Haesung walked to her room thinking deeply about what Rian had said in class. She never imagined how much she went through and now she understood how important JB had been in her life. She knew he was the friend she was talking about.

:Flashback:

“How did you manage to go through all that?” Haesung asked Rian really surprised to hear her story

“Because I wasn’t alone” she replied zoning out as if she was thinking about the past “No matter how hard it was, I always had this friend that was by my side. Just looking into his eyes or a word of comfort would make everything bad disappear”

Haesung was speechless after her confession. Even Yoojin didn’t have anything to say. The sincerity in her words hit them. In that moment Haesung realized that her feelings for JB weren’t nearly as strong as Rian’s. That moment she understood why Rian wasn’t willing to let go of him.

:End of flashback:

Haesung liked him, of course. She had always been his fan and she liked him. Besides he was sweet and caring but the way she cared about him was like any other good friend would do. She also knew that JB still had feelings for Rian. No matter how much he said he liked her, she knew that there would always be a part of him that loved Rian.

That made her think about Yoojin. Even though he was conceited and sometimes childish, he would always take care of care. That made her smile but then she came back to her senses embarrassed. Why would she think about Yoojin so suddenly?

She didn’t realize she had started writing something until she looked down. It was everything that Rian had told her and it fitted perfectly as the lyrics of a song. She smiled and kept writing. Now she knew what to do.

Later that day, she decided to call JB because there was something really important she wanted to tell him. He happily agreed to meet her.

She waited for him and some minutes later, he finally arrived and sat next to her. She smiled and he smiled back.

“So, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?” he asked her

“I have a present for you” she said and handed him the sheet of paper. He looked at it and read what it said.

“You wrote a song?” he asked happy and she nodded “Together…”

“Yes” Haesung said

“This is a duet, let’s sing it together next time” he said smiling

“No” she said shaking her head “I want you to sing it with another person”

“What?” JB asked surprised “Who?”

“Read the lyrics and then tell me what it makes you feel” she told him and he did what she said.

As he started reading, he felt a sudden pain in the heart. His eyes widened as he couldn’t believe how accurate the lyrics were.

“H-how did you wrote this?” he asked still shocked

“It was inspired by two people” Haesung said smiling “You and Rian”

He continued reading the lyrics and the end he saw she had written “for JB and Rian”.

“Why are you suddenly doing this?” he asked still surprised. He was hurting because he thought he had buried her feelings for Rian. He thought that he had moved on but he realized it wasn’t like that.

“You really think you like me, don’t you?” Haesung asked and he nodded “I think you are just confusing empathy with love”

“What?” he asked shocked. He hadn’t thought about that before.

“When everyone blamed Rian for taking away the batteries of my mic, you were the only who believed in her. You went to look for her when she was taken to the training camp because you were worried about her. You remembered her birthday and even threw a surprised party for her. You went to look for me in my town, but you forgot why you were there when she was hit by the ball. You went to hospital to see her and waited patiently outside even if she didn’t want to see you. You remembered her favorite flowers and gave it to her. When Eden made the press conference and you sang together, you held her hand tightly.”

Haesung made a pause and smiled to him. JB was shocked and again felt a pain in his heart. He stood there frozen as he didn’t know to say. A part of him knew she was right in everything she was saying. He thought he could forget about her but the truth was the he would never be able to do that. He had also thought that what they had were only memories but he hadn’t realized how much he cherished them. The truth was that what he and Rian had was more than memories.

“If you could have seen the way your eyes sparkled and the smile on your face, you would know what I’m taking about” she said and laughed “You are just making yourself think you like me because you are afraid. Afraid of admitting your feelings and screwing up again because you know you hurt her so much in the past”

“Haesung… I” JB still didn’t know what to say

“The truth is you see me as a good friend and I realized I do to” she said sincerely “Love cannot grow from one day to another”

“Haesung…” he suddenly said when she said “I do like you… as friend. I really appreciate you”

“I know” she said smiling “But you love Rian. So think we should break up”

“Fight for her or you’ll lose her forever” she said patting his shoulder with a sincere smile “Good luck”

Haesung waved at him and left with a smile on her face. She had just broken up with him but she felt happy, really happy that she had done the right thing and that she finally understood her and his feelings.

JB was still there thinking. He stood up and walked out more confused that ever. Maybe she was right… maybe he still loved Rian. Maybe he always did. He was so distracted with his thoughts that he didn’t noticed where he was walking until he heard a sudden honk. He looked up and saw that a truck was about to hit a kid that was trying to catch his ball. He didn’t think it twice and ran to save him. He managed to save the kid but the truck hit him. He fell to the ground still holding the sheets of the song and suddenly everything turned dark for him.

Rian ran to the hospital as soon as she heard the news. Tears were running down her eyes non stop and she didn’t even bother to wipe them. When she arrived, she saw Haesung on the waiting room and she couldn’t help but feel angry.

“YAH!” Rian said still in tears and grabbing her collar “YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD TAKE CARE OF HIM! Why didn’t you?!”

“Stop it” someone suddenly said holding her wrist, it was Yoojin and he looked mad “It wasn’t her fault”

Rian shoved his hand away. Deep inside she knew it wasn’t Haesung’s fault but she couldn’t help but feel that way. Rian walked away to see which was JB’s room and left Yoojin and Haesung alone.

He sat next to her and held her hand to comfort her.

“Yoojin ah, do think it was my fault?” Haesung asked feeling guilty. She was still shocked because of what happened. If she hadn’t told JB all those things, he wouldn’t have been so distracted.

“Of course it wasn’t” Yoojin said determined “JB always wants to be the hero”

He joked and she glared at him. Ok it wasn’t time for jokes but it cheered her up.

“I’m just joking” he said and she smiled “He was hit because he saved the kid, something any of us would have done”

“Thank you” Haesung said looking at him “For always being there for me”

“You are welcome” he said and smiled to her. There eyes suddenly met and Haesung looked away embarrassed. Yoojin coughed embarrassed as well and suddenly let go of her hand.

Rian walked to JB’s room and entered. He wasn’t unconscious anymore and he was surprised to see her there. His heart started beating faster and he smiled. For a moment, he forgot that his leg plastered and that he had wounds all over his body.

She didn’t say anything and she just started hitting him. JB was surprised that she was doing that. Tears were falling from her eyes as she continued hitting him.

“You are a pabo!” she yelled at him as she laid her head on his bed. He smiled and caressed her hair gently. She was shocked and looked at him.

“Don’t cry” he said smiling to her and wiping the tears on her eyes “I’m going to be fine”

“Please tell me you would be able to dance again” she said hurt

“Who said I wouldn’t be able to dance again?” he asked trying to comfort her but inside he was breaking. He wanted to cry also but that would be like admitting that he wasn’t going to be able to dance again. Dancing was the only thing he had and he couldn’t lose it.

“Do you want to go outside?” he suddenly suggested as being there depressed him a lot. She nodded and helped him sit in the wheelchair. As they walked out, Rian stared at the beautiful sky.

“Is been a long time since I’ve seen you cry” JB suddenly said smiling to her

“Don’t try to comfort me” she said coldly “It weakens me towards you”

Somehow her words gave him a little bit of hope and it made him smile. She looked at him and he smirked.

“Don’t smile” she told him and smiled as well “This is not a situation to smile about”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you smile also” he said sincerely and she was surprised

“What?” she asked “Are you saying I haven’t smiled all this time?”

“Do you want to know how has been your expression lately?” he asked and she nodded. He pulled a funny face that made her laugh.

“When was I like that?” she asked in disbelief

“If you are jealous, just admit you are jealous” he said smiling to her. She looked away “You look pretty when you are jealous”

She blushed and looked away. She didn’t know why he was being like this to her if he had clearly stated that he liked Haesung. It was as if he wasn’t the same. It was as if he was the old JB.

Some days later, it was finally the day of the last task of the audition. JB was nervous as this was his last chance. Also because he was going to sing with Rian. Haesung had arranged everything for him and Rian to sing from the hospital. She was going to record it and show it to everyone in Kirin.

He was starting to get impatient as she wasn’t coming so he decided to call Haesung.

“Haesung ah, are you sure she’s coming?” he asked and she laughed

“I already talked to her, don’t worry” Haesung said on the other line and then hung up.

JB sighed as the time had finally come and she wasn’t there yet. When he went in front of the crowd he put a smile and everyone clapped.

“I was planning to sing this with a friend but since she couldn’t come, I’ll sing it alone and I’ll put double effort on it” he said smiling. The music started sounding and he started singing with all his heart. He could feel the lyrics as if he was telling his own story.

When it was Rian’s part, he was about to start singing when he suddenly heard her voice. He smiled when he saw her walking towards the stage. She stood there next to him and looked at him sweetly. This made his heart jump faster and his hands sweat. He felt like a kid who had just fallen in love. The only difference was that he was realizing that he still loved her. That he always did.

When the song finished, they looked at each other lovingly.

When their eyes met, they couldn’t help but feel shy. She looked away and smiled at the crowd.

After the event finished, Rian went to talk to JB. She had something really important to tell him. She had been thinking about it for a long time and she finally made a decision.

“I need to talk to you” she said and he smiled

“Me too” he said. They went to somewhere they could be alone and she looked down.

“For a long time I’ve been holding onto you but I realized I shouldn’t do that anymore” she said sadly and that shocked JB

“What?” he asked confused. His heart suddenly broke

“You are dating Haesung now and she makes you happy and I’m glad” she said trying to hold back her tears “3 years ago, you gave up on me to pursue your dream and I don’t blame you but now is my time to forget the past and to focus on my future”

JB was shocked and he was hurt. She was right. He couldn’t be selfish to keep her from following her dreams when she didn’t. He deserved it. Now he knew what she felt 3 years ago when he broke up with her.

“I’m always going to care about you JB” she said smiling “And I wish you happiness”

After that, she ran away holding back her tears without giving JB a chance to say anything. He wanted to go after her but he couldn’t. He couldn’t be selfish. Tears ran down his eyes. Was that the end of them?

 

Finally, the day that they would announce the super idol members finally arrived. Everyone was really excited and happy. JB looked to his side and saw Rian with Ailee and Nana. They were holding hands waiting for the results. He smiled. He just wished she would make it and reach her dream.

“The winners of the super idol competition are… Yoojin, Uibong, Siwoo, Ailee, Hongjoo and the last one is… Rian”

Rian covered shocked and then smiled happily. Nana smiled to her and pushed her up the stage. JB was clapping like mad and when his eyes met hers, she looked away shyly. Now, she was one step closer to reaching her dream.

“We will also give Nana and JB a second chance to audition when they recover since they won too” the PD announced and everyone clapped excited. Siwoo and Hongjoo hugged suddenly and when they realized what they were doing, they pulled away disgusted. Rian was really happy to hear that. Both Nana and JB deserved it.

Rian looked at JB and smiled at him. He smiled back. Their longing looks said that they missed each other very much.

After that, the PD went to look for Haesung. He had something really important to tell her. When he finally found her, he called her.

“Shin Haesung” he called her and she looked back “I have to talk to you”

“neh” she said smiling

“We’d like to offer you a scholarship to go to study composing in a university in USA” he said and dropped open. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Those weren’t the kind of news that someone would blurt out just like that but knowing the PD, it was expected from him.

“Really?” she asked really shocked and he nodded with a smile

“We’ve already sent your application and they accepted it” he said “Hello to myself was included in Ye Eun’s album and Together was the song that was most voted during the audition. You have potential Haesung, don’t waste this opportunity”

“Do I have to accept now?” she asked a little bit hesitant

“You have to make a choice within this month or else they give your place to someone else” the PD said and she looked down. A part of her wanted to accept, another part of her didn’t want to leave all the people she cared about.

“Is there something or someone that is holding you back?” he asked her and suddenly the image of Yoojin came to her mind. She shook her heard blushed. Why was she suddenly thinking of him again?.

“Anniyo” she said “Just give me some time to think about it”

“Haesung don’t waste this opportunity” he repeated “You wanted to become a singer but weren’t good, now you want to compose and have a great opportunity ahead of you. Don’t lose it”

“Thank you” she said and bowed down before leaving.

She walked to the practice room still thinking about what the PD said. She was really distracted. Should she accept? She didn’t know what to do.

“What are you doing here?” someone suddenly asked. She turned around and saw JB. She smiled.

“I just came here to think” she said “How did things go with Rian?”

JB sighed and sat next to her. He looked defeated.

“She doesn’t want me” he said sadly “She said she wasn’t going to hold onto me anymore since she should pursue her dream”

She just listened to him and let him continue talking.

“It’s ironic how it was me who gave up on her because of my dream and now it’s her who gives up on me for her dream” he continued and sighed again “But I can’t blame her”

“But tell me about you” he said suddenly changing the topic “Why are you like this?”

She didn’t reply and just handed him the papers that the PD gave. He opened the envelope and as he read, his eyes widened.

“Haesung , this is great!” he said excited and then looked at her and frowned “Why don’t you look happy?”

“I don’t know if I should accept it” she said sighing

“Accept what?” someone suddenly interrupted them. They both looked at the door startled and saw a serious looking Yoojin.

“I think I should leave you two alone” JB said smiling and left. Yoojin walked towards Haesung and she tried to hide the papers but he saw them and took them. He read what was on the paper and his eyes widened as JB’s did.

“So this is what you didn’t want to show me” he said. A part of him was happy for her but another part of him didn’t want her to go. He hadn’t even confessed his feelings to her and he didn’t know if he would ever be able to do so.

“It isn’t that important anyway” she said nervously

“Really?” he asked “Then you don’t mind if I rip it, don’t you?”

Haesung was shocked when she heard that and felt like her heart would fall out when she heard the sound of paper ripping. Yoojin laughed at her expression and showed her the letter that was still intact. He had only ripped the envelope.

“If it isn’t important, then why did you react like that?” he asked teasing her

“Yah! That was not funny” Haesung said trying to snatch the paper from his hand. He put it up so that she wouldn’t reach it and they both tripped. Haesung accidentally fell over Yoojin and closed her eyes embarrassed.

When she opened her eyes, she realized that their faces were only inches apart. She blushed and Yoojin blushed as well. She immediately stood up and fixed her clothes, while Yoojin looked away and coughed. Haesung snatched the papers from his hand suddenly.

“Why don’t you want to accept?” he suddenly asked her and she didn’t know what to say

“What do you think I should do?” she asked looking at him

“You should accept, silly” he said smiling, even though he was hurt inside “This is once in lifetime chance”

“Do you think so?” she asked and he nodded

“Of course” he said and she smiled. She knew now that she had to accept but a part of her would have wanted him to stop her.

The news of her winning a scholarship to study composing spread out really fast everyone was happy for her. She was already packing up her things but there was still something she had to do. When she was about to go out, she bumped into someone. She smiled, it was exactly the person she was looking for.

“So I heard about it” Rian said “I’m happy for you, really”

“Thank you” Haesung said “I wish you good luck too”

“I think now I can consider you my friend” she said smiling and Haesung smiled as well

“Me too” Haesung said smiling

“But… there is something I don’t understand” Rian suddenly said and she looked at her with curiosity

“What?” Haesung asked confused. Rian looked closely at her

“What did JB see in you?” she asked and Haesung laughed

“Do you think JB really likes me?” she asked and Rian frowned

“Of course he does” she said a little bit hurt “He was willing to give up his dream for you, something he wouldn’t have done for me.”

“He was young and immature back then” Haesung said and Rian frowned confused “He didn’t know what he wanted and he was hurt because of what happen to his dad. Now I think he knows better, you should ask him”

“What are you talking about?” Rian asked confused

“You should figure that out yourself” she said smiling. She took out something from her pocket and put it on her hands. Rian looked at it confused, it was the K pendant.

“I believe this was yours” she said

“I already told you, I don’t need it” she said

“Just keep it” Haesung said and then walked out. She was going to have a last dinner with her father and her little sister and she didn’t want to make them wait.

As she was walking to the taxi, she looked up and saw Yoojin looking at her from the balcony. She smiled to him and he smiled back. For him, it felt as if she was already leaving. It hurt him so much since he felt like he had lost her.

The super idols were finally preparing to see who was going to be number one. The ultimate winner of the competition would sign a contract with a really important international company and they couldn’t miss this chance.

Everyone was on the waiting room, excited except for JB and Yoojin. Rian looked around and didn’t spot any of them so she started to get worried.

Yoojin was on the basketball court playing with the ball. That was the day Haesung was going to leave and he wasn’t feeling all right. He heard some footsteps coming from the stairs and he looked up.

JB walked down with some difficulty as his leg wasn’t fully recovered yet.

“What are you doing here?” JB asked him snatching the ball away from him

“Thinking” Yoojin replied expressionless. JB smirked

“Why don’t you just throw away your pride and go talk to her” JB suddenly said and Yoojin’s eyes widened

“What? Who said I was thinking about Haesung huh?” he asked nervously and JB laughed

“Let’s play a game” JB suggested “If I shoot and it gets in, you go and confess to Haesung”

“And what if I win?” Yoojin asked

“Then you can stay here and do what you want” JB replied and threw the ball to the hoop. Yoojin looked at it anxiously and it got in. JB smiled.

“I have to get ready” he said and left Yoojin. Yoojin took the ball and threw it, unfortunately it didn’t get in. He smiled. This game had never failed to help him make choices. Now he knew what to do

JB walked back to the changing room and Rian sighed relieved. He smiled happily when he saw her.

“I thought you weren’t coming” she said and he smiled again

“Were you worried about me?” he asked teasingly and she glared at him

“Of course!” she said angry and he laughed. He was glad to know that she still cared “But where’s Yoojin?”

“He is just following his heart” JB said smiling and everyone looked at him confused.

“JB… can you walk properly?” she asked hesitantly as she was worried about his condition. He smiled sweetly like always.

“I told you I’m fine” he said with a reassuring smile “If I wasn’t ok, I wouldn’t do this”

Rian didn’t felt better after he told her that because she was still worried but she decided to let it go. Now it was time for their individual stages.

This was Nana’s and JB’s last chance to make it. He took a deep breath as it was his turn to go. He could have easily chosen to sing a ballad but he decided to dance. He was aware that his leg wasn’t recovered yet but he wouldn’t let that bring him down. He wanted to prove himself that he still could dance.

He walked slowly as he didn’t want anyone in the room to notice that he couldn’t walk properly. When he got to the stage and the music started playing Rian’s eyes widened.

“What does he think he is doing?” she asked worried as she saw him trying to dance without affecting his injured leg. He was moving clumsily but they could see he was trying hard. As he tried to make a difficult turn, he fell down and everyone gasped surprised. That was it. The end of his dancing career was over. People around looked at him surprised and some pitied him. Rian stood up surprised and followed him as he walked backstage.

He went backstage and sat down feeling defeated. Some moments later, Rian went running towards him crying. She sat next to him and he smiled.

 

 

 

The only thing he needed to feel better was to have Rian next to him.

“You turning out like this…” she said hurt “It’s all because of me… because I hated you”

She felt really guilty but he smiled to her and held her hand tightly. She was shocked with his sudden action but didn’t react.

 

 

“No, it’s because I had you that I was able to come this far. .. Thank you. .. You were watching over me during my stage debut, as well as my last stage today… I’m glad you were there to watch over me. In the beginning and at the end, you’ve given me strength by being with me”

He took his pair of shoes and handed them over to her. She looked at him surprised.

 

 

“My 10th pair of sneakers” he said “You dreamed and sweated just like me, and you worked even harder than me. I’ve watched over how much you’ve suffered and worked hard for it. Now, I’ll cheer you on. Tonight, sing for yourself.”

“You still remember it?” she asked talking about the shoes and he nodded “What you told me?”

“I would never forget it” he said smiling

“Those shoes… really meant something to me” she said opening up to him after such a long time

“Of course” he said smiling “Those shoes were like couple rings for us”

Rian laughed at his comment and he smiled sincerely to her. She had really missed his sweet smile.

“Don’t worry about me” he said looking at her and holding her hand again “My dream of being a dancer was beautiful but now I have to pursue another one. Just go for yours”

“Don’t ever give up” she said and showed him her fist “Or I’ll punch you”

JB laughed and Rian smiled.

“Rian ah” he said and she looked at him “I’m sorry for hurting you so much”

“You don’t need to say it” she said smiling. She was actually thankful because it was because of him that she could make it that far.

She stood up and was about to go when he suddenly held her wrist and back hugged her. She was shocked for moment and her heart started beating faster. He rested his head on her shoulder.

“I know you probably don’t want to hear this right now or maybe you don’t believe me” he whispered in her ear making her shiver “But you have to know something… I still love you. Only you”

Rian’s eyes widened upon his confession and she blushed hardly. Did he really mean it or was he just playing with her? And what about Haesung?

She had a lot of questions but at that moment, she had to go to stage as it was her turn.

“I should go, it’s my turn now” she said nervously and walked away from him. He smiled as he saw her leaving. He felt that maybe he still had a chance.

Rian went out and gave a touching speech about herself and about her friends. Everyone who had been next to her during all that time could notice how much she had grown up. More than anyone else, maybe. She was going to sing “Day by day” a song she composed herself with the help of Yoojin.

Yoojin ran as fast as he could to the airport. He looked at his watch and regretted not coming earlier. He was running out of time. He didn’t mind how tired he was, he just wanted to catch her.

When he arrived, she saw that she about to enter. His eyes widened and he ran faster even though he was already out of breath.

“Shin Haesung!” he yelled with all his strength. She jumped startled after hearing his voice and turned around shocked to see him. He walked towards her and caught his breath before talking.

“What are you doing here?” she asked surprised

“I didn’t come here to stop you” he said looking at her sternly “I just couldn’t let you leave before telling you something first…”

“What is it…?” she asked nervously. Her heart was beating faster and her eyes widened he suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace.

“I like you Shin Haesung…” he sincerely said. If he had said it in another situation, she wouldn’t have believed him but his words sounded sincere. Her heart wouldn’t stop beating as she smiled blushed. Tears of joy started falling from her eyes.

“I like you too, Jin Yoojin” she said and he smiled brightly

“Promise me we’ll never lose contact” he told her looking at her into the eyes “And promise me you’ll call me if you ever need anything”

“I promise” she said smiling and she hugged him again. “Now go, you should go for your dream too”

He kissed her cheek and she blushed hardly. He waved at her as he ran away from the airport. Maybe he was still in time to go to the audition.

All the contestants had already done what had to, only Yoojin was left. The PD called him many times but didn’t appear. The principal sighed disappointed.

“Well since Jin Yoojin is not here…” he was about to finish when he was interrupted by the door opening

“I’m here” Yoojin said and went to the stage. He took his guitar and was about to start playing. He closed his eyes and thought about everything. His mom, the school, his friends, Haesung, his dream… Was this really what he wanted? Did he really want to become a super idol?

He opened his eyes and smiled.

“G-minor” he suddenly said and everyone looked at him startled. The judges were also looking at him as if he was crazy.

“Want me to do it again?” he asked and smiled “G-minor!”

The PD looked at him as if he had screwed up everything but his friends were smiling. They it had never been his dream to become an idol.

“Sorry guys but this is not what I want” he said “The day I find what I really want to do, I’ll let you know”

He walked out of the stage and people clapped at him hesitantly. He had a smile on his face and he knew he had done the correct thing. Rian went to him and smiled.

“You did great” she said playing with his cheeks

“Do you really think I did great?” he asked and she smiled

“Of course” she said. In that moment, JB suddenly entered the waiting room and saw them. He looked at them with jealousy.

“Are you two dating?!” he asked and both of them were startled

“What? No, we are just good friends” Rian said nervously. Thinking that he was jealous made Rian smile. Maybe he did meant what he said… but she was too confused to give him an answer now. She still wasn’t able to look into JB’s eyes after what he told her.

“I’m going to leave you two” she said nervously and exited the room. JB watched her as she left and sighed.

“What did you do to her?” Yoojin asked JB and the later glared at him

“What?” he asked “Nothing! I just… confessed”

Yoojin looked at him surprised and burst out laughing.

“OMG you confessed and she walked away!” he said still laughing “Way to go, man”

“Haha very funny” he said sarcastically and when he stopped laughing, he changed the subject “So… how things went with Haesung?”

“I just hope she keeps in contact with me” Yoojin said smiling “What are you going to do about Rian?”

“I’m not planning to lose her again” JB said with a smile on his face “I’ll wait until she feels sure about my love for her again”

 

 

 

 

8 years later

After Rian won the super idol competition, she was offered to become a solo artist but refused to do it. She knew it was a great opportunity for her but she knew that without her friends she wouldn’t have been able to do it. Nana took the place of Yoojin in the band and they continued their activities for some more years.

Later, everyone took their own ways. Uibong and Seul started dating and he became a really well known dance teacher. Yoojin became a teacher at Kirin arts and he was very happy teaching there. Siwoo, Nana and Hongjoo were still on an unresolved love triangle. Ailee became a solo singer with the help of JB, who became a really well know producer after he found a new dream. Rian became a hayllu star and now she had fans all over the world.

That day, Nana and Hongjoo had just finished performing and Siwoo was looking at them with sad eyes. Maybe he should just give up. He sighed as he walked towards Nana.

“Nana, I don’t think I can do this anymore” he said sad

“Do what?” she asked surprised

“I like you, I always have but you seem to be interested in Hongjoo. If that’s what you want, I’ll back off” he said

Siwoo looked down with sad eyes and Nana smiled and hugged him tightly. His eyes widened because of the surprise.

“What was that?” he asked shocked

“I was waiting for you to say that” she said excited

“What?” he asked confused

“Yes, too bad you took 8 years to do it!” she said and hugged him again “I have always liked you too Siwoo oppa but I had the feeling that you were taking me for granted so I decided to see if you truly had feelings for me”

“So… what do you feel about Hongjoo?” Siwoo asked confused

“I like him… as a friend only” Nana said and Siwoo smiled brightly “I’ve already told him and he is ok with it”

“Oh you make me so happy” Siwoo said and hugged her again

Rian walked to her seat in the plane. She was excited as she was coming back to Korea after such a long time. She had enjoyed her life overseas but she missed home. She missed her friends… she missed him…

She went to her seat and sat down. When she turned around, her eyes widened when she saw the person next to her.

“Shin Haesung?” she asked surprised

“Nice to see you too Rian” she said happily

“You are going back to Korea too?” Rian asked her and Haesung nodded

“Yes, Yoojin called me” she said smiling

“So he called you too” Rian said

“I told him to call you all” Haesung said and Rian looked at her surprised

“What?” she asked “What are you planning?”

“You’ll see” Haesung said and Rian suddenly looked distracted.

“You said you called everyone…” she said shyly and Haesung just nodded with a smile

“Do you… by any chance… still contact JB?” Rian asked suddenly with a little bit of sadness in her voice. Haesung looked at her surprised.

“I do” she said “What about you?”

Rian didn’t reply, which meant she hadn’t been in contact with JB since she left Korea. She sighed and just stopped talking.

Ailee was singing happily in the recording studio. She was going to release her new solo album with the help of JB, who was the producer. Ailee was singing while JB was monitoring her. She was doing well but JB felt that there was something missing.

“I think you reach higher notes, Ailee” JB said through the mic and she pouted “You can do better”

“YAH! When did you become so bossy?” she asked

“Just hurry up girl, we need to go to school” he said shaking his feet impatiently and Ailee smirked as he noticed him

“Why are you in such a hurry?” she asked teasingly “Is it because you are excited to see Rian again?”

JB didn’t reply, he just smiled brightly and continued doing his job. Of course he was excited to see Rian and Ailee could see than in his eyes. He was hoping she would finally accept him now.

Yoojin was already at school preparing everything, just like Haesung told him to do. He smiled thinking that he would finally see her again. He was so distracted that he didn’t notice two people were standing behind him.

“Boo” the two girls said and he jumped startled. They laughed as they saw his scared face

“YAH! You two are mean!” he complained and they continued laughing. Yoojin smiled when he saw them. Rian had become something like his best friend and Haesung was of course very important to him. He smiled at Haesung and she blushed.

“So… why did you call us over, Haesung?” Rian asked with curiosity

“I’m doing a play today” she said smiling and showed her the script proudly

“Dream high?” she asked and Haesung nodded “Isn’t it a little bit lame?”

Haesung frowned.

“You have to participate anyway. Even if you are a hallyu star now, you have to audition too” she said seriously and Rian glared at her. Haesung glared at her too. Yoojin started to get worried since he thought they would start fighting again like the old times, but Rian suddenly smiled.

“Well I’m glad you are not weak Haesung anymore and that you can stand up for what you want” Rian said and Haesung smiled as well. Yoojin thought he would never understand their frenemies relationship but that’s how girls were. They started chatting about their lifes in their past years until someone suddenly entered the room.

“Glad to see you all” a voice suddenly said and it made Rian’s heart jump faster. She turned around slowly and saw JB smiling to them. Her eyes widened in shock and her heart started beating faster. She waved at him shyly and he smiled. JB couldn’t hide his smile as he was too happy to her again. He was feeling nervous too but he didn’t want to show it. He wanted to look secure now that he was going to talk to her again.

“You are just on time JB” Yoojin said smiling but JB just ignored him. It was as if he was in his own world with Rian as they shared glances.

“Rian ah, I think we still have an unfinished conversation” he said and she felt really nervous again.

“Yoojin, you said you needed to show me something” Haesung suddenly said as she noticed they were interrupting something important and Yoojin looked at her confused. She sent him a death glance and he finally understood.

“Ah yeah, that” he said acting strangely and they walked outside leaving them alone.

Haesung was dragging Yoojin outside but he suddenly stopped her. He looked at her sternly and she was surprised.

“Yah! Shin Haesung” he said and she looked at him “Did you miss me?”

“No” she said holding back her laughter

“Aish you! You are lying” he said and she stuck out her tongue. Haesung started running away from him and he followed her, trying to catch her.

“Yoojin sem” some kids suddenly interrupted the couple as they approached to the place where they were standing. They looked at the kids and smiled.

“Who is her?” one of them asked him

“She is a very special friend of mine, Shin Haesung” he said smiling “She is a famous composer”

“She is your girlfriend, isn’t she?” one of the kids teased and both of them blushed hardly. The kids laughed upon seeing their reaction and they looked away really embarrassed.

JB smiled and looked at Rian with loving eyes. It had been a long time since they last saw each other and they had missed each other very much.

“What I told you that day… was completely true and sincere” JB suddenly said and she avoided his gaze as he was making her blush hardly. She was afraid that he might notice her heart beating so fast.

“What about Haesung? Didn’t you say you liked her?” she asked still a little bit unsure

“I thought I liked Haesung but it was just a confusion” he said “I told you, I wanted her to do well and I wanted to cheer for her but that’s what friends do, don’t they?”

He smiled after saying that.

“I like you” he said seriously “I get nervous whenever I see you. My heart beats faster and my hands sweat when I see you. I want you to do well and to be ok even if not there with you”

Rian blushed after hearing his confession. He smiled as he noticed that.

“H-how did you realize your feelings for her and for me?” she asked

“She helped me realized that the only person I love is you and it had always been you. I miss what we had and I want us to be stronger than before. I know I gave up on you for my dream but there’s not a single day that I haven’t regretted that decision. I know my dad would have wanted me to follow my heart instead of my mind but I was too immature to realize that. Now I know I don’t want to lose you”

JB approached to her and cupped her face making her look at him. His eyes were gleaming as he looked at her lovingly. He smiled as well and Rian could feel his heart beating really fast too.

She smiled as her eyes got teary as she was too happy. She still couldn’t believe he still loved her. Maybe they needed to go through all that to become stronger.

He smiled suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace and she felt like time would stop. She felt so safe in his arms and he felt so happy holding her.

“I love you Rian” he said once again without letting go of her. It was as if he was afraid that if he let go of her, she would leave “You are the one. It had always been you”

“I love you too” she said smiling and that made him smile as well. He felt like his heart would come off as he started leaning forward to kiss her lips. Rian closed her eyes blushed and tried to control her heartbeats but couldn’t. When their lips were about to meet, the door suddenly opened.

“We are back!” Yoojin suddenly said and Rian and JB pulled away embarrassed and blushed.

“Really great timing” JB said mad but Rian just laughed. She found it really funny. She was so happy that she was back with JB that she didn’t feel like getting mad at Yoojin for interrupting them. Although she did wished he had kissed her.

“Did we interrupt something?” Haesung asked

“Yes” both Rian and JB said at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed.

“What are you guys waiting?!” Seul suddenly appeared and told to go to stage. JB looked at Rian and smiled to her. He extended his hand and she took it. They both walked hand in hand to the stage.

Yoojin, Haesung and Seul walked ahead and Rian and JB were left behind.

“Wait” he said stopping her from continue walking

“What?” she asked confused. She was shocked when he suddenly crushed his lips in hers. Her eyes widened as she blushed hardly but she kissed him back. This time, it was really as if time had stopped and it was only the two of them. The kiss was sweet and with a lot of love.

When they pulled away blushed, they smiled to each other.

“Let’s go” he said smiling and held her hand again. They walked out and positioned themselves in the stage without letting go of each others hands.

As they began singing and performing once again all together, they felt really happy. It was as if going back to high school.

Yoojin and Haesung exchanged smiles and suddenly he took her hand. She looked surprised but smiled happily. It was clear for everyone and for them that there was a great love growing between them. Maybe she had been too blind in the past to notice that there was such a nice guy that loved her next to her and maybe he had been to stubborn and proud to admit he had fallen in love with the clumsy and obnoxious girl but at the end, they were together.

Yoojin didn’t want to let go of Haesung’s hand as he smiled to her.

“I’m proud of you” he said. He had never been the kind of guy that would be sweet to someone but now he had learned that he should open up with his feelings to let happiness in his life. “For everything you’ve achieved. You deserve it”

“Sweetness doesn’t suit you, Jin Yoojin” she joked and he laughed. “But I’m proud of you too. You didn’t let anyone tell you what you should dream for”

Yoojin suddenly leaned and kissed her cheek once again. She was startled and blushed hardly. He smiled as he noticed her nervousness.

Meanwhile, Rian and JB didn’t let go of each others’ hands during the whole performance. They looked at each other lovingly as if they were back to their trainee days. Between them, there was a love that had always been there, a love that never died. They just needed some help to realize that. Now JB knew he should cherish her very much because she was really precious to him.

When the presentation finished, JB pulled her closer and hugged her tightly. She rested her head on his chest and wrapped her hands around him as well, both with wide smiles on their faces. Yoojin and Haesung hugged each other too, who shyly looked at him. Siwoo and Nana also hugged, as well as Uibong and Seul.

That wasn’t going to be the end of their love stories; it was only a new beginning.
