Valerie is reminded of how privileged she is once her Muggleborn colleagues start disappearing one-by-one, whether it's because they go on the run like Odette Grimond does or because they get sent to Azkaban. She'd like to help the Muggleborns who haven't been imprisoned yet, but she doesn't know how to and she also values her employment at the Ministry of Magic. Especially since her mother is a Wizengamot member, Valerie knows she can't jeopardize her family by sticking out her neck for random Muggleborns, but it doesn't necessarily feel right to sit back and do nothing.

Valerie is very careful and cautious, even when she is making seemingly insignificant decisions. To her, every choice makes a notable impact on her life, no matter how big or small it is, so she carefully weighs the pros and cons of each situation before fully committing to anything. Valerie is also aware of how unfair and unfulfilling life can be, regardless of how intelligent and capable a person is. Life favors the lucky, not the talented, so she ensures that she is always ready to fly through any doors that may serendipitiously open for her. But constantly preparing for these unknown opportunities has also left her extremely jaded, especially when Valerie sees others mindlessly squandering away precious chances, and she has no sympathy for such foolish people. While she doesn't scorn idealism, she is mature enough to think realistically about the life choices that she makes and not fall into the trap of building a fantasy-like future for herself like most young people do. Valerie knows the difference between a realistic dream that is attainable with enough hard work and a silly pipe dream that one should not irresponsibly chase after.

Valerie grew up being recognized by many strangers who were fans of her father since he was a professional Quidditch player. Even after he retired, people regularly came up to her father to ask for an autograph and/or a photo, so Valerie learned to ignore these unwelcome stares if this happened whenever she was with him. Once she arrived at Hogwarts, Valerie was sorted into Ravenclaw and she focused on her studies, but it was extremely aggravating whenever she had to fend off any Quidditch-obsessed students who wanted to know more about her father. Unlike her sister who was a star Quidditch player at school, Valerie had no interest in the sport and wanted to solely work on her academics so she could be like her mother instead. Being successful in the Ministry was more enticing to Valerie than being a professional athlete was. After graduating from Hogwarts, Valerie joined the Improper Use of Magic Office from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Magic which was headed by Dolores Umbridge. In time, Valerie became even more jaded due to working under Umbridge, a well-known tyrant who had cheated her way to the top. So it was a joyous occasion for everyone in the office when Umbridge was promoted to Senior Undersecretary for the Minister of Magic and Valerie hoped to never cross paths with her former boss ever again.

comments Here is Valerie, who is my last character in general for CtF, and that means I'm done with all of my apps! :D Wow, what a journey it's been and the story hasn't even started yet. ^^; It feels weird that I won't be making a bunch of character sheets for this story anymore and it's crazy to see how I've become so invested, even more than I already was when you first announced the project. :') Okay, I'll stop here, since this'll get too long otherwise. ^^; Anyway, I hope you like her and I'm excited for CtF to finally start! :)
