at the core of naseul's heart is her strong need to "belong" and her desire to serve a purpose or duty in life. there's always a longing in her heart to feel appreciated or valued by fitting into any role that can help her obtain that feeling. it comes from her strong sense of duty and responsibility to fulfill her obligations, even if sometimes they come from the expectations set by society rather than a personal drive. she thrives being around people and enjoys being apart of the crowd and the noise. she's the type of person that would go to talk to everyone and laugh with them at a party.

BACKGROUND.
♥ 1997 when naseul was born in the middle of the day, her father rushed from his office lunch break on a taxi and took the rest of the day off. at the time, her father was the senior manager of the finance department in the company he worked in while her mother had taken a leave from working at the neighbourhood florist shop.
naseul grew up being taken care of by her brother or older relatives whenever their parents were gone and when their parents were present, they showered them with love while teaching them self-discipline and were strict on manners and ethics with them. the "seulseul" siblings had always been reminded to be nice to others and growing up, they never forgot that lesson.
♥ 2007 she started to find an interest in music. she knew she had always been better at playing her brother's guitar than he did and she knew she has a better voice than he does so why not start dreaming of being a singer or musician? her parents would ask her a couple of times if she was dead serious about that dream of hers. naseul would answer every time that she doesn't want to close the door completely just yet. her parents would give her several talks on studying hard at school and trying to find the right dream job for her. she listened. after all, she was only ten years old at the time.
♥ 2013 the moment of truth. over the years, she became more sure of her dream but her parents were against it to some extent. they strictly told her that they were going to let her pursue her dreams after she graduated high school. she used a loophole in their words and enrolled in the department of practical music at the school of performing arts seoul as she really wanted to learn more about music. her parents allowed her that, at least. at the time, she began living in a two bedroom apartment space with her brother, who was going to enroll in kyunghee university that same year.
♥ 2016 she did sometimes try to go to auditions over the years she was a high schooler but she always failed to pass them. she became quite dejected as she continued to face failure so she decided that she wanted to enjoy her high school life as a full-time student. it was only after she graduated that she attended auditions again. the first few auditions she went to resulted in failure but the one time she passed, she managed to pass her audition for jyp entertainment and started her training period there.

seulong and naseul, self-proclaiming themselves as the "seulseul siblings", have always been close. despite being opposites, it works for them. seulong is always ready to help his younger sister and in the face of a problem, takes the rational approach instead of naseul's emotional approach so he tells her the truth whether she likes it or not. behind all that, he cares for her more than she knows. he doesn't baby her as it doesn't match his logic to treats the adult she is like a baby, so he does spoil her a lot whenever possible. currently serving in the military, naseul writes him handwritten letters a lot and mails it to them. when she debuts, she'll even ask the other members to write for him and give him a signed album. it's almost certain that his fellow soldiers will freak out.

debuting in the same group doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be best friends with each other but this would have to force you to get along with some people you barely know. she's definitely closer to the undesirable as the oldest member had always been so dedicated and so well-mannered to everyone around them. the unappreciated and her are quite close, she takes care of the unappreciated at all times and encourages her to show off her charms. she always asks the debated to watch her moves and give her feedback. the best dancer by far in the group, the debated will help gather naseul's confidence in dancing. perhaps, the scandalous is the one she is on awkward terms with. the company seems to continue to pit the two against each other and it's creating a rift in the personal relationship between naseul and the scandalous. they were on friendly terms before debut but now, perhaps not so much.
SOPA '97 LINERS. unexpected mix of idols.
in the three years she attended the school of performing arts seoul, she often found herself sharing the same homeroom with now-idols who may have been then-idol trainees. the idols she was able to form a close bond with would be lee jangjun of golden child, jung chayeon of dia, kim jiho of oh my girl and choi yuna "yuju" of g-friend. she is noticeably close to these idols mentioned and they share a lot to each other. she has a specific group chat with these idols and another girls-only group chat without jangjun. naseul could always rely on her idol friends for advice or for comfort because they've gone through the same hardships as a trainee. they give strength and support to one another so whenever they bump into each other during schedules and music shows, they always take pictures after greeting each other warmly. even if it takes a lot for them to be able to meet up, the group chat is always in action for a reason. naseul loved being friends with these people. they are her supporters, just as she is to them.

when go eun was added to the lineup, naseul reacted like many others. confused and perhaps a bit resentful. naseul and go eun were able to drop the formalities the second week go eun was added. they aren't on hostile terms, but it would take a while for eun to be able to be close to naseul. sometimes, go eun forgets and texts naseul with a formal tone which naseul will always remind her to drop in text or in person. naseul will eventually warm up to eun and they can start to slowly build a bridge between them. naseul knows that there's a probability that eun is being ostracized by the other members and does some efforts not to be included in the half of the members who do distance themselves from eun. it's obvious to naseul that eun is closer to the scandalous so it's a relief that eun is on friendly terms with someone in the group.

unlike eun who receives some sharp eyes from everyone else, duri is the opposite. duri gets along with the rest of her members well and naseul isn't an exception to that. she's a really fun little sister figure to naseul as she's always so full of energy it seems. her mind is full of ideas and naseul does enjoy listening to what she has in store. they help each other in times of hardships and can be seen joking around together a lot. duri's loyalty to her members warms naseul's heart so how could naseul ever hate the younger girl? she was nearly shattered when she heard of the possibility of duri not debuting but luckily, it was a false alarm.

the manager that has to handle all the girls, yeonwoo is like an older brother figure to naseul though he tries his best to keep personal and professional issues two separate worlds. naseul is one of the members that follows the rules yeonwoo sets for them and rarely acts out of the line. the only time naseul would approach him for permission to go out would be when she would go to visit seulong when he's on leave from his military service. naseul does keep a distance from yeonwoo but wants to be able to get along with him well to the point where she can be comfortable enough to talk to him.

THE DAMAGE CONTROL. the member who everyone (perhaps, even the members) thinks is the most unproblematic and well-received by the public. there are many praises that she never disappoints through her live vocals and musicality. seeing as the scandalous is quite problematic, the company may have to succumb to the netizen's ideas of adopting naseul as the sole center/face of the group or both naseul and the scandalous as joint centers or face of the group. naseul will always step up to help clear out the bad comments gained from the articles the scandalous is in, making her somewhat in charge of damage control.

♥ JYP ENTERTAINMENT although there was an internal fear inside her that she started training later than others, there was never a 'too late' in life and if you don't start somewhere, you'll never start at all. she was a dilligent trainee who always expressed her hunger to learn more. she always wanted to practice more, asked a lot of questions during lessons and put in more hours into practicing her dance skills after everyone else left. she also got along well with the other trainees who were present.
she had no more school to attend, anyways so this was something that led to her dedicating her everyday to this tough training schedule. she never complained to anyone whenever her emotions would go on its own rollercoaster ride. she explored all sorts of diet methods and really listened during the lessons of mental health at jyp. all of this didn't make her fully understand who she was, though. there was always this notion to follow the system and the wanted image as well as to get into character but she found that she didn't even know herself too well to be able to explore her charms. her emotions hit another low and she left after a year, officially saying that it was very unlikely that she would debut any time sooner after the immense success of twice.
♥ BOX ENTERTAINMENT she took it a bit easy with life to rediscover herself after leaving jyp ent. she did some busking events at hongdae road where she did covers of pop songs or current k-pop or korean r&b songs. it was then that she was scouted by a box ent. staff person. she judged things with her emotions so when her heart screamed at her to take the second chance, she took it. that's how she became a trainee again. this time, at box entertainment.
she was a faster learner than she was during her time at jyp ent. the way she approached things at box entertainment was different. this was a new side of her. she was more calm and collected emotionally. it was certain that she shined brighter at box entertainment. everyone liked her, meaning the staff, the trainers and the other trainees. they were all certain she was going to debut. she was known for her voice, the soothing lyrics she sang as she covered songs from the likes of iu or taeyeon or heize. her self-discipline was something others wanted. she took to consideration what she was eating and building muscle around her body. she reinvented the way she danced, as she focused more on getting into character and having efficient power in her movements. overall, she was a trainee who knew who she was, what she's good at and can make those around her shine.

many netizens discuss over who should be the center of pandora. naseul's name is quite often brought up and there seems to be a mutual agreement in the discussion forum that kwon naseul is a better and less problematic fit for the center of pandora, rather than the scandalous. sure, the scandalous gets more exposure and is the most popular but why can't box entertainment see that naseul has more positive reviews and comments?
box entertainment would never let out a statement confirming the center of the group but it's noticeable between the members that they also agree that naseul being god naseul is their reliable center. she was just unlucky that another member became more popular and got more exposure than her so the approach most suitable for pandora is to have naseul and the scandalous as the two main centers of the group.

perhaps, during an interview or a talk show, naseul says something that could lead to the interpretation that the members have had conflicts or tension in the past and present. she would say something along the lines of "it's normal for us to not get along with everyone in our classroom so when it's six members in a group living together and spending a lot of time together, it's also possible that there are some rifts between us. we try to get through it but some take longer than others." this would lead to a lot of misleading article titles and rumors.

hangyul lives to push his passions. he changes a lot during the day due to the open mind he has when he's approaching his daily life with a grounded warmth. he wakes up one person and by the time he's getting ready to fall asleep, he's become another person. he enjoys living in his world, surrounded by people and ideas that can be reinvented or experimented. he doesn't have the same need to "belong" and the desire to fulfill expectations like naseul. he does know when he has to step away to recharge himself. he knows when he needs to think about himself and self-introspect. he tries to live every day being happy with who he is.

♥ FIRST MEETING if you asked the two, they would ponder or think about it before there is a clear answer. they've known each other since they could remember si the memories of their first meeting was rather blurry. seulong would tell them that they first said hello to each other because they played together with the other neighbourhood kids and that they were also placed in the same nursery school.
♥ THEIR LONG HISTORY they're each other best friends, yes. the kind that would come into your house without knocking. the kind that your parents get along with. their families know each other and the two know just about all of each other's secrets. over the years, they both agree that their friendship comes from companionship and trust. people often ask them if they really are just friends and they'd answer yes. "gosh, people really don't understand the idea of platonic friendships around here", hangyul would sigh as he told naseul.
being one whose sensitive to others, hangyul grew up respecting the line naseul drew for him. he always walked on eggshells whenever she had her period, left her to herself whenever she tells so, and sugarcoats the facts she has to hear. that way, he's staying miles within the line. naseul trusts him with her gossip and her stories and can always enjoy having conversations that stem from the curious mind he has and the ideas he has. she always praises the way he would never cut between or interrupt her stories.
♥ DEVELOPMENTS they met up after both saying that they have news to tell. naseul's masked grin as she exclaimed that she started being a trainee at box entertainment was fully wiped off when hangyul told her he's going to enlist in the air force next month. he reasoned with her that it's better he enlisted sooner than later. "who knows, when i finish, you'll already be this mega superstar?" he tried to comfort her. she didn't like the dry comfort he tried to give her. she wished him good luck and they exchanged some advice to each other. since that day, they naturally lost contact over the time she trained at box entertainment. she was fully focused on making her way up the ranks while he was probably doing the same in his military service. they found out how each other was doing through seulong (who wasn't enlisting at the time) or their moms.
♥ CURRENT SITUATION they do miss being each other's best friends but hangyul knew better than to casually walk back into being her best friend. she was too nice for her own good and would never try to jeopardize their friendship by "bothering" him during his enlistment. hangyul will finish his military service by the time pandora debuts and he'll try to return to naseul's new life as a changed person. his time in the air force has taught him some lessons and one of them is that the relationships you keep in life are precious.
naseul has always been loyal to her friends and if hangyul comes back into her life, she'll also step up to show that she's also changed. she knows that she could never throw him away and knowing him, he was probably too. he'll always be an important friend to her. they're going to have to start over where they left off and navigate through what has changed in the two years they've grown into their identities. naseul, the main vocalist of pandora and hangyul, the returning computer science student.
they'll always have each other's backs to fall on when things get tough and the return of hangyul's presence as well as her brother enlisting would mean that naseul will find her way back to hangyul as she did in the past. as he's always done in the past to avoid being scolded by her, hangyul will wait and listen to all her stories without cutting in between them.
