I was plagiarized :(

So today I was informed about an author whom completely stole my story and just changed character names to fit their story and I know it happens all the time but I am just distraught. You obviously liked the story/idea why couldn't you just comment on my story and praise it for what it's worth instead of stealing?

 

I can not even begin to describe how upset I am. Like my stomach is in knots over this. It makes me feel extremely under appreciated and skeptical about posting anything else on here. What bothers me most is they didn't even bother trying to cover up that it was stolen. They just took it and changed the names of B.A.P. members.

 

The author took my One-Shot "Our Little Secret" and named it "It's Our Sweet Secret" -_- seriously? The last line of my one shot coincides with the title, how can you change it like that without changing any lines?

 

I'm considering changing everything to friends only simply because of this... any thoughts?

After reporting the story as stolen a moderator contacted the author and advised them to take it down or they would be banned from the website. I just want to thank each and everyone of you who responded to this with words of encouragement to help me through such a difficult and frustrating time. You are all so incredible and it just touches my heart in a way which words can not describe that a communtiy of people can ban together so quickly to defend one of their own. Thank you, all of you ^-^

I would've had a conniption fit if that had happened to me, and totally went off on the person who did it.

I'm glad it was resolved. And don't stop posting because of crazy people. It means you did good and they are just incompetent to do a story just like yours.

I feel so bad that you were a victim of. Writing is not an easy thing and for someone to just take away or copy what you've worked hard for is just unacceptable. I'm glad you reported it and it was taken down. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I'm late, but I'm glad it was taken down. Writing is such hard work and whenever someone plagiarizes any type of work (music, writing, design, art, etc.) it makes me so upset because I know how I'd feel after all the time and blood and sweat and blood and tears and tears and tears.... TEARS that were put in. >.> I'm just imagining the stuff I go through for bass and piano covers of songs and great god of art, the pain! And writing?! The plot, the characters, the re-reads, listening to me criticize myself, more pain... I mean, I'm happy with the outcome and I love what I do, but oh the pain. DX

I hope this comment didn't get too random. ._.
But seriously, if anything, if an idea is loved so much: Tell the author, get an idea of your own that can include some of the elements of the original, but let the person know or give credit to them. Say, "This was inspired by this story by this author."

I must be a bit (just a bit xD) late, but I feel so bad that you got plagiarized and you're feeling this way. I can't say I know how it feels but I'm assuming it feels pretty.... ____ty. I think people plagiarize because they're too lazy to work themselves but want the same recognition. This is absolutely inexcusable. Thankfully, (I'm assuming since the story isn't accessible anymore) it's resolved. But it really isn't resolved, is it? I see a lot of authors set their stories to friends only after experiencing plagiarism. It'll give you a sense of security but the readers that aren't your friends will probably be very disappointed. Plus, you might add someone untrustworthy without knowing and they can still plagiarize you. The risk is always there, basically. Do whatever you feel is right. Um... fighting? Hah, how do you end such a serious post?

Kind of late on this one, but I'm so sorry to hear about that! It's a good thing the story has been taken down, because plagiarism should never be tolerated. You worked hard to make something, and no one else should get the credit for it. Keep up the fantastic work on your fanfictions, and don't let authors like those who steal your fics get you down! <3

I've also found people claiming my edits as their own so I know how you feel. It feels like all your hard work was for nothing, like it's not appreciated at all.
However, don't ya ever think we readers don't appreciate your work. You're such an amazing author! I hope they'll take the plagiarized one down. Fighting!

Lol, people who do that obviously think that they can get away with it and that the actuall author won't notice. It's bound to come out sooner or later. It's really imature to plagirize.. (i can't even spell!)

Thats just wrong! I know I'd be going hellsica if that happened to me! I'm not really a commenter cuz I'm shy .__. But I felt bad. I mean, just because you lack originality doesn't mean you should just steal someone's story! It messed up. But good they told this person to take it down! Fighting!

WHAT?!! omg I can't believe that! how can they do something like that? ;__; it's horrible! you put all of you efforts into writing awesome fanfics and someone else simply steals it? unbelieveable :O...I feel so sorry for you ;_; FIGHTING!!
