen the back of MJ's head and never really paid attention to girls at all. Until 3rd year of middle school came around. Hormones are going crazy, boys are getting taller, while girls get prettier. Suddenly Chen started to notice the beauty that MJ turned into. So Chen did what every normal boy did to get a girl's attention... by teasing the heck out of her. MJ was surprised that Chen started talking to her but the teasing soon turned into a war. The two would often get into small little spats that last no longer that 2 minutes. The conversation usually ends with one of them saying "Fine!" and walking away. MJ doesn't really consider Chen as a friend, more like an annoyance in her life. While Chen... thinks MJ is the love of his life,

Problems : Confusion! MJ thinks that Chen is nothing more than a teasing bufoon while Chen is hopelessly in love with her. The two can never seem to have a real conversation that doesn't involve teasing. Though Chen desperatly wants to get to know MJ better... especially since he saw her looking sad with those big eyes of her. Chen knows that there is something sad within MJ and he wants to be the person to find out what that is. If only MJ wasn't so stubborn and too carefree.

When did you meet Soori (the owner) ? MJ was about 13 years old when she stubbled into Soori's little coffeehouse. Sobbing and holding a very hurt arm, MJ ran away from the playground and went into the nearest building she could find. It was a cold fall day and the rain was picking up outside. Never before has MJ cried before since she was 7 years old. MJ didn't know why she was crying so hard that day. It could have been that it was the anniversary of her father's death. It could have been the fact the MJ has been holding in all her sadness for almost 6 years. Whatever it was MJ plopped down on the nearest table and just cried.

She was asking about your problem. Are you hesitate to tell her? MJ looks deep into Soori's eyes and doesn't hesitate to tell her everything. She talked about her father, her mother's pain, and the fact that her brother had to grow up not knowing the sad past. All the pain that MJ contained just flowed out as Soori gives her warm Chai Latte and cleaning the wound on her arm.

Why did you come to L'aime Coffeehouse in the first place? MJ thinks it was fate. The coffeehouse looked like a warm sanctuary compared to the gloomy environment outside... plus it was better than going home or to a bland hospital. She was just looking for a place that was warm and welcoming, not really paying attention to where she was heading. But to this day MJ is so happy that she walked through the doors of the coffeehouse.
