bckground. Lucky Blue came from a broken family, unfortunately. Her parents are divorced, and she lived with her Canadian father in Canada, her mother having packed up and leaving them when she was only seven, her baby brother a infant. Her father adored and doted on her as a child, and so Lucky Blue is really used to having her way. At school, she was apart of the dance team and sang in the school's choir, having a strong sense of rhythm and pitch.

She never really got in touch with her Korean roots, but always felt like a part of her heritage was missing. Her father trying to help her out by paying for a korean language teacher to teach her the language, hoping that would fill the void of not knowing the korean culture. So when she was chosen to study at Seoul Broadcasting High School for a study abroad opportunity her junior year of highschool, she accepted and went on her way, meeting her host family for the first time, a family by the name of the Kims, a common enough last name, but she happened to stay with the family of Kim Namjoon. 

Namjoon was a bright kid, and had just returned from his own study abroad experience in New Zealand, and was more than eager to practice his English and help Lucky Blue with her Korean. The two got along quite well, surprisingly, and he revealed his music passion, to which Lucky Blue showed an interest in seeing him perform. And so the next underground rap show he was invited to, she tagged along as his plus one. And the atmosphere, the vibe, the sheer energy running through the place -- it was incredible. She was hooked, and wondered what it'd be like to be on the receiving end of the cheering and screaming that Namjoon was getting from her and the fellow crowd members.

She kept tagging along to the shows he performed at as he was invited even joining at one point when she realized that she enjoy rapping as much as dancing and singing, and eventually they both got noticed by BigHit, and when the agent saw Lucky Blue with him, immediately extended an invitation towards her, seeing as her visuals were well put together and fit the vibe of the area. While Lucky Blue was studying Dance and Music at the school she was currently in, she didn't think she had what it took to get into an entertainment company, and doing so would mean leaving her father behind for even more time than was originally planned.

Lucky Blue  stayed in Korea though, moving out of her host family's home and in her own apartment in the slum of Seoul and going to college part time. Lucky Blue kept up the name her and Namjoon made for themselves in the underground scene before being scouted by Big Hit and she signed.
