PERSONALITY 

- in a lot of ways, nicki is a lot different from her mother. while her mother is one to live in solitude, nicki is a passionate girl who thrives off of social interaction. her passion lies strongly in magic, and while she isn't the head of her cabin, her siblings tend to go to her for guidance. nicki, in all of her selfish ways, is genuinely in love with magic and voodoo, and is always ready to share information about it with others.

- she's also quite brave and confident. she walks into situations with her head held high, and she doesn't worry about any issues that she may face. she confronts her fears without hesitation, and she's usually one of the firsts to investigate any weird happenings around the camp. nicki is confident in all of her traits: her looks, her magic, and her entire identity. you can't try to break down her ego, it's already so inflated.

- despite her bravery and confidence, nicki will still make sure to plan before doing anything. she's strategic, after all. with her rich knowledge in magic and mythology, she'll consider all she knows before diving into situations. still, once she's set up a plan, she expects you to follow it with no hesitation. nicki's impatient like that. she doesn't like to wait for people, and hates when people's own insecurities get in their way of doing what she's want. unlike her mother, who prefers for people to make their own decisions, nicki's bossy. she expects everyone to follow her orders, especially her siblings at camp. in her dream world, everyone is stuck in a hive mind that does whatever she says. she doesn't care about what other people want. her own needs come before others, making her quite selfish. it takes a lot to get her to do things for others, the only people she might sacrifice things for are her father's family and her siblings at camp. 

- the thing about her "i do what i want" mentality is that it gets her in trouble a lot. she's a rule breaker, abiding by her own laws. that's the main thing that has kept her from becoming the head of the hecate cabin. camp half blood has too many rules for her to devote to. as an older camper, she has a bit of authority over the younger ones, despite not being a counselor. she's the easiest older kid to go to if you plan on breaking rules at camp. she cares way too little about camp rules to snitch on you.

- nicki is an assertive person, and has a forceful personality that some introverted campers may find overwhelming. she's a social butterfly, and is the last you'd find being nervous in front of someone. the way she speaks comes natural. she can talk to a new camper and a literal god all the same; not one stutter in sight. her body language is dominant. she stares people in the eyes when she speaks to them, grasps hands tight when she shakes them. nicki is a force of nature, and she wants everyone to know it.

- deep down, like deep deep deep down, nicki is a loyal person. she selfishness and pride hates to admit it, but when she grows attached to somebody, she'll chase them until the ends of the earth. she's especially attached to the other children of hecate. so many of them died, were captured, or went missing during the second titan war. her possessiveness over her siblings is where she resembles her mother the most. she knows that there are only a few of them left after the terrors years ago, and while she was too young to experience it herself, she wants to keep her siblings alive and together.

 

BACKGROUND  new orleans is considered to be one of the voodoo hotspots in america. many haitians fled to new orleans in the late 1700s after a slave revolt, and brought voodoo with them. it became an important factor in the freed slave culture in the city. to this day, magic is lively in nola, and hecate knew that. she would visit the city a lot, especially during the voodoo festivals that took place annually. one year, she met pierre towers, the son of one of the voodoo queens in new orleans. the two connected immediately over their shared passion for magic and voodoo. the two had an affair, but hecate disappeared after the voodoo festival over. for over a year, pierre didn't see hecate again. hecate didn't tell him about her identity, so he believed it to just be a short-lived fling.

 that was until the following year, when the annual festival started up again. hecate returned to new orleans, but this time she was not alone. with her she brought three month old nicki. hecate finally revealed to pierre and his family about her identity. that she was the goddess of witchcraft and night, making their child a demigod. she warned the family that nicki's life would not be easy. new orleans is rich with people, culture, and magic. there are monsters hidden around the city that would be attracted to nicki's scent. she told them about camp halfblood, one of the few places that nicki would be safe. and left a sword, fotia, in their posession for defense.

  growing up, nicki was surrounded by magic— and not just the voodoo her family practiced. she was a powerful mixture, a blend of her mother's godly powers and the magical roots that her slave ancestors placed in her. as a baby, she was showing signs of magic. it was dangerous, her child mind didn't know what she was doing and she'd send things flying across rooms, summon animals and items at random across their house. that only made her a bigger target. when she was only two, a manticore attacked her family home. her strong magic drew it to her. today, nicki has no recollection of the event. but she has heard about the horrors it caused. it tore down walls, broke items that dated back centuries. it also killed her uncle, who her father had to watch be torn apart by the manticore's grasp. he used the sowrd given to him by hecate to kill it, but by then their home was already reduced to nothing.

 they moved to a new place near the french quarters. they began to take the threats brought to them by nicki's status more seriously. her grandmother lined the house with protection jars and spells, the entire family would join together to perform protection rituals. all so that they could draw monsters away from nicki. when her father finally saw her to be old enough, at age 8, nicki spent her first summer at camp halfblood. she knew about her mother and the monsters that could strike at any moment, but until then, nicki never was exposed to greek culture. in fact, she wasn't even sure what was going on. they had to take a plane to long isladn to get there, and from what nicki thought, it was just going to be a some summer camp her dad was making her go to. 

since then, nicki would go to camp halfblood every chance she got, which was mostly in the summer, but she would visit the camp during spring and winter break, as well. even though her family's magic is strong, she knows that the safest place for her, and her family, would be camp half blood. she quickly adapted to the culture of the camp; the energy, the battles, the games, and the magic. while she already knows a lot about voodoo from her family, she was able to dig deeper into her powers as hecate's daughter. 

 

- she usually practices magic at night. that is when she is the most powerful, like her mother.

- she is pretty popular around the camp, known for being one of camp halfblood's it-girls. 

- this is potentially her last summer at camp halfblood, until she goes off to college, where she wants to study fashion design. but, she doesn't know if she's ready to leave camp halfblood for good yet.

- she's not a physical fighter. sure, she knows the basic as the demigods at the camp are taught, but he leaves all of that for the kids of war gods, like athena and ares. if something does go down, she's more likely to use her magic.

- she has been offered to be the head of the hecate cabin a bit of times, but she keeps turning it down because of the amount of rules that come with it, as well as the fact that she might not be able to let camp halfblood go if she does become one.

- despite being one of the kids who doesn't stay at the camp, she decorated her own space in the cabin as if it was her bedroom.

- she yearns to meet, and have a conversation, with her mother.

- she barely gets any sleep. she spends the whole night with her magic, and wakes up early because of her sensitivity to sunlight and sound. she basically runs on about four hours of sleep everyday.

- though she isn't the physical type, she does go on quests time to time. the campers know that if they really want her to tag along with them, they'd just have to her ego to get her to come; by calling her the most powerful witch at camp, by insisting they need her, etc. etc. despite her stubborness, it's quite easy to get her to agree with you if you use her confidence against her.

- she may attend camp during the summer, but she still likes to sneak out to do whatever in long island (attend a party, get some food, etc.). just for safety measures, she'll even convince other campers to tag along with her.

- as per her mother, she loves dogs.

- in general, she functions better at night. she's more likely to take part of a physical activity at night. her mind is more clear and focused at night. not only do her magical abilities enhance at night, so does her physical strength and speed.

CHILD OF... hecate, summer camper

GENERAL IMPRESSION nicki admires her mom. specifically the power that her mother holds, the knowledge of magic that her mother has. despite being active at camp halfblood for ten years now, she's never actually gotten to talk to her mother. at least, not more than a few words. she wishes her mother could teach her everything about witchcraft. nicki knows that she's a powerful demigod, but with the help of her mother, she could be stronger. other than her mother, nicki has no ill feelings toward the other gods. she understands that they're not human, and finds it more funny than anything that they have so many mortal children that they've never taken care of. 

 

SKILLS as the daughter of hecate, nicki has the power to cast magic. since she has the knowledge, and roots, of voodoo, she practices voodoo magic the most. however, she can cast all kinds of magic. she and the other children of hecate share spells, rituals, potions, etc, with each other, and that's where most of her knowledge of non-voodoo magic comes from. she has 10 years of experience learning more practices of magic. like the children of combat gods practice their fighting skills during their time at camp, she spent her time training her powers. she is passionate about becoming one of hecate's most powerful children, and she's always eager to learn more about magic. 

nicki, like most children of hecate, can control the mist. her power of mist manipulation allows her to create mistforms, illusions, and manipulate mortals' minds and memories. if one of the demigods gets into a little bit of trouble with a mortal, she's one of kids who gets called on to fix the issue. that being said,she struggles with it a bit due to her self-centered mindset. those who want to control the mist has to focus on the target, and not what the mist user wants. since nicki always focuses on herself, she struggles to think about what the target wants to see.

the rest of her skills are similar to usual kids of hecate. she can practice necromancy and umbrakinesis. unlike the children of hades, her necromancy doesn't extend to raising and controlling the dead. all she can do in terms of necromancy is speak to the dead and raise them as apparitions to speak to others. still, it requires a lot of energy for her to raise apparitions, even at night. she usually faints after it, so her apparitions are usual a last call— if people want to interact with the dead, they'd turn to a child of hades instead. her umbrakinesis, the ability to control darkness, is specific to shadow travel. it took her the longest to manage this ability. it's easy to get lost in the shadows, and they could easily overtake anyone who isn't ready yet. but, now she is able to use the shadows to travel around the world, and even the underworld. however, like necromancy, it leaves her extremely exhausted. she can also manipulate darkness, from making a room dark to using it as a weapon. she can also see well in the dark, which makes it easy for her to travel around camp at night.

nicki holds fotia, the sword her mother gave her father when she was a baby. the sword collapsesinto a wrist watch (rotating the crown of the watch causes the bands to expand into a sword, with the clock part of the watch being the rain guard of the sword, one of the bands being the grip, and the other bnd being the actual blade.) since she's not one for combat, she doesn't use it a lot. however, she keeps it on her wrist for safe keeping.

other than that, nicki holds the same heightened abilities that other demigods have. she's one of the weaker kids at camp halfblood when it comes to physical abilities, but she's still strong enough to hold her own and her magic makes up for the rest.

pierre towers, father, 43, she and her dad are very close. after the run-in with the manticore, he realized just how much danger nicki faces. he spoils her a lot, and is the main cause of her large wardrobe and even larger ego. her father's a laidback man who shares his daughter's extroverted personality.

christine towers, grandmother, 70, her grandmother, on the other hand, is nowhere near as relaxed as her father. she's strict, overprotective, and a headache for nicki. still, she's very knowledgable and respected in new orleans. without a mother, christine was nicki's mother feature her entire life. ad she loves and respects her grandmother for that.
