🌸 strangers at the least, acquaintances at the most- bareum only saw hawon a couple of times before he came in an applied for a position. the younger guy came to buy some coffee a few times, but he got a lot of stares so he usually got them to go.
Their Story
🌸 bareum couldn't help but notice moon hawon when he moved in across the street. there was something so captivating about him, the way he walked with airpods in his ears seemingly uncaring of all the stares he got. she wouldn't say she had a type, but bareum for sure didn't think tattoos & piercings were her thing, but regardless she found herself staring at the younger man before snapping herself out of it.
🌸 meanwhile, hawon took note of bareum when he entered the sweet bean for the first time, craving an americano. there was something so endearing about the small girl as she ran around making beverages like it was nobodies business, a smile on her face all the while. however, he knew the reaction that he got from the patrons in the café, so he didn't go too often- however, whenever he saw bareum from the windows of the café, he couldn't help but grin.
🌸 when hawon decided to apply for the sweet bean, he realized he'd be in a sticky situation- a lot of the customers would surely dislike seeing him there. however, he decided to say " it," and in typical hawon fashion, put his brave face on and just go for it. when he didn't hear from the café he was rather confused- not really understanding that he's not the only one who noticed the patron's reactions.
🌸 meanwhile bareum saw the application and upon learning that moon hawon is the guy across the street (bareum: how do u know these things?! joohyun: im the eyes and ears of this neighborhood!!), she started to freak out- like expressed in her letter to mx. anon, she had no idea what to do- refuse someone that doesn't deserve it or lose the customers she holds dear? the guilt ate her up and ignored the application until mx. anon posted their response.
🌸 however, one night it was very late and bareum was finally almost done closing- all that was left to do was bring the garbage out to the back. with no back entrance, bareum always struggled to drag all of it from the front to the back alley but she persevered every time. she's usually not this late however, and the panic of being alone this late at night going to an alleyway made her visibly distressed.
🌸 hawon was on his way back from a walk, the brave man found comfort in late night walks and took them often. he noticed bareum struggling and didn't hesitate to go and help her. words were exchanged, cheeks were rosy, and bareum thought about it all night and subsequently all the next morning. she checked the mx. anon blog and saw the advice, but to be honest her decision was made ever since that night. nobody more qualified applied, so bareum didn't think about it for a second- she called hawon to tell him the good news.
🌸 hawon wasn't much different, his thoughts swam around with thoughts of bareum as well. particularly her red cheeks and the urge to pinch them. he found himself rubbing the back of his neck just at the thought of her- he liked being able to protect her and highkey wanted to look out for her. when his phone rang and he heard the voice on the other end, hawon couldn't help but stutter- even more so when she said you got the job.
🌸 the backlash was as expected, to varying degrees. some of the ahjummas were crueler than others, scolding bareum for hiring someone like that, telling her she's ruining her grandma's legacy. she found herself crying in the bathroom, letting her thoughts go cynical and wondering if they were right. however, hawon became sort of a light in her life. bareum geeked out when she realized hawon's full time job is a webtoon artist, telling him about all of her favorite webtoons.
🌸 they would make plans to take walks & watch movies, hawon would stay till close even if he wasn't on schedule just so he could watch over her. some people may be put off by that, but bareum really appreciated it and looked forward to the banter they would have. they would make a game out of everything, like who can mop or restock the cups faster, and hawon never shied away from teasing bareum and watching her whine about it.
🌸 as they grow closer however, hawon began to notice just how close bareum and joohyun were. it was undeniable that the two had a bond, but what kind was it? hawon wasn't sure if he had the right to ask, but he couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. at this point hawon came to term with his crush, and he can't help but grow agitated whenever joohyun interrupts them or acts obnoxious. hawon knows he has no place feeling like that, but it's just so overwhelming- he'd really love to know how she feels.

🌸 meanwhile, hawon took note of bareum when he entered the sweet bean for the first time, craving an americano. there was something so endearing about the small girl as she ran around making beverages like it was nobodies business, a smile on her face all the while. however, he knew the reaction that he got from the patrons in the café, so he didn't go too often- however, whenever he saw bareum from the windows of the café, he couldn't help but grin.
🌸 when hawon decided to apply for the sweet bean, he realized he'd be in a sticky situation- a lot of the customers would surely dislike seeing him there. however, he decided to say " it," and in typical hawon fashion, put his brave face on and just go for it. when he didn't hear from the café he was rather confused- not really understanding that he's not the only one who noticed the patron's reactions.
🌸 meanwhile bareum saw the application and upon learning that moon hawon is the guy across the street (bareum: how do u know these things?! joohyun: im the eyes and ears of this neighborhood!!), she started to freak out- like expressed in her letter to mx. anon, she had no idea what to do- refuse someone that doesn't deserve it or lose the customers she holds dear? the guilt ate her up and ignored the application until mx. anon posted their response.
🌸 however, one night it was very late and bareum was finally almost done closing- all that was left to do was bring the garbage out to the back. with no back entrance, bareum always struggled to drag all of it from the front to the back alley but she persevered every time. she's usually not this late however, and the panic of being alone this late at night going to an alleyway made her visibly distressed.
🌸 hawon was on his way back from a walk, the brave man found comfort in late night walks and took them often. he noticed bareum struggling and didn't hesitate to go and help her. words were exchanged, cheeks were rosy, and bareum thought about it all night and subsequently all the next morning. she checked the mx. anon blog and saw the advice, but to be honest her decision was made ever since that night. nobody more qualified applied, so bareum didn't think about it for a second- she called hawon to tell him the good news.
🌸 hawon wasn't much different, his thoughts swam around with thoughts of bareum as well. particularly her red cheeks and the urge to pinch them. he found himself rubbing the back of his neck just at the thought of her- he liked being able to protect her and highkey wanted to look out for her. when his phone rang and he heard the voice on the other end, hawon couldn't help but stutter- even more so when she said you got the job.
🌸 the backlash was as expected, to varying degrees. some of the ahjummas were crueler than others, scolding bareum for hiring someone like that, telling her she's ruining her grandma's legacy. she found herself crying in the bathroom, letting her thoughts go cynical and wondering if they were right. however, hawon became sort of a light in her life. bareum geeked out when she realized hawon's full time job is a webtoon artist, telling him about all of her favorite webtoons.
🌸 they would make plans to take walks & watch movies, hawon would stay till close even if he wasn't on schedule just so he could watch over her. some people may be put off by that, but bareum really appreciated it and looked forward to the banter they would have. they would make a game out of everything, like who can mop or restock the cups faster, and hawon never shied away from teasing bareum and watching her whine about it.
🌸 as they grow closer however, hawon began to notice just how close bareum and joohyun were. it was undeniable that the two had a bond, but what kind was it? hawon wasn't sure if he had the right to ask, but he couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. at this point hawon came to term with his crush, and he can't help but grow agitated whenever joohyun interrupts them or acts obnoxious. hawon knows he has no place feeling like that, but it's just so overwhelming- he'd really love to know how she feels.
🌸 cut to bareum with head empty, no thoughts. in actuality, bareum's spidey senses fail her- she feels something off with hawon, but she doesn't realize it's because he's jealous. she just thinks he's annoyed with joohyun, which she finds understandable (he's a bit much). she doesn't even realize her own growing feelings, even when a girl comes in and obviously flirts with hawon- bareum knows she doesn't like it, but doesn't realize why. can these two finally get together, or does joohyun have to push their heads together and say "now kiss!"

hello!! there's a difficult situation i found myself in recently and i'd love to hear some advice, because i'm not sure what to do.
i work at a café that i own, it's a very old café so many patrons in the morning are older grandmas and grandpas. across the street from us is an apartment building where this guy lives- he moved in a few months ago & has a bunch of tattoos and piercings and rides around in a loud motorcycle that always shakes up the café when he leaves.
the older patrons can't stand him and gossip about him constantly when they see him, calling him a delinquent because of the way he looks and the vehicle he drives. i don't know him personally... he's very quiet from what i've seen though, and his face is nice to look at- not that that matters!!
uh, moving on- so all of that was leading to my situation- he just applied to work at my café part-time- in the mornings. i know the older patrons are gonna lose their minds if he does. i don't agree with them when it comes to judging people by their appearance, but they've been loyal customers for years... even since my grandma opened the café... i don't wanna lose them as patrons but it's also not right of me to deny someone a job just because of how they appear.
i'm so torn right now, i know it seems like an easy solution- just screw it and hire him, right? i want to, but the older patrons... especially the ahjummas... they remind me of my own grandma. i miss her so much. along with the café, they are the only connections i have left with her...
