Rant on Covid-19

so i am a retail pharmacy tech in all of this. the company i work for is not exactly providing for us like i personally think they should.

but masks we can only get two of per week when most, if not all, of us work more than twice a week (the masks we use i have read should be changed every 4 hours and they aren't fabric masks so you can't wash them),

gloves though we only can get one pair of a day (if you are using gloves properly, you will change them more than just once. really everytime you change to touch something else would you change them because the bacterial/germs/virus is and can be on anything. it's call cross-conamtination otherwise),

we had to store supply everything we have now (they sent front store one box of masks and pharmacy one box of masks, the same size box we sell on the shelf. they have not sent rubbing alcohol, they have not sent gloves, they have not sent any cleaning supplies. what we have is what we have got from our truck we get every two weeks. what we have it what we store supply so we can try to keep the store clean. but what we have we have to take from the people just to keep our store clean rather than have stuff sent to us so we can sell more cleaning supplies to the people.)

maybe three, four extra hours, (that's not much if you want me to be honest, because that is barely enough time for anyone to be on shift because we still have to function like a normal company and also clean all the counters and anything that is frequently touched. so that means we have to stop doing what we are doing (counting pills, typing scripts) or clean while ringing people out at pick-up and drive-thru. that is also if it isn't added to someone else who is working so that the person either stays an hour later, or the person comes in an hour earlier and does this multiple times a week.

honestly, i am very thankful to have a job, i know thousands of people dont, but at the same time, we, workers, are on the front lines of this and while we are making money, the possiblity of us getting sick is higher, and the hospital bill will be a lot higher than my paycheck i get every 2 weeks.

and it's tiring, because it's not exactly like people have the paitence to deal with the public, they didn't before, but it's twice as bad because people are expecting us to know everything, or do everything to keep them safe when we are barely keeping ourselves safe. it also doesn't help that people decide to swarm us instead of staying home like that are supposed to.

and social distancing does not exist apperently when it ing should. -.- people are sick and in the town i work in, we have 5 cases and growing (it's a small town so five doesn't seem like much, but it is a small town so 5 is a lot. and that is just in the town, not the county we live in)

and this is just a rant for retail, lord knows that hospitals need all of this just as much as we do, but they don't either! in fact, i have read where some doctors and nurses have talked about having to reuse their face masks just because they do not have any more! do people not understand how bad that is? how much of a health hazard that is? it's just pure upsetting to me that health care, in this pandemic, is still being disregarded in need for safety.

and this rant hasn't even included retail that works in selling groceries and warehouses

because i could go on and on about how people are abusing them -.-

in simple words, just stay the home, stay the home and calm the down.

freaking out over all of this, spam buying and not only spam buying, but buying in bulk. it's not helping anyone and in most places, you can not   return that -.-

i'm just tired of all of this , i mean seriously, if we all just calmed down rather than freak out, then i think we could focus more on this, on what would better ourselves.

but most people are just being selfish and not even caring about anything but themselves and it is just disappointing.

A friend of mine just left her job (healthcare related) because her management was treating its workers poorly with things like no PPE. It's so unfair that she had to pick between wages and her own safety. Please stay safe and thank you for all your work.

I work as a pharm tech and relate to your situation so well. PPEs are hard to come by now and I find myself dealing with a lot of rude customers during this pandemic. I have to clean the store hourly, and that takes up a lot of time from filling and typing in prescriptions. What is that a lot customers tend to show up at the time I am scheduled to clean...

I hope you’re taking care of yourself! This will all pass, and hopefully things will return to normal very soon. Take care and stay safe, fellow pharm tech :)
