does aff just sometimes skip over chapter or....?

hello! looking at my story stats, there are always a couple of chapters that dip in views but I have no idea why? like for example

idk if the image worked or if it's a link to the image BUT my point is that random chapters just dip? if this aff? or are some readers just like "ah lemme skip chapter 8 who needs it." personally I haven't skipped over a chapter so I'm not really sure

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this

Yeah, some readers skip chapters, but also depending on the story, some readers just read certain chapters more than others!

I multiple one-shot collections, and I notice that certain groups are definitely more popular than others (ex: Twice is more popular than GFriend), and people will read the chapters with the popular group more.

Also, if you don’t update a story for a long time, some readers go back to the story to reread it. Once you start updating again, those earlier chapters will have more views because they’ve been posted for longer.

Yes, some readers actually skip chapters!
I have for one of my fics, the Mature rated chapters have views doubled than the normal chapters.
And other fic, the last chapter is like 1k views and the previous 3-5 chapters are like barely 500 views.
Other than skipping, some readers do actually re-read some of the chapters so the views there are always higher than the rest of the chapters. They do that when they want to re-read their favorite parts without the need to re-read the whole fic.
