This is the first time I've blogged about one of my stories, but I guess it was bound to happen since this blog really should be about AFF related junk and not my random mood swings -.- I had planned to talk about “House of Lee” and “Rain on your Wedding Day” but I want the later to go a few more chapters in and I think I'll wait until I finish Hol-olo before I talk about it.

I've wanted to make my own spin on “Boys over flowers” ever since I first watched the Japanese version way way back, I loved the story, loved the characters, loved the drama and bittersweet happiness in the end. BOF is one of those stories that can be translated into all languages and cultures since it's main theme is one that we all seem to face. The struggle to understand someone with a different financial background is difficult, usually when you have been with a set casteall your life, you tend to see the evils in other castes', you can be rich or poor, both have a unfair prejudice towards one another. BOF was able to lay out the cards, sometimes delving into caste stereotypes, but also thinking outside of those stereotypes.

Went I first started PB, it was because I was only thinking of the boy girl aspect, I wanted to do a female version of BOF and had CL take the spoiled rich girl position... but as I thought of this, wouldn't that further the stereotype that all rich girls are spoiled? I thought to my self “what if I kept them in how Bof had them set up? What if Taemin had to go to a poor school instead of a rich school?” being someone from a middle class school, I've encountered rich and poor bullies, so the idea of only rich kids, or only poor kids bullying isn't a hard aspect to grasp. It was a good opportunity to play with Taemin's character, and thinking of a reason as to why he'd go to a poor school when he was rich wasn't difficult at all and made him seem selfless, something I think he had to have if he were to even take on the 2NE1 gang. I wanted there to be a defined difference in the characters to the original characters, but I also wanted them to share in elements as well.

CL is probably closest to her BOF counter part, in the story she plays a girl who has alway's gotten her way, the only people who have ever stood up to her were her older brother (GD) and now Taemin. She's arrogant and hasty but deep down she's a lot more innocent then what she portrays at first. Unlike story-dara and story-minzy, she has little to no experience when it comes to the opposite , she doesn't know what they want and she isway to proud to bow to anyone. It's that innocent aspect that I think makes her compatible for Taemin in this story, both are outrageously innocent in this story and I think that makes it a bit more kid friendly then if I were to go my previous route and make CL promiscuous. I don't like writing , have nothing against it, I read it all the time, I'm just not confident that I could write it and the thought of anyone getting “” by something I've written makes me blush... so no , maybe some implied , but I think I'd never be able to post something ty -.-

the thing I'm having the most trouble with is Bom's character, unlike most BOF lovers, I've never like the second male lead, he always turned me off by his constant “I don't like you, I like you, I'm not sure if I like you” personality, I mean I liked the guy, he just seemed so wafty that I think I would have ended anything with him before it ever started... but back to Bom, I've always like Park Bom, she's always seemed like a sweet person so I was a bit hesitant to put her in one of my least favorite BOFcharacter positions... but then I thought of it from a guys point of view (this is quite difficult since I'm, the last time I checked, very much a girl) I think if I were a guy, I would go after a sweet and innocent girl like Bom, she's not “in your face” like Dara and CL but also doesn't seem like a push over either. Park Bom's character I think will probably be least like Rui's simply because the boy girl thing is switched up a bit, instead of the stand off personality Rui had, I thought I'd give Bom a more warm and inviting personality.

there's something I've wanted to discus the most in this blog, the dramas' them selves. BOF has been made into four dramas that I'm aware of, Meteor Garden, Hana Yori Dango, Boys Over Flowers and lastly, the new Chinese version that inspired the story, “Let's go watch the meteor shower!” which probably takes the most creative libraty towards the basic story line.

Firstly, Meteor Garden, I watched it after HYD, and didn't get all the way through because Taiwan is very good at putting EVERYTHING into a drama when they base it off something. To tell you the truth, it had it's highlights and downfalls, one of it, and I think most people will disagree, is the main leads... I have nothing against them, Barbie Hsu is probably the best of the main female leads, but well, I guess I just didn't feel anything for the main leads... probably the biggest highlight of the whole series is Vanness Wu, the very fist celebrity crush I've ever had... I was heart broken when I found out how old he was -.- but I figure now that I'm over eighteen it doesn't matter what age he is as long as he's not in his forties... not that that would matter either, since I have little to know chance of ever meeting the man... but yeah, it's a great recreation of the Manga, it probably fallows it the best and is the original drama^^

Hana Yori Dango was the second drama I have ever finished, the first being Hana kimi. I started watching it because Ikuta Toma was in it, so I watched it (later on I found out he didn't really have that large of a role and ended up being a jerk... either way, I had no regret watching it^^) I was able to get through both season two and season one, which is a huge feat since I rarely ever get through a drama unless I'm watching it while it's first being shelled out... Matsumoto Jun helped^^. The Makino character in it's self is a character I don't like when she's around the Rui character, but when she's around the Domyoji character I found her somewhat bare-able and kind of cute too^^... though her obsession with Hanazawa Rui while she was with Domyoji will always taint her character for me -.- the thing I loved the most in this drama was the relationship with the F4 boys, my favorite part in the whole series was when they were all getting up after beating each other up, they were laughing and fooling around as if they hadn't been fighting at all, I LOVED that, I'm a huge fan of close friendships^^

BOF!! the Korean version was probably the prettiest and touched on the “rich man poor man” theme the best. Unlike my friends, I again like the main pairing better then the secondary... I guess just because I'm into loyalty over passion (though this Rui was my second least favorite, nothing against HyunJoong, I'm just not into bland characters...) I like Jandi, while she wasn't the smartest of the Makinos, she's probably the most spirited (though she rivals with Makino, who is also very spirited...) I liked that she was her own person and not just a korean version of Makino. Jandi's poor statues was very pronounced, she had the least in all of the series and probably had the most annoying parents... but the thing I liked most of the drama was the closeness her and her family had, that even though they were rather annoying, they had a very strong bond. But well, the thing I liked most in BOF was Kim Bum, oh Kim Bum, such a good looking boy^^ the Korean version probably did the best with his character, he was such a deep character that I actually wished they could have just focused on HIM through out the whole series. Another then that I liked about the Korean version was that wasn't abnormally long and got a bit more creative then I had expected it to, though the shortness could be a down fall as well, it left a bit of things out and messed a bit with the character stories in a less then flattering way...

the last one, the Chinese version that inspired me... really, there aren't really that many aspect that are the same, but it's uniqueness from the other inspired me to mess with my own ideas. If you haven't seen it yet, it's pretty good, they change a lot, and they dub over the voices, but I find it a very enjoyable watch. a lot of elements were off, there's a lot of things it doesn't touch on, but I have to say, it get's the creative award if you compare it to the other four. The only real thing I don't particularly like, and it's more of a “this feels weird thing” is that it's dubbed over, and the talking aspect isn't to bad, it's just when they are running and such it make me fell a but awkward... it's a drama you never wanna watch with out headphones if you have a very Catholic family like mine -.- it doesn't have anything really dirty, just that the heavy breathing when they're running and Yuxun's whiny voice makes you mind travel else where... the biggest thing I think most people (except my self...) have a problem with this story, is that they don't write this version's Rui very well. there is little to no chemistry between him and Yuxun and while I don't really care for the secondary pairing, it made the story lack a bit for me. There is another element that made the story less desirable for me, the “rich man poor man” element was barely pronounced, Yuxun looks more like she comes from a middle class family then from a poor family and she seems very spoiled and not close to her family at all... but the rest of the “H4” make up for that, beside Daunmu, the three other boys had pretty good back stories, my favorite being Wei Chen's character, Ye Shuo. I haven't finished this series, but I have a good feeling that YS is going to get with Yunhai's older sister Yunduo (or she's going to get with her ex, who I think is annoying and and has some major anger problems... and well, I have a soft spot for Wei Chen's character) I would love to see this pairing simply because I've wanted to see the Akira character get with someone since Meteor Garden... don't tell me if it happens though, I don't want any spoilers *-*

now if you actually care, which I'm not sure anyone does, this is just me ranting, but which BOF drama is my favorite? That is something I've asked my self when I started the story, so far, all of them have something I like, MG for it's consitantcy (and Vanness Wu!), HYD for it's freindship element (and MatsuJun^^) BOF for it's blunt “Rich man Poor man” element (and Kim Bum *drool*) and MS for it's uniqueness (Wei Chen^^) they all have something I like, if anything, I wish I could just mash them into one and make an EPIC version!!! it could be called... erm, “Let's go watch the dango flower Garden”... ok, that , and I'm pretty sure there isn't anything called a “Dango flower”... Pretty Boy's a good title then, since all of the boy in every series have been pretty boys^^ (though I named my story after the song...) to tell you the truth, I'm still in the thought process on this story, it will most likely only really keep a few basic element of the story, since I hate copying things completely and I think it would be more interesting to the readers if it was bit more then just a cheap knock off of Boys over flowers.

I hope you didn't fall asleep while reading this, it's pretty long for a rant and I think if I saw it I probably wouldn't have read all of it... I mostly did this so my readers can have a little trip into my head (very scary place) and so I could maybe get others interested in it as well^^
