So I was just sittin around, trying to write out a chapter for my story, when this idea came hurling randomly at me (as ideas are prone to do).

You know those writing themes, or writing challenges that they have on livejournal? Where they give a list of words or quotes, and you use them in a one-shot or a (series of) drabble(s)?

I was thinking of maybe doing one here! Like, putting up two or three prompts per month (or would that be too long? Maybe twice a month/every other week?) and then having people submit their one-shots (or up to three-shots). A chapter would be dedicated to all the submissions received, and a personal favorite for each prompt could be chosen. And I could also review each one-shot informally, if the author so wishes. It wouldn't be a full-out review with a rubric or anything, but more broad. Just with comments about the story that I think should be addressed, either positive or negative. It would be pretty easy to keep up the shop too. I doubt there will be mountains full of submissions, and even then, I could just hire a staff. Of course, keeping up a shop is harder than it seems, but all there really is to this one is posting up prompts every other week or every month. And occasionally do an informal review upon author's request. Makes it even easier that the submissions would only be limited to three-shots (but targeted for a one or two-shot). Some of them may even just be a drabble.

I suppose I could award the winner, or the top 3 (chosen through a poll maybe) karma points or something like that? idk...karma isn't that useful so it's not a very big incentive = - = maybe they'll just get the story featured on the front page of the workshop (or whatever it should be called)? Or maybe i could offer to do a graphic for them? Though I'm not very good at doing them :P

I'm pretty sure workshops/writing contests like this exist, but this one wouldn't be contest-driven, and people can use the prompts and/or submit at any time, even after the time period for submission is done; it would just mean that other people won't know of it unless they go back to the chapter that has the links to the story.
