Jae is another nickname that's commonly used by students of Summit High but it started ever since she was back in Seoul. Jaehwa also prefers to be called 'Jae' rather than Jaehwa.
sports queen / queen bae / captain bae
"As always, our Sports Queen never disappoints!"

faceclaim rocket punch's yeonhee
appearance
Standing at 163cm and weighing 48kg, Jaehwa is considered to be quite skinny and tall - at least that's what she's heard from her friends. She has a relatively small face and you'll always see her rosy lips curved up into a bright smile as she greets the students of Summit High. She dyed her hair blonde ever since she moved to Tolstone and as of currently, she dyes it regularly to maintain the color. A very atheletic girl who has sunkissed skin due to how many hours she spends under the sun.
style
Jaehwa prefers to be in sports wear than other clothes. Most of her pants consist of sport shorts, biker shorts, tracks and sweatpants. For tops, she goes for crop tops, graphic tees or just wears a track jacket over her sports bra. Her shoes are either sneakers or sport shoes and dislikes wearing slippers or sandals. The one thing that does make her style stand out just a tad bit is the fact that most of her clothings are in various shades of pink, red or black.

"GO QUEEN BAE, GO!"

The cheer coming from the seats of Summit High students filled her ears. But the loud beating of her heart drowns the cheers that are meant for her.

Her coaches look at her with confidence and determination while her teammates give her passionate gazes. They know she can do it.

"You're the best Jaehwa," she feels a bead of sweat trickle down her forehead, "The best."

The first thing you'd notice about Jaehwa is the warm and friendly aura that surrounds her. Her presence is not easy to ignore due to how cheery and bright she seems to the point she seems to steal the spotlight of the room. A social butterfly who enjoys being surrounded by people and someone people enjoy being around in return. She's also not afraid to speak up her mind and often times will be the first person to defend her teammates if she feels someone is being unfair to them. Almost like an open book, when Jaehwa has opinions, thoughts or ideas - she'll make them known and have people listen to them. The independant 'leader' of her sports' team, she's always working her best to lead her team to victory together with her.

However, Jaehwa tends to follow her heart more than her mind which has brought her trouble more than she'd like to admit. Her impulsive behaviour is sometimes deemed to be reckless and it's the main thing that her coaches and teammates scold and remind her about. Ever since moving to Summit High, there's not much known about Jaehwa besides the basics of her family and background. Most people don't notice her secretive behaviour, especially if it comes to herself. Another thing about Jaehwa is the fact that she's a 'live-in-the-moment' sort of person which makes her unstructured, as pointed out by close friends. She tends to say 'yes' to everything and deems herself able to juggle everything that comes her way to the point her friends have to step in and get her head straight.

background

Born and raised in Seoul, Jaehwa was once a student attending YISS [Yongsan International School of Seoul] where most of her friends were the ones she met in kindergarden and stuck with her up until the end of middle school. It was at YISS did Jaehwa manage to find her talent and passion for sports and decided to pursue it.

Back at YISS, Jaehwa was just as popular with the students and teachers due to her academic and curricular achievements which made her become a 'role student' of sorts. And she really did enjoy her time and YISS and is sure that if she continued at YISS, she would surely be just as successful.

However, at the beginning of her final year in middle school did news break out about her mother and father deciding to move to Tolstone for work reasons. When the news came to her, Jaehwa was hostile towards it as she disliked the idea of moving away from the same group of people she hanged around with since elementary days. But, no matter how much she pleaded and protested - the Bae family still moved to Tolstone and Jaehwa was forced to pretend that everything was going to be alright.

Transferring in the middle of her first year at high school proved to be a slight challenge for her since she had to find new people to hang around with. So, she toughens it out with a bright smile and the same mindset she had with sports, "If you don't succeed at first, try and try again."

As of currently, Jaehwa is the resident sports-fanatic of Summit High where she continues to bring glory to her new school.

GRADE 11th grade
 SCHEDULE/lifestyle
Her schedule for the weekdays is nearly similar every single day!
She wakes up at around 5.45/6.00am for light stretches and because she knows she takes a slightly longer time getting ready. She heads to school at around 7.00/6.50am and goes home at around 3.15/4.15pm.

There's Art Club on Wednesdays but it's not every week and depends on the president - if there is Art Club, it ends at 2.30/3pm.

(new) Her schedule mainly changes during sports' season!
During track and field season, she'll usually have practice 3-4 times a week. Mainly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and/or Wednesdays. They're free to come in for practice on their own on weekends but Jaehwa only goes for weekends when it's near a competition. Practices end at around 3.30/4pm.
During basketball season, practice is usually held 3 times a week. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Practices are held after school until 4pm.
During netball season, practice is held 3 times a week. Practices are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On weekdays, it's up until 3pm but on weekends, it's from 9am to 1/2pm.

When Jaehwa arrives at home, she'll most likely eat something, take a bath before knocking out on bed for a good hour or two. Homework and studying are usually done at around 8pm and she makes sure to sleep by midnight.

For weekends, Jaehwa wakes up at around 11am and goes to bed at midnight. Sometimes, there will be sports practice if they have a competition coming up and if that does happen, she'll be up at 7am, heading to school at 8am and coming home at 3pm.

On weekends, Jaehwa's usually playing basketball with her friends at the court or attending a study group at the library. If she truly doesn't have any schedules that day, she'll most likely be at home sleeping in and studying by herself.

 SCHOOL

Observing Jaehwa, a lot of people do envy how she's able to juggle both her academics and still continues being active in sports and club activites despite her schedule. However, it all comes down to Jaehwa being ready in case sports doesn't work out for her. Balancing both academic and curricular activites to make sure she has a good chance in both in case one doesn't work out for her.

Jaehwa doesn't hold any grudge or ill-feelings towards school because she does understand where the pressure is coming from. It's an important period of a student's life and everyone expects everyone to do well! Although her parent's don't pressure her to take anything and let Jaehwa take matters into her own hand ever since moving to Summit High, Jaehwa doesn't want to let anyone down.

Sure, Queen Bae might seem like she's an airhead from time to time but the passion and determination that she shows in her sports is reflected in her grades as well. Of course, pressure from the coaches, teachers and students of Summit High does get to her head from time to time but she's aware of how to deal with it. She can't push herself too hard in worry that she'll burn out too quickly.

Somi Jeon / 17 / best friend/ teammate
"Get a move on Queen Bae - I don't wanna get scolded by coach again."
One of the first people who befriended Jaehwa when she first moved to Summit, Somi soon became Jaehwa's best friend. A member of the track and netball team, they share similar schedules which made them bond quicker. They live close together and often go to school and come back together. Spends most of their weekends together with either them playing netball or chilling at home.

Summit High sports team / 16-18 / good friends
"Coach, Bae's late again! We'll go look for her~"
Jaehwa is on good terms with her sports members and they all support each other fiercely during competitions and know how to cheer up the team if they experience a loss. The members are almost like family to her with how close everyone is and how they're willing to help each other perfect their performance. (new) While she only plays for track and field, netball and basketball - anyone who's anyone on a sports team is a friend of hers. She might not know everyone very closely but she knows them enough to know who plays for what category.

Raon 'Summer' Kang / 18 / (new) close friend
"Bae, don't forget - you still owe me an exclusive scoop for the newspaper!"
Jaehwa first met Summer when the newspaper club was interested in interviewing Jaehwa when she won first place during her first competition after moving to Summit High. Ever since then, the two have been good friends with Jaehwa always promising Mer first interview/scoops whenever she wins a competition. (new) Jaehwa and Mer hangout often in school, after school and would often clear their schedule to meet up. Jaehwa's also gone to Summer to get a few tips on studying and Mer's been the one to advise Jaehwa whenever the athlete seems to lose focus on her academic grades or even help Jaehwa to arrange her schedule when it's a busy season. Jaehwa's also pretty sure Mer wrote or had some part in writing the first article about her with the title 'Queen Bae takes first win for Summit High' which made the nickname popular amongst the students. Mer calls her 'Queen Bae' on the daily now but Jaehwa still has yet to stop being flustered over the over-the-top-nickname.

Samuel Kang / 18 / friend
"Sup, Jae. Heard you won another competition, congrats."
While not being particularly close, Samuel and Jaehwa do talk from time to time. She first knew about him through Somi and managed to meet him when she was talking to Mer that one time. They'll talk to each other if they bump at school and Samuel replies to her instagram stories, usually congratulating her team.

Ross Reid / 18 / close friend / at the crushing stage / (new) captain of the track and field team aka track captain
"Yes! J.J another win! CelebrATION TIME!"
The current captain of the track team, he quickly took Jaehwa under his wing when she first arrived and made her feel included with the rest of the team members. Their passion for sports is a huge factor why they became close very quickly but after a while, they started being able to converse in things other than sports. Since Ross is focusing on his studies for his senior year, Jaehwa helps out the best she can with maintaining the sports committee. Their hangouts are usually basketball dates or hanging around the mall to de-stress.

hello, thank you for agreeing to meet me for an interview! i'm allie jeong from newspaper, and if you don't mind, please state your grade and name.
"Hey, no worries - always down for an interview. It's nice to meet you as well, Allie," Jaehwa already knows Allie from previous newspaper interviews but this would be a first time she's been interviewd by Allie,  "My name is Jaehwa Bae and I'm currently in the 11th grade."
great! now, my story this issue will be about stress levels at summit high. would you say that you are stressed regularly because of schoolwork?
"Hmm, I do get stressed from time time especially if there's a ton of schoolwork given on an already busy period," Jaehwa runs a hand through her hair as she starts thinking a little more, "And I'm also an active member of our sports team and art club - stress is bound to come."
about how many hours a week do you spend studying on average?
Her fingers start to count down the hours, "Around.. 20 to 30 hours? Depends on if I have a lot of practice sessions or meetings but I do try to squeeze in as much studying as I can."
what other factors in your life other than school gives you stress?
"For me, it's the pressure to continue to do well once you raised the bar for yourself. And I'm not just talking about sports - it's quite general. Once you do very well one time, people will expect the same results every single time," she sighs, "It gets... challenging sometimes."
do you have a message towards the faculty at summit high about students and stress levels?
"I kinda hope that teachers would realize that the students are already stressed enough from the pressure to get into good universities. They don't have to remind us every single time that 'this is the most important time for you' because we know, we know.
thank you for your answers, and you're free to leave! please look forward to next month's issue of the summit gazette.
"Thank you for having me! I'll look forward to it, definitely," she stands up and starts to leave, waving goodbye.

scene requests i'll do my best to fulfill them ^_____^
