It's just my opinion as a writer

Hello guys! It's me again. A fee days ago I logged in to my account to see that one of my (take note guys, Very very very) favorite author has published another story.

And being a trash for her stories I immediately clicked the subscribe button even before I can read the foreword.

But then, reading her foreword, I just felt I dont know, a little disappointed? I guess.

Now, dont get me wrong, it's nothing about the content or concept of her new story, it's what she said in her foreword that got me slumping my shoulders.

She just proposed that if she hasn't gotten a specific number of votes in a span of few days, then she'll be turning the whole fic down.

And then I was like, what?

I mean, It's disheartening to see authors forcing out a vote from readers when in fact you haven't even proven the worth of the story you published. I mean, of course I know the fulfilment it gives receiving upvotes and comments from my readers but you shouldn't write solely because of the benefit of getting votes.

I mean, are you supposed to write for fame? or are you supposed to wrote for leisure? Because I hell sure know why I write.

It's because of the fact that I write to relieve mental stress and now I just get going because I simply love to. It doesn't matter anymore whether people will or will not read it, I'll continue writing until I get tried of it, not because I dont receive lots of votes already.

AFF is the platform I used to escape from the world's toxicity every once in a while and seeing how other authors seem to be becoming toxic in here too makes me real sad.

Most of my readers were silent readers but I was grateful still for them, it was enough for me to know that somebody were reading my stories. Now, if they shared their thoughts or comments about it, then I'll be very much grateful for that. Because that's how it's supposed to be, comments and praises from other people should be heart fluttering, not supposed to grow your head.

You guys get me?

Once again sorry for the rant, I'm just really down after reading that statement, I mean she's one of my favorite authors and seeing how she said that made me feel a whole lot disheartened.

I hope she changes that kind of mindset.

We're all fighting battles others don't know about, so I hope she can find another way of coping up with stress. :'(

Exactly! So why need to force put votes? And she's such a great author! All she ever red to do is sit down and her story will immediately gather reads in just a few minutes. What she did made me feel very very disappointed. TT.TT

I know right? We're all here for our own reasons, I'm aware of that. But taking something down (something that's fruit of your blood and tears) just because you dont get enough votes, I believe that's so wrong. Very very wrong

ohhhhh!! thank god i came across this blog! thank you for bringing this up! tbh i always write a/n or messages to my readers that i’d really appreciate it if they comment o upvote my story! but i won’t ever take them down just because i receive lack of recognition! i mean i looooooove writing! eventhough im not as good :”D exploring the world of fiction, how my characters relationship evolves & how the plot/ thicken just gives me this satisfaction i can’t explain! :) i hope every author will not feel dishearten even if they can’t gather readers/comments/subs/upvotes. i think it’s important to give the story a chance & time for there will always be someone who come across the stories and fall in love with it!

This was awesome for you to bring up, chingu ^•^ I've never come across a disclaimer like that in a writer's foreword before but this is something interesting to talk about. I think we all know what it feels like to want our stories to be appreciated and that we feel happy to even see others reading it. I know you can feel down when your story isn't being viewed, but I can't imagine taking it down because of that. Granted, it's all up the author, but I can see why you would be disappointed.
Someone from here gave me good advice that I have stuck to when I worried about something I was writing because I knew some people wouldn't agree with something about it. She said, "don't write it for the people are going to not like it, but for the people who are going to love it"
I don't know, I know I'm not driven by fame or leisure when it comes to my writing. I love writing and I'm happy to share with lovely people who love it. I mean, what if later on you'll get people who will love the story and it's down you know? I just think about how much I love my work and the thought that others will love it too.
Thank you for bringing this up once again, chingu, it's nice to rant about things that may bother us or not but it's definitely a good topic to discuss ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
