APPEARANCE after graduating high school and coming back from the army, he decided that he could use a fresh start and dyed his hair red, his first act in an attempt to finding his own self outside of what he had been told from others. the second thing after returning was getting his ears pierced, one on each side. maintaining them has been a bit of an annoyance but he enjoys how he can elevate his look with just simple studs or small hoops. he’s yet to venture out into anything more yet. with a pretty face, he’s usually on the receiving end of compliments from both men and women but when he’s not smiling, he can appear pretty cold and difficult to approach. his skin is always clear due to his commitment to his skincare routines and the occasional light makeup to cover up his dark circles from all nighters. he usually just leaves his hair as it is when he’s at home but if he’s going out, whether it’s to class or for a meal, he makes sure to nicely style his hair so it isn’t just laying flat and messy on his head. ref. nitro era (more specifically this video)

BACKGROUND

yeojun has had taegyun by his side for as long as he can remember. the two grew up together and as they continued to attend the same schools, it was inevitable that they would become practically glued to the hip. if yeojun was the sweet and well behaved model student, taegyun was the fiery troublemaker who always wanted more out of life than just good grades and studying. they seemed like polar opposites and yet, they were a perfect match.

since yeojun's parents were quite distant, rarely checking in on him other than to confirm his grades, he really only had taegyun to turn to and it was no wonder he began to develop feelings beyond friendship for the other. he never really had an interest in girls, especially since so much of his time was occupied by his best friend, and as he falls for taegyun, he can't help but wonder if these feelings will ever be reciprocated or if he'll just be nothing more than a "friend." it felt even more hopeless once high school came around, taegyun constantly in and out of relationships with any girl who asked him out. it was fun, he had said. nothing too deep and just a way for the both of them to pass the time until the feelings faded away and another girl came by to ask him out.

starting to lose hope in having any chance with taegyun, yeojun finds himself a boyfriend, an attempt to bury away his feelings and try to move on with his life. what he doesn't expect is that this new relationship would cost him everything.

when he finally sits taegyun down and properly comes out, telling him that he now has a boyfriend, nothing could have prepared him for the reaction that came next. taegyun just stares at him, confusion written all over his face, tinted with a bit of betrayal before getting up and just walking away, leaving yeojun with his heart shattered into pieces.

taegyun had just left him. he had just thrown him away. his best friend since childhood had turned his back on him and yeojun had no idea how to stomach that realization. it seemed that coming out brought nothing but suffering into his life, his own father enraged and abusive upon finding out. he eventually left home, staying with his boyfriend and left to wonder if something was truly wrong with the way he loved.

as senior year rolled around, yeojun couldn't seem to wait until graduation, desperate to get away from the suffocating situation. ever since taegyun ran away, a part of him felt broken and lost. even if his old friend seemed to try and talk with him, he couldn't bear to look at him again and spent the rest of the year just avoiding him. he didn't have the stomach to bear what taegyun might say. his heart already hurt enough.

as soon as he graduated high school, he decided to enlist in the military, desperate to get away from it all. he had no plans of returning to seoul, cutting ties with his family and he eventually broke up with his boyfriend as well, the feelings between them never having really been that strong and real.

needing a place where he could start over, he decides to apply for jeju university, somewhere far away enough from home where he could feel a bit more free. no more parents. no more taegyun. just a second chance to live his life.

PERSONALITY

pos empathetic, helpful, reliable, friendly
honest neutral emotional
stubborn, harsh, hesitant, insecure neg

— during his high school years, he was definitely more on the quiet side, focusing more on his studies and his relationship with taegyun so there seemed to be no need to really interact with others. he wasn’t cold or rude about it but he just didn’t have much interest in anyone outside of his little world with his best friend and during those days, that was all he really needed. being more quiet allowed him to notice more, listening rather than speaking, and he became quite an empathetic person, being more attentive to the emotions and words of others instead of talking over them and drowning them out. even as he grows up and begins to deal with his own problems and emotional turmoils, the realization of his own hurt only helps him become more empathetic to those who are also suffering and his heart goes out to them.

—he opened up a lot more during the military. now that he no longer had taegyun by his side, he was desperate for new relationships and slowly came out of his quiet shell. in no way did he suddenly become loud and outgoing but he definitely had a gentle and friendly nature about him that made him easy to approach. he greets others with a bright smile, plays around and teases to ease the tension and awkwardness of new relationships, offers to pay and always brings around snacks or gifts. perhaps he was just trying hard in order to keep people around him but at his core, yeojun is truly just a kind and friendly soul.

— despite also being a freshman, due to his slightly older age, he hopes to be more of a support to his peers and is always willing to offer his help in any way. even if he isn’t asked, he’ll take the initiative when he can sense another’s distress, wanting to ease their burdens. he knows how lonely it can be to have no one on his side and he hopes to prevent that experience for others. being older also gives him a sense of responsibility and he’s known to be very reliable. he’ll always do his part in school and if you ask him for anything, you can trust that he’ll get it done no matter what. whether it’s advice and emotional support or if you just forgot something at the dorms and need it before next period, he’s your guy.

— yeojun is also pretty honest but it’s not in a way that puts people off and makes them offended. if anything, he knows how to package his words up in a pretty package and bow so they’re easier to hear. he tells people when things seem off and isn’t afraid to share his opinion during group projects because beating around the bush just seems like it wouldn’t be very effective. even when you come to him, if you’ve done something in the wrong, he won’t hesitate to tell you but he’s very gentle with his words and there’s nothing harsh or blunt about his honesty. of course, the only person he isn’t too honest around is taegyun, hiding his heart away from the other.

— now, if his friends and peers view yeojun as a friendly and easygoing guy, taegyun would be the only one to have much more to say, being the sole person to see different sides to yeojun. yeojun doesn’t enjoy showing his emotions to others and yet, he can’t help but feel them so strongly around his once best friend. no matter how hard he tries to shove them deep down, taegyun’s mere presence always just unlocks so many hidden feelings. before he knows it, he’s snapping at the other or on the verge of tears, never seeming to be able to keep his composure when taegyun says something that pushes his buttons.

— he’s also pretty stubborn around tae, which frustrates the other to his core. it’s as clear as day that he still carries such strong feelings for his long time crush and yet, he refuses to give in, keeping a wall between their hearts as best he can. it’s more of a safety mechanism, not allowing himself to budge in his decision to indulge the other so that he doesn’t have to go through the same hurt again.

— of course, this stubbornness causes him to be quite harsh to taegyun, allowing his pent up emotions to just lash out whenever the other seems to come on a bit too strong. normally, yeojun is a very gentle and sweet soul, only wanting to ease the burden’s of others, but with taegyun, he can’t help but snap at him from time to time. the history that they share creates such frustrating feelings within him that he can’t help but be cold with his words at times, desperate for the other to just leave him be so he can bury his affections away forever.

— despite all of the thick and cold walls he puts up, he’s still just a hurt child on the inside, desperate to protect himself. whether it’s pursuing a relationship with taegyun or freely expressing himself with his uality and identity, he can’t help but hesitate due to his insecurities. he carries too much hurt and fear from the past that he can’t seem to fathom any different outcomes than the ones he had already experienced. it terrifies him, the idea that being abandoned could be done so quickly and so easily that it’s no wonder he hesitates to chase after anything important to him. he’s become so cautious about the things he had once dared to be vulnerable with that at times, he can’t help but wonder if he’s losing so much of his potential love and life due to the hold the past still has on him.

* notes.
— reliable and kind despite sometimes acting like a nagging mom
— only really is cold and mean to tae
— is usually the go to person for emotional support
— offers help and always takes care of his peers.
— makes sure to be light hearted and playful when giving advice but is still sincere and wise

— she has a very bright and outgoing personality, not afraid to talk to anyone and initiate relationships. this tends to make people a bit confused on her intentions, usually assuming she’s trying to pursue them romantically but saerom simply seeks deep and intimate friendships. she’s very open minded and is extremely loyal to those she chooses to invest in. always saying what’s on her mind, she doesn’t hesitate to stand up against even her seniors if they’re in the wrong. even with her friendly attitude, she won’t back down from putting someone in their place if they’re out of line, sometimes unable to understand the audacity of people, especially those who use their seniority to try and assert power over the underclassmen.

— the first place they met was in one of their classes, bumping into each other quite often due to being in the same major. they eventually get put in the same group for a project and saerom is interested in befriending someone her own age amongst the freshmen. she had also taken a couple years off to take care of her sick mother and was a bit worried about being older than her peers so when she found out yeojun’s age, she thought it would be nice to become his friend. she always approaches him first and offers to eat, even sitting next to him during class. he can’t help but become a bit wary due to her enthusiasm and sudden clinginess. he stupidly assumes she’s romantically interested in him and tries to distance himself but once they resolve the confusion, they become close friends.

— she often teases him about his assumption, both of them easily able to banter with each other now that the air has been cleared. he’s grown to become very grateful for her presence and knows that he can always rely on her to have his back. while he’s busy trying to look after everyone else, she’s always looking out for him and reminding him to rest and put himself first at times. she urges him out of his comfort zone but also respects his requests for solitude. people tend to assume they’re dating because of how well they get along, always joking around and caring for one another. she’s truly his safe haven and he’s relieved that he can finally be comfortable doing skinship and expressing love and affection with someone without worrying about how they’ll take it. she also becomes the first person in uni that he eventually comes out to and it’s the first time he’s ever received a positive reaction to the confession. she gives him a lot of advice on his worries concerning taegyun and he’s always ready to drop anything for her in case she needs him.

UNIVERSITY LIFE

MAJOR architecture
ROOM PREFERENCES would prefer a single but is also okay with a double.

SCHEDULE despite not being a morning person, he makes sure he only has morning and afternoon classes so he can have the rest of the day available for other things. his fridays are class free and so he can usually be found in the achitecture building, working on projects, or walking around jeju to photograph any potential inspiration he can use. he works part time as a barista at a cafe from monday through friday after his lunch and is usually studying once his shift ends and he's had dinner. weekends are reserved for hangouts or any potential plans that might come up.

DIRECTION

— yeojun earns money through his part time job at a cafe, also reaping the benefits of free coffee while he's there to keep him going throughout the week. he may hate waking up early, but he's diligent and responsible enough to always be on time for everything, only missing a shift or a class if he's on the brink of collapsing.

— he's not really one to want to go out and party but if he's invited, he usually ends up going, wanting to be around company and mostly wanting to make sure everyone stays safe and manages to get back home in one piece.

— i think the two most important parts of his development would be his acceptance of himself and the relationships that he makes, specifically saerom and taegyun.

— from the first two times he came out (to his dad and to taegyun) they were both met with such negative responses that it was no wonder he decided to never share that part of himself with anyone else ever again. however, he knows that his uality is a part of who he is and he doesn't want to live in quietness and shame forever. despite those desires, his fear is much bigger and much louder so it's almost impossible for him to truly chase after that freedom. he wants to be free to explore who he truly is, he wants to find other people who share his experience, he wants to go to gay bars, experience pride, just find a place where he doesn't need to hide who he is but the fears and traumas he carries always seem to hold him back so i would love it if he could slowly start to learn to let those go for his own happiness.

— i think a big push towards his own self acceptance would be through saerom and taegyun. saerom becomes someone who he feels so safe and comfortable around and also the first step in healing his old scars as she fully embraces every part of him, allowing him to find freedom in her presence. she welcomes all of him and makes him happy to be who he is, allowing him to start developing some courage through her encouragements and enthusiasm.

— through taegyun and their complicated romance, he has to face his fears of abandonment and wrestle with the idea of whether or not he deserves this kind of love that still seems taboo to some. in allowing himself to accept and return taegyun's feelings, he finds himself wanting to pursue and embrace his uality as an important part of his identity and through taegyun, he finds that his desire to love freely begins to overpower his fears of being judged or thrown away.

interview

hello! welcome to the jeju university family! can you tell me a bit about yourself?

evening! he greets and takes a seat, looking around before glancing up to fix his bangs. about myself, hm? well, for starters, my name is han yeojun and i’m 22 years old which seems a bit old for a freshman, no? he chuckles, getting comfortable as his arms cross over his chest. mm, what else? ah, i’m a bit of a coffee addict and i’d like to think of myself as pretty friendly and adaptable to people’s personalities so as long as you’re not a complete , we should get along just fine.

out of all the colleges in korea, why did you pick jeju university and why your major?

despite the smile still lightly resting on his face, his eyes seem to grow distant at the question. mm .. i suppose both questions could be answered with the word home. jeju because i wanted to get away from home and architecture because i wanted to build a home. he chuckles. the sound feels empty. deciding he should probably expand on his answer, he finally manages to maintain eye contact again. i guess i’m still searching for a place of my own .. or even just .. my place in this universe? if that makes any sense. ever since i was younger, my house never really felt like home. i think i’ve always just been eager to truly find the space where i feel free and safe to just be me and if i have to build it myself, then so be it.

where do you see yourself in 10 years?

ten years, huh? wow, i dunno. i’ve never really thought too much about what i’d like my future to really look like. i guess, it’d be nice if i was a successful architect or else these college years would be a waste, huh? laughing for a brief moment, the sound slowly died down as he mused in thought for a while longer. ten years … i guess i just hope i’ve found myself by then .. that i’m unashamed to be myself to my fullest and that i’ve finally found a place to call home. he looks up, a sheepish grin on his face as he tries to lighten the mood. oop. that was a bit too honest, wasn’t it? i’d like to carry the relationships i make here with me even ten years from now. that’s a nice answer, right? of course, making good money would also be a nice addition!

what would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

ah, one of my least favorite questions. he laughs. my biggest strengths … alright, let’s go with weaknesses first. those always seem easier to answer. i think i have a tendency to hold myself back. i dunno if it’s insecurities or fears but .. i guess i don’t really allow myself to be free? i always encourage others to follow their hearts and that everything will work out how it’s meant to be in the end but i never really seem to be able to convince myself of that in my own life. even if there are things i really want, things i want to chase after, i can’t seem to allow myself to take that leap, to jump right in despite the consequences that may follow. he shrugs, scratching at his head. as for strengths … god, i never really know. i guess i’m a good guy to come to when you need help? life can be pretty sometimes and i know i would have appreciated someone to turn to during my times of hurt and confusion so i really just want to provide that for the people around me if i can.

as a freshman you will reside in chungsam hall, what do you look for in a roommate? any lifestyle habits that you find intolerable?

in a roommate? i’m pretty chill with most people so i can’t really say i have a specific preference. his brows furrow in thought, wanting to provide a better answer than that. oh! i guess something i can’t really stand is if they’re a complete slob? if we’re going to be sharing a room, i think it’s common courtesy to take care of the space we live in. i don’t mind a mess here and there but if they have absolutely zero regards for hygiene … i might have a thing or two to nag about.

what are you looking forward to the most as an incoming freshman?

looking forward to the most … honestly, i’m really just excited to be in a new place. i’d like to learn as much as i can and build good friendships while i’m here. this is kind of like life’s last stop before being thrown into the world of adulthood so before those years come, i want to enjoy my right now to the fullest. i want my college years to help me strengthen my sense of self so that i’m prepared for whatever the future may bring me.

PERSONALITY TRAITS stubborn, outgoing, anxious, confident, impulsive
PERSONALITY

— if taegyun hadn’t preferred to spend all his time with yeojun in high school, he would have definitely been the kind of guy to be constantly surrounded by people, invited to every party and receiving constant confessions from his schoolmates. he had always been outgoing. it seemed to come with his attitude of not caring too much and it just made him one of those guys that you could easily start a friendship with. he never really felt the need to put up a wall and had always been able to easily make jokes or converse with anyone around him. of course, it meant that he also never really shied away from saying what needed to be said, usually resulting in him getting into fights here and there.

— he also carries a sort of confidence that seems to attract others to him. he doesn’t spend too much time worrying about how others view him or how he should present himself, not really seeing the need to worry about such things. he is who he is and that’s that. of course, he has a bit of confidence in his appearance but rather than being incredibly vain, he just accepts it as a fact that doesn’t really need to be dwelled on for too long. if anything, he just likes to joke about his good looks, mainly to annoy his friends who complain about how he won’t struggle in finding a lover or to tease yeojun since the other can’t seem to deny it no matter how annoyed he appears.

— now, to everyone else, he can come off as a really fun and easygoing kinda guy but he can still be just as much of a mess as anyone else. of course, the only person who means enough to draw this part out of him is yeojun.

— he’s usually the type to take life as it comes, not really having too much of a direction for his future and yet, when it comes to yeojun, he refuses to stand down and let him pass. he stubbornly pursues the other, determined to make his genuine heart known. even when they argue, he fights back, challenging yeojun’s thoughts and feelings whenever he can.

— this determination also leads him to be pretty impulsive, too caught up in his feelings for yeojun to pause and think about the consequences. he only ever leaps into action when someone personally wrongs him or when yeojun is involved and it’s as though he only knows how to act with his heart in those moments. if yeojun is in any kind of trouble, he won’t even hesitate to step in, sometimes even misreading situations because of his need to protect the other.

— so much of this stems from his anxieties. he was never really an anxious soul but that was only because he never had a reason to worry or had anyone that affected him so badly. as much as he tries to hide it, there’s always a quiet fear festering within him, the thought of yeojun disappearing from his life forever eating away at him every moment they’re not together. the fact that someone so important to him was able to vanish so easily unlocked a panic in him that he never knew he could feel.

BACKGROUND he was raised by his tough single mother, always getting a scolding for not doing so well in school or being tangled up in fights. regardless of their constant bickering, the two have a good relationship and are still protective of each other. he was always quite carefree and the only source of stability and grounding in his life was yeojun. his grades improved because of him and he tried to get in trouble less as to not completely inconvenience his best friend. he lived a pretty normal life, nothing he couldn’t handle ever came his way — until yeojun decided to disappear after high school. the loss of the most important person in his life had created a sort of trauma within him, terrified that he’d never see him again, especially when he still had so much to say and a future with him that he wanted to live.

remembering how important the concept of a home was to yeojun and how he had been contemplating studying archicture in the future, he decided to pick a similar major in hopes of one day meeting him again. even as he made new friends, kept busy with sports and classes, he could never seem to calm the anxieties within his heart.

LOVE STORY (love story will focus on their reunion in uni)

i. the first meeting. yeojun had come to jeju to forget his past, to start fresh and move on. what he hadn't expected was to see the one person he had wanted to avoid for the rest of his life. kwon taegyun. having been assigned a big joint project, it was organized so that the architect majors would work with the architectural engineering majors to put together a presentation for a structural model of their creation that was both aesthetic and functional.

the project members had gathered in an empty conference room, waiting for some of their sunbaes to arrive and yeojun was busy preparing cups of coffee for everyone to enjoy when suddenly, he walks in. yeojun turns around and goes silent in shock when he locks eyes with his once best friend and long time crush, feeling as though he'd just been punched right in the gut. nothing could have prepared him for this unexpected reunion and the only thing that snapped him back to reality was the feeling of scalding water burning his hand. with a sharp hiss, he pulls his hand away from the machine, the action having taegyun step over in concern, reaching out towards him as he asks if he's alright. yeojun yanks his hand away, the movement harsh enough to leave the room quiet with confusion. mumbling out a soft apology, he excuses himself to the bathroom, taegyun soon following after him.

"that looks like it hurt."

yeojun turns the water off to face him. "what're you doing here?"

"oh, so you remember me." there's a grin tugging at taegyun's lips and yeojun only grows annoyed, too many emotions welling up inside of him.

"i asked you what you're doing here."

"what does it look like i'm doing? i'm attending school, of course."

"stop joking around. an architect engineer? you never even had an interest in this before. the hell are you trying to do right now?"

"i could have grown to like it during our senior year. ah. but there's no way you would have known that, huh? since you ran away every time you saw me."

yeojun clenches his jaw, needing a moment before trying to speak again. "why'd you follow me here then?" he gestures to the bathroom. "it's not like we're friends anymore. what're you trying to do now?" he pauses and looks away. "you don't even know what i did to try and forget those feelings..."

"hm?"

"nothing. since we're project partners, let's just do our part and get it over with. try not to cross the line. sunbaenim."

with that, he brushes past taegyun, chest tight as he struggles to keep the resurfacing affections and emotions for the other under wraps.

ii. the project. of course, despite yeojun's wishes for them to continue on as strangers or even just project mates, taegyun has absolutely no desires to do so. he was aware of his feelings for yeojun now and there was no way he was going to lose him again.

as they work together, yeojun can't seem to escape his feelings, especially with taegyun constantly showing up as if he's determined to torment the other. he'll follow yeojun when he's out taking reference photos, saying that as a sunbae, he's just making sure his hoobae is staying on task. he'll pop in whenever yeojun is talking to someone, acting as though the other party was just who he was looking for and yeojun just coincidentally happens to be there too. he'll even nitpick at yeojun's work just to or keep him around longer.

ex. "jiwoo, there you are - oh, yeojun. you're here too? what a coincidence. let's go get something to eat."

ex. "these measurements are all wrong. are you having trouble focusing? then again, it must be pretty hard to concentrate with such a handsome person in front of you."

despite all of this, yeojun refuses to snap and give in, simply shooting him the occasional glares but making sure to keep a wall between them. of course, he'll probably grumble about taegyun when he's alone, scoffing in disbelief at the audacity the other has but never being able to even convince his own self that he hates any of it. regardless, he continues to treat taegyun as a school senior and not a friend.

iii. the proof. a couple of weeks have gone by and the two of them have developed a sort of bickering relationship. of course, taegyun would rather they be sweet with each other but he appreciates the fact that yeojun at least interacts with him.

still, they seem to be going nowhere in the romance department until one night confirms things for tae. they're staying up with their project group to finish working on some details when yeojun excuses himself to the bathroom, needing to splash some cold water on his face to wake himself up. taegyun gets up as well, needing some coffee from the vending machine when he bumps into yeojun's chair, accidentally knocking over his backpack. muttering a soft "" under his breath, he quickly crouches down to collect everything that fell out when a certain item catches his attention.

it's the small keychain he had once gifted yeojun for his birthday back in high school. memories come flooding back, the day they spent at the arcade, the way he had jumped in excitement after winning it in a claw game, how proud he was to present it to yeojun as a casual gift, and how despite attempting to appear nonchalant about it, how yeojun's eyes never seemed to be able to look away as he held it in his hands.

yeojun had to like him, right? there was no way he would keep something this small for all those years if he had no feelings for taegyun. even despite his constant attempts at putting some distance between them, he had still treasured such a gift even after taegyun ran away, even after getting a boyfriend, and even after he had assumed he'd never see the other again. that had to mean something. right?

iv. the argument and confession. the two found themselves alone in one of the study rooms, everyone else having given up on schoolwork to spend their friday night partying or sleeping. as they continue their work, taegyun can't help but bring up some of their past memories, unable to keep his feelings a secret anymore and their relationship stagnant.

"you always at arcade games, pfft - wait, didn't i win you something back then? it was some ty little keychain, right? do you still have it?"

yeojun pauses and taegyun can tell he's trying (and failing miserably) to act as if he can't recall.

"...why would i. that was years ago .."

with a knowing look on his face, tae pulls out the keychain from his own backpack. he had kept it with him for this very moment. yeojun, having caught sight of it, looks over in horror and tries to snatch it back as taegyun keeps it out of his reach, almost taunting him with it.

"why do you have that? give it to me -"

"i thought you didn't keep it."

"were you snooping through my bag? give it back!"

"tell me why you still have it then."

"just give it!"

"you liked me, didn't you? do you still like me now? it doesn't make sense - why would you keep something like this after all these years if you really hated me?"

"give it back -"

"no."

"give it to me."

"answer me first."

"kwon taegyun!" yeojun finally snapped, breath shaky as he glared up at the other, exhaustion and desperation shining in his eyes. "just stop bothering me."

with that, he grabbed his backpack and turned to leave before taegyun finally spoke up, his own voice laced with both determination and hurt.

"fine - just run away again like you did in high school."

yeojun stopped in his tracks, turning around in disbelief at what he just heard. "what?"

"that's how it's always been. you say what you want to say and before you can give anyone a chance to speak, you just run away."

backpack dropping to the floor, yeojun stormed over to taegyun, the buried anger and betrayal finally spilling over. "what kind of - you're the one who ran away first."

"yeah and i tried to come back. i tried to talk to you and you kept avoiding me. you just completely vanished after high school without even hearing what i had to say. do you even know how much i looked for you?"

"what?"

"were you happy? living without me?"

yeojun is silent, baffled by what he's hearing as waves of confusion and the pain of old memories seem to drown him.

"i wasn't. i was miserable without you. i'm not gonna lose this chance again. i like you."

his heart drops. the kwon taegyun that had been the holder of all his affections for years was confessing to him and yet, yeojun couldn't seem to believe him. there was no way this was real. taegyun had already ran away once. who knew if he wouldn't do it again?

"what..?"

"i said i like you. let's date."

yeojun's heart was pounding so loudly in his chest, he thought he might die. this had to be a joke. the universe just enjoyed tormenting him, that was it. he couldn't bear the idea of being left again. how was he supposed to trust taegyun?

"do you think just because i'm gay, i'll date any man that shows up in front of me?"

"that's not what i'm saying-"

"is it really that fun to mock me?"

"i'm not joking."

"unbelievable."

there's more hurt than anger in his voice and as he tries to turn around and leave, taegyun grabs his arm to pull him back.

"why won't you believe me?"

"i'm supposed to just believe that after all these years, you suddenly like me? there's a limit to even my patience."

"yeojun-"

"if you say another word...! i swear, i'll never see you again."

v. the fear. now that taegyun had confessed his feelings and intentions, he doesn't let a day go by without reminding yeojun of them. all he wants to do is convince him that his feelings are true and real but yeojun's fear of abandonment keeps him from believing any of tae's words and actions. taegyun had been in and out of so many relationships during high school, he couldn't bear the thought of just being another quick fling.

no matter how many times yeojun shuts him down and pushes him away, taegyun continues to show up for him and look out for him. his feelings are stronger than yeojun wants to believe and at the end of the day, he just wants yeojun to know that he's being sincere.

it isn't until they have another fight that yeojun's fear truly kicks in and starts to wonder if maybe, just maybe, taegyun really does mean what he says.

"if you want me to prove it to you then i'll prove it to you. but i'm also human. i get hurt too."

"... then you can just stop doing all this."

usually taegyun would just continue to let yeojun walk all over him but the way yeojun still seems to think that he's just doing this for s and giggles hurts him more than he lets on. his feelings aren't just something he can turn on and off and for once, he doesn't mask the hurt, grabbing his stuff and leaving to cool off.

the response is unexpected, having grown so used to taegyun just teasing him and as soon as he's left the room, yeojun is brought back to the moment taegyun left him back in high school. it was happening again. he was being thrown away because he messed up.

he fears he'd gone too far this time, panicking at the thought of taegyun actually putting a stop to all of this and he finds himself on the brink of tears. heart racing and hands trembling, the sound of his phone yanks him out of his panicked state. it was taegyun.

"... what?"

"i'm going for a walk and then heading to the convenience store .. what i'm saying is, i'll come back in a while so don't worry."

"... i wasn't worried."

taegyun lets out a tired sigh and yeojun hesitates, hands gripping at his phone.

"fine. whatever. i'll see you soon."

"taegyun-"

"what."

yeojun in a soft breath, voice soft as he's still coming out of the traumas that plagued him.

"... hurry back."

with that, he immediately hangs up, embarrassment rising on his face at the first moment of vulnerability he had managed to show the other.

vi. the fever. ever since the slight panic attack, yeojun has slowly been opening his heart towards taegyun, wondering if he can start to be hopeful that this could truly be something he's allowed to have in his life.

even when yeojun falls sick with a fever from overworking himself, taegyun doesn't hesitate to stay by his side and take care of him.

yeojun's roommate went home to visit his family and gave taegyun the okay to stay in their dorm room to look after yeojun. even if all he does is sleep, taegyun just continues to stay by his side, checking his temperature, putting cold towels on his heated forehead, preparing meals in case he wakes up, etc.

"did all your boyfriends know that the feeling you hate the most .. is waking up alone when you're sick? the person who knows you best is me so .. just hurry up and tell me that you like me too."

yeojun wakes up the next morning and realizes he's been changed into his pajamas, the damp towel falling onto his lap. looking around the room, he sees taegyun slumped over and asleep against his roommate's bed. had he really stayed with him the entire time?

making his way over, he sits beside him, head resting against the bed as he gazes softly at his long time crush, a quiet hopefulness starting to grow in him.

"kwon taegyun ... do you really like me?

vii. the disappearance. things seem to be looking up for taegyun. even he can tell that yeojun has become a bit softer around him now, the once tense air now being a lot more playful. it feels as though they'll be able to progress a lot further in their relationship — until he can't seem to get a hold of yeojun.

saerom's mother had another health scare and yeojun decides to accompany her to the hospital for a while, staying by her side to give her emotional and moral support as she takes care of her mom.

taegyun, on the other hand, wasn't aware of this and as no one else seems to know where yeojun has gone (the two friends having left without much notice due to the state of emergency), he's left feeling the same fear he had experienced on their graduation day.

yeojun had disappeared without a trace yet again and taegyun wasn't sure he could handle it a second time.

panic flooding his mind, he checked the dorms, the university, their usual lunch spots, practically searching all over jeju in a state of frenzy. no matter how many times he called out for yeojun, there was no response and the fear was eating him alive.

it's late into the night when he finally sees yeojun stepping out of a bus, saerom having told him to head back now that her mother was doing better. all the emotions of fear and relief surge through him and before he knows it, he's already running over to throw himself onto the other in a tight hug, shaking as he cries like a child that finally found their mom after getting lost at the mall.

the sudden situation startled yeojun, confused by what's happening as all he can do is hug taegyun back, trying to soothe him as best he can. he had never once seen his friend cry in front of him and with every passing second, his concern only grew.

"i thought you disappeared again ... just like in high school. i thought i would never see you again ..."

and it's in that moment that yeojun finally realizes oh. he really does genuinely and seriously like me.

viii. the phone call. yeojun is looking through taegyun's instagram, smiling as he sees all the photos but ends up accidentally liking an old photo, leaving him absolutely horrified.

it doesn't even take five seconds for tae to text him a "what're ya up to?" and for a moment, yeojun genuinely contemplates just leaving the planet, ignoring the message out of pure mortification.

another couple of seconds pass and taegyun calls him, leading yeojun to act as if he had just woken up from a nap.

"whatcha doing?"

"hm? oh, i was sleeping ..."

"pfft - so a sleeping person can like someone's insta photo, huh?"

"..... i probably did that by accident. people can move around in their sleep, y'know."

"ah, i see. so you opened instagram, typed my name in, scrolled all the way down, clicked an image and pressed like aaaalll while sleeping? i see i see~"

".... what do you want."

"heh. let's go on a date."

"... are you still going on about this?"

"why not? i think we've come a long way. would a date really be so unacceptable?"

"i don't want to." tsun habits die hard.

"yeah yeah fine. let's just grab something to eat then. i'll buy you a meal and we'll just call it a hang out between classmates. ya happy?"

"a meal from where?"

"stella pick tteokbokki."

"... that's in seoul."

"yeah. we haven't been there since high school."

"...."

"you know, you can't avoid seoul forever."

"... i know."

"i'll be right by your side, you know? if we bump into anyone you know, i'll help you make a run for it."

yeojun lets out a soft laugh. "we're not kids anymore."

"who says we have to outgrow our youth? so, you in? i already bought plane tickets anyways so you have to say yes."

"the hell. fine but. it's not a date..."

"yeah yeah just dig the knife in a little deeper. alright, i'll pick you up at your dorm then and we can go to the airport together."

they hang up and yeojun immediately rolls out of bed to pick out an outfit.

ix. the date. (bgm that i feel like would be played in this scene ksdjf)

it turns out that the real reason taegyun took yeojun to seoul was to surprise him by taking him to his first pride parade. he had noticed the dates specially marked on yeo's calendar and thought that it would be something memorable for him to experience.

at first, yeojun is simply taken aback and a bit scared to be seen by others who weren't attending the festival and passing by with judgemental stares but as he immerses himself and lets himself be surrounded by other people who were celebrating their existence and proud to be who they were, he felt more at home than he had ever been before.

his hesitation was quickly replaced with excitement, soaking in every bit of the life he had been wanting to live. everywhere he looked, people were waving their flags, kissing their partners, just happy to be unashamedly themselves. he felt so free.

people were laughing and dancing, fireworks were going off, music was blasting, and there were rainbows everywhere. banners, balloons, and a giant parachute for people to hold and dance under.

he couldn't seem to mask his happiness and taegyun was more enamored than ever before, heart soaring as he saw the bright expressions on yeo's face. he truly looked the most beautiful when he was just free to be himself.

"are you happy?"

"yeah - i - thank you -"

"anytime. as long as i get to see you smile."

taegyun turns back to enjoy the music and yeojun is left gazing up at him, heart suddenly swelling as he comes to the realization of how deep his feelings for taegyun are and how much tae had changed for him, working hard to prove the authenticity of his heart, and yeojun finally just reaches out to cup tae's cheeks and kiss him right there, the rest of the world seeming to slow down around them.

x. the acceptance. they finally make it back to jeju after the festivities and yeojun find himself being extremely awkward, embarrassed by his own actions while taegyun just adorns the most irritatingly smug smile on his face.

"so, are we dating now ~"

"shut up i don't know - think however you want!"

tae just laughs at yeojun's flustered behavior and reaches over to hold his hand.

"so can i do this?"

yeojun finally looks at him, a bit in disbelief.

"we kissed like that earlier and you're asking if it's okay to hold my hand?"

"of course. you haven't given me a proper verbal answer so i can't be too sure."

yeojun looks at him and then looks away, mumbling under his breath. "let's do it then ..."

"what?"

he looks anywhere but at taegyun. "if you're really serious about me ... then .. let's date."

and taegyun's heart explodes from the amount of happiness and he dies.

* in summary : yeojun still has feelings for taegyun but carries too much fear from the reactions he received to coming out and from the fact that taegyun ran away. there's a small part of him that wonders if he should just give in and receive the other's advances and affections before they go away but the bigger part of him doesn't think he'll be able to handle the pain if taegyun gets tired of him and just throws him away again. he's very cautious because of his past and he's always been struggling to even fully accept his own self and be proud of who he is that having his feelings be truly reciprocated seems like a mere fantasy.

taegyun, as much as he likes to tease and mess around, carries a very deeply rooted fear of losing yeojun. ever since yeojun disappeared after high school, taegyun has been filled with so much anxiety no matter how well he seems to mask it. he may act like a playboy flirt but he genuinely does get hurt whenever yeojun pushes him away or assumes that his intentions and his heart isn't sincere. yeojun may show his hurt a bit more openly, not having much control over his emotions when it comes to taegyun but tae expresses his hurt in his tone and his eyes. it's much more subtle but it's there.

they're both just two idiot boys who were traumatized from losing the other and act a bit rashly on their emotions rather than having calm and collected conversations on why they're behaving the way they are now.

INTERACTIONS
IN PRIVATE : when they discuss anything school related or project related, they'll speak to each other formally, maintaining the sunbae - hoobae dynamic even when they're alone. yeojun refuses to treat tae as a friend again out of fear but there are times when he'll slip up and speak informally, mostly fueled by emotions whenever he feels overwhelmed. they argue a lot more in private, free to address their past relationship and the mess of emotions that comes with it. he's a lot harsher to taegyun when they fight but also a lot softer and flustered when they're actually getting along.

IN PUBLIC : everyone always calls taegyun out for "picking on" yeojun, always calling him such a hierarchy obsessed boomer for trying to use his "sunbae" status over yeo. in their eyes, yeojun is a pitiful freshman who has unfortunately garnered the attention of a sly fox. taegyun is always appearing out of nowhere, teasing and taunting while yeojun does his best to keep a wall between them, addressing him formally and calling him "sunbaenim" despite them being the same age. even if they bicker here and there, it's become an unstated fact that the two would always be a pair, constantly seen with the other.

WHEN DATING : (i think their story could end once they become official but this is here just in case you wanted to include some interactions post dating) taegyun is a lot more shameless with his flirting and attempts at skinship and though yeojun acts like he doesn't like it, it's nearly impossible for him to mask his own happiness. no one knows they're dating except for a trusted few, like saerom, so yeojun is desperate to keep it hidden from others. he finds himself constantly scolding tae to refrain from being so clingy or they're gonna get caught but it's always done with a shy smile on his face. he does act a bit more tsundere despite both their feelings being known and comfirmed, slightly embarrassed since he never really thought this day would come. he shuts down some of tae's flirting whenever they're in public, putting his studies and work first but when it's just the two of them alone in tae's apartment, he'll allow himself to indulge in tae's needs a bit more.

ENDING (finally) dating

— yeojun thought taegyun ran away when he came out because he was put off by the fact that he was gay but in reality, tae was just so overwhelmed by the fact that yeojun now had a special relationship with someone other than him and he couldn't seem to figure out why it upset him so much until he realizes he wanted to be the one that gets to stay by yeojun's side.

OUT OF CHARACTER

COMMENTS help i rushed and bUTCHERED EVERYTHING ESP THE PERSONALITY AND LOVE STORY !! i just wrote out the important moments between them instead of filling in all the in betweens so you can have some freedom with it!

SCENE REQUESTS
— after they finally start dating, taegyun is walking yeojun back to the dorms and they're waiting in front of the elevator and tae is being disgustingly cute and touchy and yeo keeps smacking him and trying to push him away, acting like he's worried about getting caught but actually loving every second of it. then the elevator dings and opens, making yeojun panic and just instinctively sock tae right in the chest to push him away in time. ( insp - x )

— (another post dating request) yeojun is trying to study in the library and taegyun is sitting with him, just staring with absolute heart eyes while yeo tries to focus on his work. tae keeps bothering yeo to close his eyes so with an exasperated sigh, he finally complies. and tae, with the stupidest grin on his face says "what do you see?" and yeo is like "nothing" and tae is like "that's my life without you : D" and yeo is like "....... close your eyes." and tae is all excited because he thinks yeo is gonna say the same and so he quickly closes his eyes and is like "omg it's so dark." and yeo is like "yeah, that's your future. shut up and study." and tae just sulks for the rest of the hour.

— the architecture engineering students and architecture students have a friendly rivalry and occasionally have lego wars during their free time. the person who finishes building the lego set the fastest gets a free wish and the losing major has to bring snacks for the next project session. despite being on the opposing side, yeojun can't help but naturally end up rooting for taegyun, even unconsciously offering his help as if they're back in high school and just having fun.

— while going out to drink, saerom or one of the female applicants is being bothered by some drunk men and yeojun steps in to defend them and when they're about to get physical, taegyun immediately steps in to defend yeojun.

PASSWORD oop ok so i'll have to go with anthony just because his desire to have a floor that's like a family would be something yeojun agrees with and let's be real - yeojun would def think he's very attractive and swoonworthy skdjf
