In desperate need of help!!!!

Hello!!!!

How are you doing??

I hope u all are doing fine.

So u see I am not much talkative here and only comment here and there on some author's stories I like. But I am writing cuz for me this is quite a problem at the moment.

so pls read and help/advice me.

So I am writing this cuz I am in DESPERATE need of HELP.

Y'all see I just started my first year of college 2 months ago. So becuz of Corona it remained closed for few months before. Due to which I've a veeerrrryyyyy short period of time before my Finals and.....as I was going to collge I was doimg quite good.

But u see once again due to the 2nd wave of this annoying virus my college is closed again and we are having online classes. They started a week ago.  I took the classes the first day but didn't understand much. So skipped them for a few days.

But now I am scared cuz u see I am not studying properly due my own laziness. And I feel like I am ruining myself as u see college is like the door to my future...and I have gained some weight which is also quite concerning.

So I thought why I don't ask someone who might've some experience. I mean some people here might have passed this stage right.

So please can u guys give me some kind of advice to HELP ME pls. Take this as plea or request.

I mean can u guys send me schedule/Time table or anything that might be able to help me once again to get good in studies and in health.

If you want tell me pls dm me or comment.

Bye and sorry for all this but as I told u for me this is a big prob

Heyyy, I Hope you're doing well!!

Don't worry. I bet every college/ uni student has been through this at some stage, and it's fine to panic; just don't let it stop you from moving forward.
Before anything, let me tell you that college/ uni life is the best, with its good and bad, so try to enjoy it as much as you can. And yes, I failed and repeated classes, was kicked out because I was late, was caught copying a friend's assignment (I got a zero for all my assignments), and had my lazy days. But I got through it. All I want to say, you are not alone.

I hope the following will help you:

- I'm not sure how you prefer to study, but group study always helps; you guys can discuss things you don't understand.
- Make sure you take a break while you study and do something you enjoy (sleep, go out with friends, movies, just chill on the couch and stare at the ceiling or gaming), whatever makes you happy and full of energy to get back to studying.
- Ask your professors for help if you don't understand anything, and don't wait till exam time; you'll definitely panic even more.
- Don't skip classes; for classes you missed, ask your professors if they have them recorded and review them. If not, ask a friend for help.
- Sleep, sleep, sleep! Try not to stay up all night, I promise you nothing can replace night sleep, and you'd be tired all day even if you take a nap; staying up all night is not worth it.
- Depending on how many subjects you have, divide them throughout the week, summarize, and highlight points you don't understand to discuss with your professors. Ask a friend or professor whatever suits you; don't skip it just because you don't get it and wait for the last minute.
- Finally, organize your study space; a messy desk would make it hard for anyone to concentrate or even have the will to study.

Though I'm fit, I should be the last one to advise about weight and a healthy lifestyle, but you can do this, count your steps through the day and try completing at least 8000 steps per day (if you have a Fitbit watch or any digital watch it will help you monitor your steps). Also, try not to skip breakfast; it's your morning energy fuel and will help you concentrate on your classes. For snacks, while you study, have nuts; they're healthy and filling.

I hope I helped even a little. Good luck with your studies. I wish you all the success in your life.

You've got great suggestions. I'll add only a few things more - make study your habit. If you study according to a time table for a couple of weeks then your body and brain will tell you to study. It just naturally happens.
Write inspiring quotes nicely on a paper and put it on your study table so that your eyes will often fall on it. (It works for me. My favorite one is - Dream is not what you see while sleeping. Dream is something that doesn't let you sleep.)
You may also need a push, a sword hanging above your head telling you to study. Write down at least five questions in the morning about what you did during the day. Like, have you studied that topic? Have you completed your work? - something along those lines but more specific. Answer those questions by the end of the day.
When you sit down for studying, it's hard to study for long hours. You need a small break. But a small break ends up becoming a big break. And by the time you realize it, it's already evening. Set a timer in your phone or alarm clock if you want to maintain some distance from your phone (I had to hide my phone until I actually started use my phone for the purpose of studying but it took a long time).
Lastly, it's nice to have a friend with whom you can study. Discuss what you studied in the day with them if not more. It doesn't necessarily need to be your classmate. I used to tell my mom and she doesn't even understand Physics. And be honest. There's no point in lying to yourself.
Always ask your teachers if you have any queries.
About weight, I don't know what to say because I'm skinny. I'm vegetarian and I don't exercise. But when I'm studying, I want to eat something. It's more about my mouth than stomach. So I eat roasted Soybeans. They aren't soft and my jaw gets tired of eating them so I don't have energy left to eat other things.
Drink loads of water too.
Focus is an important thing. Don't have useless thoughts in your head. Think only about the things that matter.
All of the things I've mentioned might seem easy but are harder when it comes to actual practice. I forgot about studying during lockdown but when we had exams, I had to study. After the exams ended, my masters was completed but I still wanted to study, a habit grown during exams. So I kept on studying. I didn't tell myself that now I should rest. I didn't rest for a day. One lazy day will coast too much. Make studying your habit. It's hard only at the beginning.
Good luck!

Forgot to say something.... keep your phone on a drawer as you study and do not multitask with news games or other websites as you watch your classes, try to focus as much as you can. If you can focus, you’ll get quality and that will lessen the number of hours you’ll need to study after some time.
As for exercises, you just need half an hour-40 minutes 4 days a week, increase intensity with time after you gain stamina. Once you have enough stamina you’ll need even less time to exercise as well.
I hope you didn’t find me too intruding, nor disrespectful. I hope you can do well, but whatever you gonna do just keep one thing in mind: things will not come easily or for free, they need work and that only depends on you.
Fighting!

My 1st suggestion for everything is: to establish a routine and treat as work. Don’t make excuses too, start studying as early as you can, I know in the pandemic we are stressed and anxious but don’t wait for motivation to come, do it even without motivation, just do it. You’d take sometime to be able to keep up but eventually you’ll manage an habit. Second, your classes happen live or are they recorded? If 2nd option, reserve the time of the day where you feel more ‘awake’ or can concentrate better to watch them... do not watch them passively, take notes even if at first you don’t understand. Don’t be afraid to go back and watch again if possible, review review review. If your exams are around the corner you might need to cram but on the long term just rereading your notes or practicing (if your major involves calculus or problem solving) a bit everyday will do the trick ( small doses of studying everyday aside the classes online - let’s say an hour- will prevent sleepless nights and desperation later). My kind of studying is different so I don’t think I can help with a time table but once you get with your other friend you should be able to start organizing yourself.
As for weight...this is tricky to ask here bc this involves a lot. If you have anxiety and is eating away it will be more difficult to hold the urges but the formula is exercises + eating healthily + persistence (habit).
For exercising, check out Chloe ting on YouTube she has good beginner exercisers and free programs on her website, pay attention on how they are supposed to be done so you don’t hurt yourself. Avoid exercises with a lot of impact if you have knee problems (watch at least one video and you’ll know that she shows a no impact exercise too). The first days hurt, not gonna lie, but after the first week you won’t feel any excruciating muscular pain. The point of exercise is to keep your heart beating fast to speed metabolism but if you feel like the exercise is too much stop rest then try to finish so you don’t strain your heart. Don’t be disappointed if you can’t keep it up at first stamina can be build. If you have space you can try to run too.
For eating... Carbs are not the enemy, you don’t need to starve or do any weird Kpop diet bc it is not sustainable in the long term. Too restricting diets will make you binge later and you don’t want to end up eating even more. Eating healthily means balancing and get rid of bad habits (too much salt, too much sugar, fried food, junk food, alcohol, processed foods). It’s not like if you want to change you’ll never eat these things again but these kinds of food are for once in a while. Eat 3-4 meals a day, but for loosing weight increase the protein intake, it helps bring water to the muscle and make it grow better once you exercise and it’s the protein that will make your belly feel satisfied for more time. Talking about water: sometimes being thirsty and being hungry means the same body signs so be sure to stay hydrated. If you drink a lot of liquids (you can include juice tea and coffee on that but try to avoid soda) the body will get the message that it doesn’t need to hold extra liquid so it will also help you.

Sorry that you're going through this, my friend. Congrats on starting collage!! I know many people are taking online classes quite hard, but don't worry about it it's all trial and error :) if I can be of any help I would love especially since I am in college myself (college freshman getting ready for the end of my fall 2020 semester) Since you mentioned time table, I mostly typed out a basic Google Docs - my class name, the date to begin to end, the time and the days they're on - I know this is probably confusing because I don't know your classes and you actually can't see my google docs I typed out. Since you're not talkative on here much if you have a discord I'm on that too in case you want to reach out outside of AFF: Mia M #6922 ^^ hopefully I can be of assistance, chingu <3
