ELABORATIONS
aidan is your typical unmotivated mamas boy that we all know and love. you know he actually wouldn't say he's unmotivated because he has many interests. he takes on many short term projects just because he likes to try things once and probably never do them again. but that doesn't create stability and is probably one of the wrost traits to have in order to be successful.
he's actually a really smart person with many talents, he just doesn't apply himself because its too much work. his laziness is seriously the worst. he won't put any extra effort in things. for example, if he has to learn a dance then he'll learn it and thats all. he won't put that extra work to perfect it so he looks amazing with every move. for someone thats so naturally talented in many things you'd think he'd apply himself more but his mom honestly prevents that. he grew up not having much expectations on him and his mom coddling him so as he grew up he just didn't care about things.
his upbringing caused him to be a little selfish, not unreasonably (in his eyes at least) but he expects people to treat him like his mom. if something is out of reach he'll ask someone else to get it since he's too lazy to get up. instead of actually getting up himself he rather suffer not having it. if he wants to do something he'll do it, if he doesn't want to do something he won't do it. but he's not that stubborn, since he's in k-os he knows he has to practice since its mandatory. he'll show up obviously since he has to but might say no to extra practices.
you'd never met someone so smart yet so dumb until you've met aidan. he can understand complicated things, come up with strategic plans and is a pro at chess but he at picking up on other peoples feelings when its not straight forward. people often hide what they really feel but even then its kind of obvious, but not to aidan. if you're not crying or pouting when you're sad than he won't be able to tell. he's known for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and not reading the room.
when it comes to his own emotions he's really passive, he doesn't get worked up over small things. he isn't good at empathizing either, probably not the best person to talk to when you're sad. he's not a total robot but lets just say he's not helpful. he always answers things honestly that it might hurt the other persons feelings, he just doesn't see the point in lying. he's really an unbothered person and doesn't care about the little things. he's most liekly to stay calm in many situations. maybe too chill. when someone confronts him he'll just say something like "dude you needa chill" instead of matching their energy or taking the situation seriously. he really just doesn't think most things are a big deal. life is too short to take it too seriously.
the way he thinks is really interesting. he often thinks outside the box like the weirdo he is. he has instant comebacks that are hilarious and has the ability to be effortlessly funny whether its his weird dancing or funny comments. his yo mama jokes are on point. since he has no shame he doesn't care about getting embarrassed. contrary to popular belief he's actually pretty competitive. he'll put extra effort to win but if theres no prize he's really interested in he doesn't mind giving up if it gets too tiring.
BACKGROUND
moo dohyun was born in seoul south korea to a korean dad and a hongkonger mom. he has an older sister that is two years older than him but as the baby of the family he got spoiled by his mom who always wanted a son. his dad wasn't around much as a kid, he has a company in korea and is a huge workaholic so it was mostly his mom taking care of them. at 4 his parents divorced and they moved to hong kong. dohyun became known as hou aidan instead, hou is his mom's last name and aidan was his chinese name. his dad came by a few times a year and during breaks him and his sister would go to seoul to "spend time" with him. there are very few times that he saw his parents together, since it happened so young he doesn't think it effected him.
he went to an international school in hongkong, his family was considered wealthy with his dad being apart of the board at samsung too. aidan had good grades despite never studying a day in his life and falling asleep during class. if you ask him how he did it, he'd say tests are just a bunch of common sense and making good guesses should be enough to help you pass. but the truth is that he's just smart. aidan had a lot of hobbies growing up because his mom wanted them to stay active, specifically for aidan he didn't have an interest in anything. he just did what his mom said but didn't have passion. when his lesson was over he didn't practice more, he just played games or watched tv instead. besides, his sister was already a high achiever so he never felt like he had to be.
usually as you get older you start to find an interest that you want to turn into a career. but that never happened for aidan. this caused his relationship with his father to get worse and worse because he expected aidan to take over the company some day but he was never interested. he blamed his mom for spoiling him too much which is why he's so lazy. aidan eventually started to hate going to see his dad but he had no choice and had to it up.
for college he went to the university of hong kong, the best college in the country and got in because of his grades but mostly his dads money. he tried to take full credits like any other fulltime student since he didn't have a job but he couldn't keep up with showing up to class or doing the work so he failed 2 classes. since then he's only been take 2 classes a semester, only dragging out the process and making his dad spend more money but at least his gpa remained high. his dad thought the whole thing was ridiculous but his mom begged him to lighten up on aidan who was picking his belly button on the couch as that conversation was happening. all he did on his spare time with game and drink and party and sleep.
one day he followed his friend to audition for pledis, usually he wouldn't bother but he was going through a hard breakup and thought it was the least he could do. while waiting for his friend he fell asleep on a chair while listening to music and his hand slipped so his ice coffee fell on him. he went to the bathroom to clean his pants and someone washing their hands asked if he was audition too and he said no. so they told him to follow them and he did since he thought he was in trouble, but no, there he was standing in front of a bunch of staff looking like he just peed himself and they asked him to sing. he said he wasn't a singer but they kept insisting so he sang the first song that came in his head, the one he was previously listening to, gone by rose. when they asked him if he could rap he bursted out the first rap that came to his mind, super bass by nicki minaj. and when they told him to dance, well, he tried his best. but somehow, he ended up getting casted.
at first he didn't want to because he never once thought of being a singer but his mom told him he should try it out and maybe he'll like it. he still said no to that, but she did the please for me thing that moms always do and he was on the next flight to seoul.
LIKES
✩ blackpink, his favorite girl group. he has a lightstick and knows all their songs. his favorite is jennie. he has a poster of her in his room. he knows the dances too, not from practicing but watching their live performances so much

HOBBIES

✩ he can actually play the guitar and the piano really well. like full on composer out here but doesn't actively practice it. its more like a hidden talent. he can shred an electric guitar too.
✩ he secretly likes playing sims4 and adds actually people in his life and makes them date etc. he made himself as a character and he's dating jennie from blackpink. since he started training he also made all s and recreated their dorm too. he giggles evilly whenever someone whoohoo.
✩ fishing, its a calming past time but he usually falls asleep before he can catch anything
✩ speedcubing, basically solving rubix cubes hecka fast. he finds new records and sits at his desk for hours sometimes trying to break them

HABITS

aimei is really smart. she wants to run her dads business and has been kissing up to him since she was little to prove her worth. but her dad doesn't believe that a woman can be a boss and refuses to pass it onto her even though she's an mba student and more qualified than aidan. aidan supports his sister a lot, he wants her to take over their dads company because who else would? definitely not him. they're super duper close and she can instantly tell when something is wrong with him. he goes to her if he has any serious problem. they don't text everyday but often. their relationship is actually really wholesome and they barely right.
GAMING BUDDIES
✩ hendery, winwin, xiaojun & ningning (+wayv) / 22, 24, 22, 19 / aidan found his gaming buddies through hendery. they became friends because they both speak cantonese and theres not many of them. he introduced aidan to the rest of wayv who he's comfortable with too. they formed a gaming team after discovering their mutual love for league of legends. they got along really easily so playing with them is like a weekly if not daily thing. they talk while playing but mostly talk about their days instead of the game. aidan would tell them about his struggles with shuhua and the boys would come up with dumb advice while ningning actually says useful stuff. but if its a serious thing he'd rather ask his sister. out of all of them he's closest to hendery and ningning, they hang out the most when they're free sometimes with xiaojun or yangyang too. winwin is more quiet so they don't talk much outside of gaming and texting. lucas is in china most of the time so he's similar to winwin but a lot more talkative in the groupchat.
K-OS MEMBERS
✩ haedam / 21 / aidan and haedam have an interesting relationship. well the good part is that aidan isn't easily effected by his side comments. he just brushes it off or says your mom. but the bad part is that it might be annoying haedam more than anything. they have their ups and downs, the lowest of the lows being aidan's laziness at dance practice or in general. but aidan's tolerance allows them to have some kind of relationship. aidan finds his dark humor hilarous and adds onto it at times, they both go on smoke breaks together too. in all honesty aidan doesn't mind haedam, he wouldn't call him a close friend but say "yeah i like him, he's chill".
✩ lee jaero / 19 / aidan likes jaero. they game together sometimes, he gets him things that are "too far", its all dandy. ngl when they first met he was weirded out by this cute looking kid that could rap with such a deep voice. deeper than aidans and he considers his voice kind of deep and raspy. if jaero ever gets too hard on himself, aidan makes sure to step in and give him some not so helpful words of wisdom that basically means who cares, move on, life goes on. does jaero do more for aidan than he does for him? yeah, but aidan is too spoiled to see that atm.

LAST COMMENT not me creating a whole lazy for a bg fic. but i feel like this is kinda realistic since not everyone has that much drive (cough me). anyways i kinda see character development being that he argues with his dad and tells him not to pay anything for him. maybe he got mad because his dad paid his way through when he thought he deserved it and feels bad for the other trainee that got eliminated because of him. so instead he tries to prove that he can make it without his dad's money. maybe he was at the bottom ranks of popularity and started working hard to make a name for himself without his dads help, like actually taking stuff seriously, composing and singing, etc. or he realizes that he actually really loves being an idol so he puts effort which surprises his dad and makes him change his opinion about him. smth like that. or don't use that at all lol up to you.
