reason to ship...? (+ don't the 2 songs at the end of the post sound...too similar?)

So....long story cut short....some clips on yt...led me to watch a whole series of 32 eps of this Chinese (web?)drama called My Girlfriend's Boyfriend in 2 days...well it's from 2017 so some or many of you probly know it way before myself....but for those who don't....here's a 3 min preview from the official channel...and to think i haven't been motivated enough to watch dramas for years...and yet finished this in 2 days. hmm.

though i'd rather use this one below as a preview...since you're most likely going to ship this anyway...for the right or wrong reason...according to me.

(how do i love the reference Adam used as wanting to be Ah Zhai's Doraemon...because, both Adam and Doraemon are robots from the future...and both Ah Zhai and Nobita kinda behave in the same way...wait...were they modeled after Nobita and Doraemon? no wonder i feel for them...although i don't ship Nobita n Doraemon in that way....since back then i was a kid anyway...hmm.....)

and if you never watched and now feel like watching, here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-qn-eiR753eskOIWr0XziZu2eirsSihj

and as usual...i like to read comments then unnecessarily get triggered, take offense, and think too much of them....pfft...

so....which brings us back to the subject today...

Reason to ship....

i saw so many comments being negative...because they want Ah Zhai and Adam to be together bcuz they just want BL and girlie can go die (even though probly 90% of them are girlies themselves...snort)...technology...new ideologies...messages have dumbed down people a lot that they just go saying stupid things most time everyday and feeling proud thinking they're being intelligent n open minded snort...but i won't go into details of that...let's just stick to the topic for now...

so...Ah Zhai was often portrayed as a jerk in the first season/half of the drama....hate him for it...it'd be fair enough....for how good Adam treat him and love him unconditionally(even for robot's standard), he surely almost never even show gratefulness and always create troubles or say hurtful things until later in the drama when he started to appreciate and care for Adam so much more than he does for Eve/Peini the love of his life and he didn't even realize it till the end...

but to hate him bcuz he refused to accept Adam to be his lover, bcuz he's straight? and refused to have his ual orientation changed that he'd rather say things like 'if only you're a girl' to Adam and 'maybe in next life we can be together'....instead of changing his orientation to gay just cuz...

seriously.....if you so believe you're gay/lesbian but you're forced to be straight bcuz someone of the opposite gender loves you unconditionally...would you feel it's fair to be forced in such a way? or to be scolded for not succumbing to the expectation caused by someone else's love for you whom you believe you can't return bcuz of your orientation so called? the hypocrisy...

so...why does Ah Zhai need to change his orientation for Adam's love when he's straight? i swear these days...straight people are treated as dirt...yknow...the world has become such flipped in every way...in a sense that i'm scared and i know the end is very near...and it reminds me of my dad's words that he didn't want to be alive when the world ends...well, good for him...as much as i want to say such thing with confidence too...religiously, i don't think i'm good enough yet to even be in the same place as my parents...it'd be stupid to wish for it when i know i can't even handle the afterlife with how much/little i've invested...even though really...death don't care if you're prepared or not...when it's your time...it's just time to face the consequences of the choices you made in life while you had time and wasted them...

anyway, again...let's go back to the topic...again...

oh by the way, before that....in Adam's program, he sees/is to treat Ah Zhai as a girl...so...he's not gaybot too...apparently....as you can see here

during the dance scene, he told Ah Zhai to imagine himself as the most beautiful princess....before correcting himself....and i don't think it's a coincidence they chose actors such height differences for Ah Zhai and Adam to create that illusion...btw...i love that dance scene especially because the accompanying music...can someone tell me the title of that instrumental pls? i think the dance scene is probly in top5 fav scene of them, another i really loved is the scene/ep where Ah Zhai opened up to tell about himself and to apologize and thank him sincerely for the first time(since he previously already did a lot of fake ones to get rid of Adam)...he explained in such earnest way that it felt so sincere and....actually, it's almost like a confession scene....even a robot was touched he didn't know how to react. Adam even asked if he's considered a friend now, and Ah Zhai said, more than a friend...and if Ah Zhai really well, liked Adam the way we want him to....this was like...the moment, he kind of realized it to an extent but not acknowledge it of course...and of course such beautiful moment of connection can't last too long before Eve ruined it big time...

well...back to the topic again

so...reason to ship....

people complaining of the drama's ending...and trashing it....bcuz Ah Zhai and Adam didn't end together or even kissed.....not because of the story/plot dragging during Eve's personality changes and the fact that Eve was very poorly written/developed that it's almost impossible to root for her to love/be loved bcuz she hardly has any depth at all...she's a robot but doesn't seem/act like a robot...and yet she doesn't emote as human yet at random time...she overemote to the point you'd think if it's Peini already back and nobody realize it's her instead of Eve...in short...the female lead characters were just written very very badly....even Peini...i don't get the essence of her character....it's all over the place...and she never interacted with Ah Zhai yet towards the end...she came back to....Ah Zhai's house? whaaat? they never even had any whatsoever communication let alone relationship...Ah Zhai was just one of her fans...the only possibility is bcuz the dean already called her to come back bcuz of the robots discovery....though i'm a bit confused bcuz supposedly the memory has been wiped away from everyone(but not sure about Peini since she's so called abroad so the pink bunny guy probly forgot to erased hers? idk...it still isn't enough sense to have her come back so casually to Ah Zhai's place like eh???) anyway, yeah...Eve and Peini were very one dimensional characters...even the other minor female characters were more interesting than them...

there are valid reasons to trash it...yet people trash it for the dumbest reasons....what's wrong with the ending Ah Zhai living happily and lovingly as family with both Adam and Eve and appreciate them both as his loyal companions that teach him how to love and connect with the world away from his loneliness and isolation...? it's beautiful....their love and sacrifices for each other is beautiful....Ah Zhai loves Eve(or so he'd want to believe....even Ah Zhai's love for Eve was actually portrayed shallowly...bcuz there's absolutely no reason/actual connection to make his love for her believable other than she's made to look like Peini his idol) but Eve loves Adam and Adam loves Ah Zhai. which in Adam and Eve cases, they're both robots, and programmed to love the first person they see. but they all bonded enough for Ah Zhai to teach the robots that there are different kind of love that could fit them all other than pursuing romantically like he earlier intended which i believed he learned from how Adam always care for them n protect him....and bcuz they all love each other so much they chose to have none of them going for the other bcuz they're all in one sided love romantically, but they share greater love for each other and that's enough for them. (though the ending better not mean Ah Zhai will be with Peini....who....idk...had no problem getting with another guy once she reach Japan right after she broke up with her ex and disappeared the entire story and suddenly appear at the end at Ah Zhai's place even when they never interacted at all... so what are the chances she can even love Ah Zhai quarter as much as Eve let alone Adam? she doesn't deserve Ah Zhai at all...and Ah Zhai certainly don't deserve her either...)

anyway, i think the drama gradually delves love in deeper sense as the story went further....which made it very special and beautiful and tasteful....so...i really don't get all the sourness towards the end...even though personally i myself would love a happy ending with just Ah Zhai and Adam and Eve out of the picture bcuz she doesn't fit in naturally as the other two...but that's my selfishness....does it make the actual ending 'bad' bcuz it's different than what i want? naw...

i too, ship Ah Zhai and Adam....not bcuz it's BL!!!....but because obviously...Adam loved him so much(even if it's programmed...he consistently made it really believable..) and...towards the later part of the drama....Ah Zhai had grown to outlove his love for Eve with his love for Adam(even if he wouldn't admit it)...which wasn't grandly declared anywhere but can be seen in how he started to worry and cared for him more than he thought of Eve....how he always reached for Adam first...how he'd do crazy things for Adam and bawled his eyes out for Adam....while adding Eve's name later on to make us believe he loved both equally yeah right....afterall, it's natural he'd end up having more connection with Adam....Eve rarely interacted with him other than to talk about Adam whom she's bound to....but Adam has deeper emotion due to his modules so he's able to connect deeper emotionally with Ah Zhai...and they actually talked a lot....during the scene when Adam and Eve reminisce of their memories with Ah Zhai when his memory of them had been cleared....i had to cringe that Eve's memories mostly wasn't even hers....they're either her 4 other personalities and the dance scene wasn't even her....it's her dancing with Ah Zhai in Ah Zhai's imagination while he was actually dancing with Adam...so how did that get in her memory and made her cry...like...puhleeze....

i ship them bcuz the chemistry is definitely there(so much that i want another drama with these two...BL pls, hahaha../slapself/)....and the one sided love is kinda a guilty pleasure for me too, unintentionally...but ship them just bcuz they're both boys and BL ftw?! cmon...they're not your BL puppets to fulfill your fantasies...go buy your own luv robot....

if Eve was written better to the point that it's worthy of her to be rivals with Adam for Ah Zhai or even rivals with Ah Zhai for Adam....she could actually give competition to break Ah Zhai-Adam ship...but bcuz she's the opposite of what could've been...this ship is rock solid for me....not bcuz she's a girl boo straight....that's just....dumb.

for me...Adam's unconditional love for Ah Zhai just made me feel, even if he's robot and his emotions were set by program but since his module is more advanced than Eve's...it's like he's able to grow depths within his programmed emotions and actually feel beyond what he's set to feel...and even changed Ah Zhai who intially despised Adam to the core...and it's the change in Ah Zhai that made them more shipable than earlier in the series bcuz now you start to see it as a two way feelings/relationship...even if they chose to treat it as non-romantic....i ship them so much that it doesn't matter if they don't end up lovers bcuz you know they'll be happy as long as they're together and not separated...without having to kiss or have just to satisfy ye shallow beings...their love is deeper than that....in a way...it reminded me when i wrote Floral Rain....i aspired to portray that kind of love....a love that grows to be more than friends, but not lovers...bcuz of their gender restrictions since i imagine of my characters as real people in real fictional world and not fantasy-dolls after all. but well, yknow my plans failed bcuz my feelings on behalf of them grown to be too strong and uncontrollable that the characters couldn't keep their feelings ambiguous in their mind or actions...but when i wrote of them....i didn't focus on their ual orientation as a direct obstacle they'd talk about like in many fics i read these days...bcuz to me, it wasn't their biggest obstacle...and it's never about ual orientation....love is just love. just bcuz the person a guy fell in love with happened to be a guy...doesn't mean he'd fall in love with other guys too and that he's certified gay. afterall, my main character in the fic...only loved once, and never again....so...who are we to tell him he's gay or bi or what? he just loved who he loved until the end even as he was left to grow old alone and it's simple as that.

oops, went offtopic there...lol...

i guess if i have another complaint...it's fine if the boys don't kiss or get together since they supposedly don't mutually like each other in that way(even if it's more on Ah Zhai's resistance and decision to remain straight which we should respect)...but what i'm annoyed about is...despite none of them got together, but of all of them, Eve got part of what she wanted to and kissed Adam(even if one sided)...why is she of all ppl get what she wants? okay..granted, it was Eve in one of her alternate identities but it's still her...if anything, Adam and Ah Zhai both deserved more compensation/reward....Adam sacrificed a lot for Ah Zhai and Ah Zhai sacrificed/suffered a lot for Eve...although to be fair....Ah Zhai did cause a lot/most of the problems with her program disruption...and the cause of Eve turning into her past identities...(though i'd argue that's scriptwriter n director's fault...not really Ah Zhai lol)....but Eve didn't do anything that'd deserve her to get what she wants....while the other two did so much...Eve didn't even suffer half as much even if the amount of her cries would suggest the otherwise...even if she does....she had like...no feelings...besides obsessing Adam....granted like i said...Adam and Eve are both robots...so their feelings are set in stone....there's no way they'd change love interest...and the only one who could change...is Ah Zhai...since he's the human...and we can see, at the beginning, he was horrified and disgusted by Adam and loathed him...but towards the end...he couldn't imagine living without Adam...while his obsession for Eve seemed to have grown lesser(i mean, it's not like she'd do anything for his sake...as someone who grew up lonely all his life...it's obvious Ah Zhai won't be able to stay immune forever to the one who cares more for him than the one he cares more for)....if Ah Zhai and Adam can't get what they want....what makes Eve more worthy of getting anything she want? don't even get me started with Peini....i don't think they'll do season 3 of the drama since it seems it ended already....but the ending when Peini came to Ah Zhai's house and they quickly put the pink bunny head on Eve to hide her away since she's Peini's clone of sorts just got me suspicious...if anything....Peini didn't deserve happy ending or any reward/compensation even moreee than Eve....especially not in this story....she might deserve it...but in her own story....since she's never really played any part in Ah Zhai's story in reality....just like how Eve's 'memories' with Ah Zhai were mostly...not even real memories but scenes of his imagination and of her alternate identities she's not even aware of....

okay, one more thing that annoyed me is that kid whom Eve's alternate identity just picked up to live with them...and the kid started judging n bossing Ah Zhai around rudely and nobody found that very off putting? cmon...why do kids get free pass for every trash behaviour? this is how they grew up to be monsters...i know ppl will say it's not their fault blabla....but if it's not their fault...well, should they just be let to continue with such behaviour without being corrected? i remember walking past my primary school one day when i was in university or sth...and kids below 10 yrs were spewing vulgar language like nobody's business n it's just horrifying...even when little kids act rude/nasty at public places....mostly their parents don't even say a thing...

well,...of course though the real focus of the drama was about Ah Zhai and Adam even if the drama doesn't outright say it aloud...just look at the title 'my girlfriend's boyfriend'....so the boyfriend is especially the focus in the title...and of course the narrator...which both refer to Adam and Ah Zhai respectively.

i don't mind their love never materialized romantically....bcuz it shows there are love deeper than romantic/physical one...and even if this is still considered happy ending for them since they continue to live together like a family(with Eve)....and even if i feel that Ah Zhai and Adam relationship is heavily implied and 'read between the lines' kinda relationship...especially referring to Ah Zhai's feelings for Adam...since Adam and Eve are both very straightforward being the robots they were...but Ah Zhai is one of us....real people don't always say things as it is, they don't always do what they want, they don't mean what they say/do....that's what make them human...their complexity...their imperfection....why you expect him to be ideal like robot? yeah...that'd make everything simpler and happier....but it doesn't differentiate humans from robot....i do hope Adam at least realize the nuances in Ah Zhai's expression...because in the series, when Ah Zhai started being more openly showing care for Adam....they start to not focus on Adam's reaction unlike when Ah Zhai treated him badly....like....wth...they don't deserve that...the show tried so hard to make Eve the central that they'd downplay meaningful moments of Ah Zhai with Adam just so that their ship don't overtake Ah Zhai-Eve(or even Eve-Adam) even though they already did....by a long shot....with or without the recognition.

okay i'm done. not quite but, oh well...

so what's the point of this post? i feel like i did the same thing as those who complained....i share same hopes/desires/disappointment with them....i just have different reasoning...and different evaluation of it....i'm disappointed but it doesn't make the drama worth trashing(except for poor characterization of Eve)...eh...i feel like i just did same thing but trying to justify my reasoning....and mostly...what i did was spazzed a bunch....i just wanna spazz on my ship there i said it...lol.

i hope you watched some of the vid at least and fall into the ship and feel free to spazz with me...but ship for the right reason...sure, who am i to decide? but if you ship for those shallow reasons i despise, don't let me know...keep it to yourself thanks.

let's end this post with some songs from the drama...

^ i like this one but idk the lyrics...since no subs...and it appears Eve's actress sing it...

^ this one seems more popular with fans....and somebody subbed it..and the lyrics is totally beautiful....this is totally Adam-Ah Zhai theme from the lyrics...definitely. no doubt.

^ nothing much bout this one...just the opening jingle which was apparently sung by the actor who played Ah Zhai...

and.... the main character here...the main reason i'm sharing the songs here....dundundun...listen to this one below....

and then this...

Tell me i'm not the crazy one who find these two songs very similar somewhat...? the instrumental.....lol...i love both songs though...naturally...haa. ehh....anyway...have you watched KARA's dramas? people might trash DSP...but idk other company that gave their top groups each a solo song according to the members' music preference like with SS501 and KARA(KARA even had mvs for each songs starred popular/trendy actors, too bad for SS501...even though they're bigger than KARA during their time though they didn't conquer Japan like KARA did...at least with their solos, i leant Park Jungmin had the best taste in music...well, one that resonates the most with me....bcuz....he actually did song with Loveholic...and even his solo albums continued to give me good impression of his music taste) and DSP gave each member of KARA a drama of their own with popular actors...i think i've only watched two-three of the dramas....firstly Gyuri of course since she's my fav since the start n i love how lighthearted n cheesy dreamy her drama is..but it's truly Jiyoung's story that wrecked me....it's sooooo painful yet in such beautiful way....it makes it even more painful....but you can't even hate it....plsplspls watch it if you have time...
