Lim Yoon Taek.

Maybe some of you knew, maybe some of you didn't.
Either way, I'd just like to pay tribute to Ulala Session's
Lim Yoon Taek

Ulala Session is a band from South Korea, composed of five members:
- Lim Yoon Taek
- Goon Jo
- Kim Myung Hoon
- Park Seung Il
- Park Kwang Sun

They were not well known before, reported to have performed absolutely anywhere, as long as they had a stage, an audience to enjoy their music. First of all, this shows me complete dedication and hardwork. Imagine not having anyone know who you are, or your efforts, but continuing to try anyways.

Their of luck came in 2011, as they began making themselves more well-known through the auditioning program, SuperstarK3.
They had particularly received sympathy and love for the leader, Lim Yoon Taek's battle with stomach cancer. Some had accused the group of fabricating the cancer in order to receive fond responses from the audience. A doctor was brought in, confirming the disease.

After fierce battling out, the group made it to the finals of the show, left with only opponents, Busker Busker. Although it was a close face-off, Ulala Session won and became champions of SuperstarK3.

They released single after single:

1) The Western SKy (Nov. 19. 2011)
2) Swing Baby (Nov. 26. 2011)
3) With You (Dec. 10. 2011)
4) Beautiful Night (May. 26. 2011)
5) Used It All Up (June. 2. 2012)
6) Goodbye Day (June. 20. 2012)

All were extremely successful.

Lim Yoon Taek was born in 1980.
He was the leader of Ulala Session and also was a director for performance shows.
He married his girlfriend, Lee Haerim, on Aug. 7. 2012.
He became a father October 7. 2012 to a healthy baby girl. His first words after the birth were: 'This is a miracle.'

He passed away Feb. 11. 2013 of gastric cancer. He left behind a wife and a daughter.
In his last twitter post, he spoke cheerfully of his daughter's 100th day coming up [Jan. 14].

I wasn't the biggest fan of Ulala Session, because I hadn't been following SuperstarK3 with commitment. I had watched the finals, and I was amazed at the level of talent and hard work going around. All my brain could really process was: 'hey the skinny, bald guy with glasses is kinda cute'.

Imagine my surprise when I found out, almost 2 years later that he'd passed away.
I had no idea about his cancer, hell, or even the fact he had been married and was a father.

I didn't even know the guy, but I tear up every time I see an article regarding his death.

I'd like to pay tribute now, because the world has lost a respected singer, a loving husband and father, a good friend, and a role model to many. Rest in peace, Lim Yoon Taek.

i always hate the fact that i come into learning about groups too late. i actually started to get into ulala session about 2 months ago because i discovered beautiful night. i adored them and felt horrible when i found out about yoon taek being sick. i can't help but wish i could comfort his family and closest friends. but at the same time, i don't believe that yoon taek would want us to reflect on this so sadly, he would want us all to move forward and be happy. i'm sure he achieved all of his goals :) and did you hear about psy's wonderful deed by covering his entire funeral cost? this man certainly was loved, and still is, and definitely will rest in peace ♥ never forgotten, yoon taek oppa
