He or She?

Writing in first has never been the Keeper's favorite past time. In fact, it is a challenge for me. Why? Because of the voice in my head. The 'I' sounds very much like Keeper.

This is the reason why I opt not to participate in most of the anime forum's monthly short story contests. Most of the prompts are paragraphs written in first person pov and the challenge is to continue the story. The 'I' in the prompt has its own voice that differs greatly from Keeper's 'I'.

Boys and girls speak, think and act differently and writers show these differences through dialogues or choice of words if it is in first person pov.

However, some first pov writers confuse me with their characters and it doesn't help that I hear voices in my head. How come Taemin sounds too much like a girl? Hoho. Once, I thought that the pov belongs to a whiny teenage boy, a brat, but as I read along, I realize that the speaker, the 'I' is a grown-up woman, a mother, my goodness.

Haha. I bet you'll check out my stories that are in first. I still laugh at my failed attempt in writing one in a guy's pov (Kikwang's oneshot).

So, yeah. Everyone needs practice in this area, including me. Or else my readers would unknowingly think a male character is gay.

I bet RPers are good at this hihi.

Writing in a guy's POV sure is challenging especially when most of the time I don't really understand what goes on in a guy's head. Hahahaha~
