My entries to Rumination Graphic Contest
Hi everyone! It has been a while since I wrote a blog, and it has been longer since I made some graphics/posters for fun—so I decided to enter a graphic contest!
Check out the Rumination Graphic Contest for other cool entries, and perhaps you’ll be motivated to enter with some of the prompts :-))
I’ve made two entries because I really wanted to exercise my skills by experimenting with new styles + I had so many unused ideas for fics that have just been sitting in my drafts.
Here are my entries and a short description of my thought process behind them!
Entry #1: “HALO”
Prompt: #11 – “Fear is the devil’s breath.”
Although the original prompt used he/him pronouns for the “devil” in question, I thought it would be more fun to portray the devil as a woman (because why not!). I also wanted to create what “fear” could be in the visuals: ambiguous, unsettling, and deadly.
The title is “HALO” and Jennie has a halo, but it’s blood red—the color of hell/demons. My idea behind this was that demons/the devil has a halo like angels do, but they’re “corrupted” hence the red color.
Entry #2: “ICE QUEENS”
Prompt: #2 – “I tried to be the sun, but I’m just a cold moon.”
I interpreted the quote as a person relinquishing their grasp of morals and embracing themselves as someone who is perhaps a little morally gray.
For the poster, I made it with the idea of two queens (Taeyeon and Tiffany) shedding their pristine and proper images in favor of winning a war to conquer a queendom. There’s not really much to this poster except that I really enjoyed making a crown for Taeyeon + making an “icy” texture to embody the chilling nature of war.
So those are my two entries :-))
I’m really happy with how they turned out, and I’d love to hear any thoughts you may have.
