A Question

I have a question:

Have any of you ever had an idea and want to write it but you get scared of doing so because you don't know if you'll pull it off?

As if it makes sense in your head but it might not make sense to others?

When that happens, what do you do to combat it? Do you just write it or do you simply discard the idea or do you tweak it to make it easier to write?

DEFINITELYYYYY!!!! 100% FACT. i have so many random ideas im really adamant on writing but i just feel as though it will literally flop so what do i do??? if i can mush some ideas together and make it work then i will. but if i cant (most likely the case T_T) ill write it down and keep it to aside in case of future changes.

Goodness, i can relate so damn much lol. many times, i end up not writing them...or starting the foreword/description, but never continue and in the end..just made them private...worse is, often they felt like they had potential to be your greatest ideas/fics if only the writing could do justice to how it came out in your head and often times i feel that i couldn't do that justice to them since the ideas sound so crazy yet so good if it could be written in a way that readers will get the exact feeling you're trying to deliver but that's the issue. i'm not that strong so i often succumb to my self doubts, and my lack of discipline didn't help. still, even with such thinking, i've manage to start writing countless of fics, and many of them end up abandoned yikes. that only made me more scared to pursue my ideas. even now...i'm battling myself for a crazy idea of rewriting my completed fic but from a different character's perspective...in a sense it shouldn't be that hard since the plot and characters have all been set but yeah...back to the question, i guess it just happens...when i feel like just going with it that strongly...i'll end up writing it anyway, but it's not like i am in any position to give any advice on this since...whenever i follow my heart/imagination and just write....there are times i made it to the end and felt satisfied with it, and there are also many times, they end up in limbo

Writing is an expression and part of that expression is to be able to share with people regardless of any classification. Though it would be wonderful to hear that people understand and that you can pull it off there will always be people who won't.
Authornim, I hope you just write your heart out. People will flock and read and love and comment but there will be bashers.
In an imperfect world, all we can hope for are for sincere readers and that you can inspire and help others through your writing.
Keep up the faith!

Yes, of course! I think everyone faces similar problems. First of all, no matter how crazy the idea in my head is I write it down (even if it's a couple of long chapters) and after writing everything I have in my mind i read it over and over again. If i feel like it is horrible and turned out to be much worse than my imagination I don't post it and no one will ever know and if it turned out great I post it! In both cases, I keep every draft I write and hardly delete any. Drafts that I thought were unacceptable as I grow I find them pretty much amazing and drafts that I once thought were perfect now i think they're actually pretty meeeehhhhhh.... To be brief: write down everything you have in your mind before you lose enthusiasm for the idea AND leave the decision of showing what you've written to people or not to when you have got a better idea of what you actually want. It's a win-win situation; if you end up liking it, you will share it with others, if you don't, you will read it when you're older and be happy (or will cringe) but eventually, you will either see how much you have developed or be able to develop the idea and put it into a greater project. best wishes.

First and foremost, I write for myself. Sure, some or the majority might not get it or see them same appeal as you do, but the ones that do, you'll cherish them the most. Also, I'm crazy about research so I put a lot of effort in it, but I write it and tweak it until I'm happy with it, and when it takes a year to write a story that isn't even that long in the end. When I'm happy with it, I'll post it. I have a few dropped stories, but it happens and it's totally fine, not everything always turns out the way you want it too. We all grow from it. :)

Almost all the time. I keep my story hidden again because that sounded stupid suddenly...😂

Yes, it happened and I did some research work on it like reading real-life incident on that situation and I did a little bit of background check on my character's work and then I read some fictional work similar to it too... I did it back in 2019 when I was active in writing. I didn't write it. I left my story at that point and it's still left like that. Di if you have time for research work and for plotting and planning your idea thoroughly then go for it, there are chances that people might even grasp it as it is (the chances might be even 0.001% but still a possiblity exists). I would suggest that you should go for it as you have originally planned. If you still have doubts then choose someone whose opinions on writing you mostly trust and tell that person your idea and if they grasps it then go for it.

I'll write it because I know I won't be satisfied if I don't.

I would write out all the details that comes to mind. Sometimes new things pop up while doing so. You can try and see how everything works first especially since creating worlds take time. Just write as much as you can and if you feel like it needs to be tweaked to be easier to write, you can do that. At least jot down the key points for things you wish to write first before discarding them. You can always come back to them later if you get stuck or run out of ideas at the moment.

I give it a try if the idea stay in my head, since one of my motivation to write is to clear my head from those ideas stuck in it.

You can still arrange it while or after writting it. I prefer discard a chapter written than an unexploited idea, fearing more regrets than "failing" to write about it since we can always improve our writing skills.

Take it as a challenge and an opportunity to improve .
