aka cloud is committing to the love interest section because why not, let's see if I can still do it. let's go with the action adventureeeee

okay I haven't fleshed out a character in a WHILE -- so hopefully this goes well

i've been watching too many action movies, so, don't mind me imagining Veena as someone who would totally bust in with a roundhouse kick with a lightsaber and cheekily telling everyone "y'all, I told you so" before kicking

aka firecracker who bulldozes everyone else
concept: started her journey when 17-18, was the galar fire-type gym leader at 18 19 cause (while didn't win) impressed at the league as runner-up and was pressured by family (was she really ever going to get a better gig?), but grew bored in that 1-2 years because she wants to accomplish so much more... (coughs in championships and taking over the world cough) thus, put together her old team (before becoming a gym leader) and high tails it to hoenn for a new adventure with just a note left on her desk. (she decided it was worth it). it causes a bit of chaos ngl

and most importantly, is capable of making soup

but also what if I throw her at Aiden + crew -- like first meeting guns blazing leaping over while battling a hostile pokemon with her Metagross and then turning back to the others who are all on the ground wide eyed and she's there with a crooked grin and decked in leather like "sup dudes" and *fireworks*

okay but listen, Veena teaming up with one of the more uhhh let's say intimidating people in the group and them confronting people who mess with the cinnamon rolls of the team.

STYLE Stylish, flashy, classy, cool. Veena dresses to make a statement. First impressions count after all, so dressing anything but her best is out of the question.

She quite enjoys experimenting with her style -- for instance, moving from leather jackets and chic sunglasses one moment, to flowy white blouses and sun-kissed jeans. In other words, she dresses to fit an aesthetic, and she's good at it. That being said, all of her clothes are suited for travel (or at least modified so that they are.)

Veena really likes having a lot of pockets on her being to carry all kinds of things that she may need (because you can never be too prepared).

★ Veena is an eager, fiercely independant, and determined soul who never backs down from a challenge (even if all of her senses scream at her not to), and yearns for something more in her life. She wants the challenge, she wants to prove that she can rise to the very top. Strong-willed, firm, yet stubborn, she puts to her all to whatever she chooses. She never backs down from a fight, especially pokemon battles, and won't let anyone dictate what she is capable of.

★ Organized, high-achieving, and methodical, she is effective at whatever she works on -- where even if she doesn't completely understand or isn't interested in something, her strength in laying down a foundation makes it easy for her to learn and remember information. As a result, Veena equally gets frustrated when things go off script. She'll deal with it, yes, but will do her best to prevent such things because too many variables may lead to unnecessary danger. In other words, she valus her and other's freedom and would not encroach upon that -- but it wouldn't hurt to have some rules and/or precautions set in stone.

★ Outspoken and honest, Veena is usually not afraid to speak her mind, even if it's an unpopular/minority opinion. She thinks on her feet and doesn't second guess herself -- so even if Veena's opposed, she'll say it anyways and defend herself. In a similar manner, Veena is often the person who doesn't cut any corners when announcing the harsh truths. Equally if she sees someone doing well, she doesn't hesitate to genuinely compliment them and let her know her thoughts. or if any possible improvements can take place. However, even she has her bouts of inner-paranoia where she wonders if her stubbornness may do more harm than good.

★ Of course, Veena isn't that much of a stick in the mud that she won't eventually exasperatedly get dragged along and come out either 1) enjoying it or 2) salty because some problems could've been avoided if everyone listened to her in the first place. In that case, Veena is also willing to admit that she was wrong. Admitting that she was wrong does not hurt her pride. Well it does a little, but that's besides the point, a little pouting is natural isn't it?

★ While she's generally calm, patient, and laidback, Veena does have those moments when her anger gets the best of her. She doesn't like to make trouble, and is willing to compromise -- if you avoid the situation then she will seek you out to get a resolution (she takes the first step usually) -- but if you do something unforgivable or makes her upset then... her fury is all for you. Veena's anger is not necessarily loud, but more so full of snark, vindiciveness, and mistrust. This manifests most in stressful situations, where Veena decides to take matters into her own hands. She is also not the kind of person to brood in silence unless it's something that truly rattles her -- she's more likely, again, to confront straight up what has made her angry. That, or smirk and do something that she knows would anger the other party right back.

★In that respect, Veena's greatest resources are her keen and perceptive eye, logical demeanor, and her ability to think quick on her feet. Her adaptability makes her a fierce opponent on the battlefield, and an adept traveler seeking adventure through even the most difficult of terrain. However, don't mistake any eagerness for adventure or jumping into battle as impulsivity. Veena always carefully calculates, if able, any possible consequences that may occur when she undertakes something -- oftentimes being one of the most prepared people on a team.

★ This means that it wouldn't be strange to see Veena carefully scanning and mapping out everything around her, and taking careful inventory of items and people too. Though this has gotten her (and others) out of trouble more than a few times, it also reveals Veena's more cautious and almost paranoid nature -- something festered by her family, and something she has yet to shake off. Sometimes she comes off as too paranoid -- however with her experience she'd gotten better at rationalizing this paranoia and only really making it a big deal (shoving it people's faces) if she truly believes something will happen. But if she's the first person to react by pinning you to the ground, then, at least you know why.

★ That said, Veena is fiercely loyal and compassionate, with a strong sense of justice. So yes, Veena is a brave person who won't hesitate to protect and take care of herself and hers. However, similar to her cautiousness, Veena is, at times, a fearful person who overthinks. So yes, if that means donning all of her strategic knowledge and appreciation for the dramas, she can conjure something up to make sure people don't hurt her people.

★Veena is often mistaken, again, as being somewhat careless or just an unpredictable "firecracker" -- and her suddenly abandoning her gym leader position to run off to Hoenn of all places supports this because it really seems to have happened out of no where. But trust me, while Veena was determined and no one could've stopped her from doing so, fear clawed at her bones during this.

★ When not stuck in the depths of responsibility and seriousness, Veena is and easy going person who actually has a good sense of humor. Especially around people who she trusts, Veena because significantly more relaxed and playful, very happy to mess and joke around -- especially with some cheeky/sarcastic one-liners. It also isn't too hard to convince Veena to be a little more mischevious, assuming that the time and place and appropriate. Though she is an introvert, Veena is still a pretty sociable person, and she's always eager to meet new people and learn about their experiences and test their mettle.

★ While sometimes overshadowed by louder and more boisterous personalities, Veena's charisma and eye-catching presence shines the most in the confidence in her abilities, her approach to taking over a situation, and her relaxedness in solving problems when you put her in the spotlight. This is especially apparent in the fact that Veena likes being stylish with, quite frankly, dramatic entrances. It does give her a lot of joy when she feels comfortable and confident enough to let loose a little and really show off her passions.

tldr: Veena is a straight-forward, logical, but still easy-going and fun-loving person where when she's in a pickle, she'd rather pull the plug and nuke something at it's source the moment she discovers it rather then let it fester. Despite her weaknesses, she is constantly looking for ways to improve herself and to care for her own, even if it means going off script.

BACKGROUND

★ From the beginning, Veena's family told her this, "Dream as you wish as a child, but when you grow up, you'll realize being that being normal and average is the best option for people like us. Keep your expectations low." Now, none of this was said maliciously, but from the experience of her own parents who sought out to be more than they "could" have been, failed, and didn't want to set their children on that path. In their eyes, it was one thing to encourage their kids, and the other to practically set htem up for a future they'd never be able to achieve because life isn't fair.

★ It was a painfully honest and realsitically-pessimistic way of looking at things, and Veena, when she was younger, didn't question it. In her mind, it made sense, especially when her parents sat herself (and her brother) down and told them about their failed exploits to become hitngs like "pokemon masters" or "influential persons who could change the world." They told their children how they had tried, tried so hard, but in the end only that top 0.001% will ever make it. Of course, there was always the inkling in the back of Veena's head that told her that they gave up too easily, or that their expectations were too high -- but again, she didn't question it.

★ So, for her whole childhood, Veena lived normally and with little expectation. She did what she was told to do, sometimes got into trouble, other times didn't, did her work on time, and so on.

Veena rolls her eyes playfully, crossing her legs and leaning backwards against a nearby tree. Aiden, the energetic dork, had accosted her moments before. There was a bright twinkle in his eyes as he sat across from her, eagerly waiting for her response.

★ Veena wants to become a Pokemon Master -- a Champion of not just one Region, but more. She wants to broaden her horizons and reach the very heights that no one else thought she'd be able to reach. She's going to prove them all wrong. And with that dream, Veena desires to travel all over the world, challenging all kinds of trainers, gather data, learn, and have adventures that she woulidn't otherwise have stuck in a gym in Galar.

HOW YOU MET ~ "Straight Out Of A Movie"
Location: The Forests of Hoenn

It took Veena 3 whole seconds to realize what had just happened, and when she did, her face paled in shock. She had been knocked over to the ground by -- as she would find out a few moments later -- a Ninjask. A Ninjask who thought it would be funny to knock her backpack, which she had been holding in her arms about to take out her lunch, out of her hands and take off with it.

Another few seconds pass as Veena pulls herself back to her feet. That's too many seconds. Without missing another beat, Veena called out Twilight, her Dragapult and fastest pokemon. Then, with a shrill cry of "CATCH THAT NINJASK!" Veena had jumped on and held securely onto Twilight as they sped off in the Ninjask's direction.

Frustration grew as Veena could only catch brief glances of her silvery backpack moving quickly through the trees. The Ninjask was moving through increasingly narrower passages, and Veena wasn't sure how much longer it would take before they couldn't follow anymore.

Then, in what could only be a of luck, they broke out of the trees and over a perilous looking cliff overlooking the ocean. The Ninjask was fluttering near the edge and staring out, holding Veena's bag securely with it's steely limbs. The Ninjask slowly turned around to face Veena and Twilight, where the two had stopped soem feet away.

This was it. One wrong move, and for all Veena knew, she'd have to start fishing out her backpack 20 feet down the ocean.

Slowly they inched forward. Would the Ninjask turn? Go back into the forest? Or fly over the water? Which would it be? A few silent seconds pass. At that moment, Veena gets her answer, and a split second later Veena and Twilight and off again.

They're meters and meters above crystaline waters, with the sun beating down on them, but Veena only has one thing on her mind. Catching that Ninjask.

Unbeknowst to Veena, they are nearing another stretch of land, lower with bridges touching the ocean top. And traveling on those roads include one Aiden Kim, and his current party at the time.

+ Veena and Aiden have been very vaguely aware of each other for years before this, frankly, dramatic first meeting. Aiden more than Veena, in that at the very least he would've been aware of some gym leader running off somewhere. They also would've been aware of each other through their respective Pokemon Professors. With Professor Kim and Professor Hasegawa being good friends and collegues, it wouldn't be too out of the box to overhear the two talking about the "kids" or briefly mentioning said kids in a conversation.
