#1 Thing You Should Know : Writing is a type of art.

Writing is an open-minded expression; a way to convey ideas and feelings to others.

Now let me ask you this.

How do you create a painting?

First, you start off with an idea. You brainstorm and plan it out. Eventually, you'll start sketching it on a canvas. Once you have the outline of it done, you start painting and filling in details, trying to convey the overall message of the painting better.
Once that is over, what do you do? You eventually go through many revisions, touching up the painting to the best of your abilities. 
When you feel as if you've finished, you sign the corner of the painting stating it was yours.

Now, after reading that description, it sound very familiar doesn't it?

Writing is like painting a picture.

Painting a picture is like writing a story.

Writing is an overall mix of three attributes : Language, Creativity, and Inspiration.

Language - A powerful instrument by which we use to communicate; a tool we use to convey emotions; a weapon to twist words and torment others.

Language is not just about whether you spelled something right, or whether you're grammatically correct or not. It's about how you use language to get a point across as said in the examples above.

Creativity -  Making something new and unique; the use of imagination

Creativity is a state of mind; a way for you to exercise your brain and think, "Is this really me? Is there value to this?"

Creativity is to establish something meaningful and valuable to you. If you write a piece, and it is in no way, something you developed from yourself, where would be the art in that?

No Creativity = No depth, emotion, characterization, purpose, nothing

Originality and Creativity are two completely different things, although it may seem like it.

Think carefully for a second.

Does a story really need to be original to be art?

or,

Is it actually the way we interpret an already thought out idea, and make it our own?

Truly think of these two questions for a bit. Eventually, the point will cross over to you.

Inspiration - Influence upon the mind and soul; encouragement to do something

What is writing without inspiration?

Think of it as a sandwich with no bread, or a salad with no lettuce. It just won't turn out right.

Inspiration is the key to writing with emotion, with some depth.

Where do you get inspiration?

Think about this carefully too. You get your inspiration from something that caught your eye; something you've become emotionally attached to. Because of that experience, you are now able to write out freely with no problem.

With inspiration, you know the gist of the story that you're going to write. It's inspiration that leads us to the plots we eventually create.

Using these three aspects, you as the artist can design a painting using your own style; your own way of writing.

Writing is Art...

and it's up the the artist on how they create their masterpiece.
