OTHER NAMES
- Little Byeol | Little Byeol, meaning little star. Yohan created this name for her and is the only one who uses it. It's a form of endearment according to him because Byeol is his little star that is always with him.
- Brat | Used by Yohan and only Yohan because she would kill anyone else who uses it. She almost killed Yohan the first time he called her a brat, but she couldn't stop it and eventually just gave up on trying to stop him from calling her a brat. She doesn't necessarily like it, but it is coming from Yohan and she knows if he's calling her a 'brat' she needs to check herself.

THE POSITIVE Strong-willed, Assertive, Straight-forward, Dependable
Dependable is another word that comes to mind when speaking with those who are close to her. They all know that whenever Byeol agrees to do something or show up somewhere, she will do it and will be there and on time. She doesn’t like letting people down and will always do her best to make sure she holds to her word. The same kind of effort she wants from other people.

— Byeol has her driver's license and recently, finally, bought a new car. Her new car being a 2018 Honda Civic in white. Her old car, an extremely used 2002 Honda Accord was breaking down.

"JUST SO WE'RE CLEAR, I'M NOT HITTING ON YOU. MY MOM SENT ME TO TALK TO YOU." - JY
Byeol and Yohan didn’t automatically click as friends nor best friends. Byeol and Yohan met officially for the first time at a church banquet, that they were both forced to go to, when they were freshmen in high school. Their mom’s had met the week prior at mass and thus forced their children to meet at the church banquet that was scheduled for the following week. Sure enough, Byeol was there with her mom on the grounds that if she didn’t attend the church banquet she couldn’t go out with her friends next weekend. Yohan was there on the grounds that he if didn’t go he wouldn’t be able to leave the house to hang out with friends for a month. So there they were, both at the church banquet.
Byeol’s mom had wandered off somewhere and she was left alone at an empty table to entertain herself as she ate. The next thing she knows, Yohan is slipping into the empty seat next to her with a plate full of food. Byeol immediately looked at him and before she could speak he spoke, “Hi. Just so we’re clear, I’m not hitting on you. My mom sent me to talk to you. If you look across the room, you’ll notice that both our moms are staring at us, hoping we’ll get along. I want tonight to be as painless as possible, so let’s just pretend to get along, okay?”
Byeol looked up across the room and sure enough, her mom was giggling with another lady, whom she assumed was Yohan’s mom. Byeol rolled her eyes before speaking, “Ugh, of course she would. Sure, might as well give them something to watch so time would fly by.”
Yohan chuckled, “Glad we can agree on that. I’m Yohan by the way.”
“The name’s Byeol.”
The rest of the night was fairly painless, despite the fact that they immediately began to notice that they were complete opposites. They were definitely not each other’s cup of tea, but for the sake of wasting time and keeping their mom’s out of their ears, they tried to make the best of it.
After their first meeting it was as if they were each other’s destinies because that’s when they started to notice each other in school and in classes. Kiwoo was excited that they finally got to know one another because he had tried to set them up on a blind date just a few weeks prior, but they both disagreed. However, since the church banquet they never went out of their way to talk. When at church mass, they’d exchange a word or two to make their mom’s happy, but that was it.
"OKAY. MAYBE YOU'RE NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT." - CB
The two continued their acquaintanceship until their junior year of high school. They were assigned science lap partners as well as science project partners, go figure. Science never came easy for Byeol and if it wasn’t for Yohan, she probably would have left the class as clueless as she was when she went in. Whenever she didn’t understand something, he would explain and re-explain it however many times she needed in order for her to understand. He showed her patience. He didn’t get frustrated when she didn’t understand the first, or second time he explained it. Byeol didn’t know it, but she let him in slowly. Yohan found Byeol a lot more adorable than he thought she could ever be and finally found a weak spot against her. They talked a lot during class, both about science work, school work and slowly life at home. Byeol worked up the courage to ask him to lunch one day and he said yes. After that first lunch “date”, they started having lunch more often. Not every day, but multiple times a day.
“You’re not as bad as I thought,” Byeol confessed on their last day of junior year as they were leaving science class, both with a B+ on their final projects.
Yohan only laughed, “And you’re not so bad yourself, Little Byeol. You’re not so bad yourself.”
That summer was when their friendship blossomed. From friends to best friends their senior year of high school. They became almost inseparable. Their friendship wasn’t easy as Byeol had to learn how to not be such a “brat”, as Yohan would call her, when she wouldn’t get her way with her mom and with him. Yohan on the other hand had to learn how to stand up for his feelings against Byeol especially when she said something out of line. The two pushed at each other’s buttons, but at the end of the day they both knew that they were only doing it because they cared about each other.
The two continued their friendship into college where they both decided to attend the same university, Konkuk University. After the first year of living in the dorms, they moved in together along with a third roommate to make the cost of living cheaper. They grew even closer. They grew to know each other’s living habits and learned the things the other did that would drive them incredibly crazy. They spent so much time together, you would think that they were a couple. They also spent many drunk nights together, one drunk night that they both remember.
It was after their hell of a final’s week their junior year of college. It was hell to say the least for them both. Yohan’s girlfriend of a year broke it off with him over text a week prior to finals week and Byeol’s boyfriend of ten months had broken up with just two days after. A breakup right before and final’s week was horrible and the two of them just wanted to let loose. So of course, they decided to take each other out. They went to the club originally, but then found themselves with a few bottles of Soju at home, in their apartment. Giggling, crying, ranting and just living in the moment together.
“You know Yohan, relationships,” Byeol stated firmly after taking a shot of Soju.
“They’re honestly the worst,” Yohan chimed in after taking his own shot.
“We give these people all our hearts and they just rip it apart like it’s, like it’s nothing,” Byeol cried softly before she angrily wiped the tears from her cheeks.
Yohan stayed silent as he watched her, frowning seeing her tears. He hated it the most when she cried. He reached out and pushed a strand of her hair back behind her ear before helping her wipe her tears away.
“Hey Byeol. If, by the time we’re both 28, and we’re both single and just over people, wanna get married?” Yohan asked cautiously, his hand lingering against her cheek. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe his deepest desires were coming out or maybe it was a mixture of both, but he just felt compelled to say it. He was tired of seeing her, his best friend, get screwed over by the boys who claimed to love her. Of course he, at one point in their friendship felt more than just a friendship for Byeol, but he was always too scared to say anything. Plus, she never hesitated in denying that they weren’t together or a couple when they were asked by strangers in public. He was friend zoned, no doubt about it.
Byeol stared at him, wide eyed as she tried to process what he asked. Her heart was beating a million times per minute. Was he confessing? Or was he saying those words out of pity? Or was he just trying to make her feel less alone?
Yohan laughed awkwardly seeing her reaction and drew his hand away, “Forget I said anything. It was stupid of me to say it.”
Byeol blinked quickly and held onto his wrist speaking quickly, “If by the time we’re 28 and we’re single, lets get married, Yohan.”
She could feel her cheeks flush with heat. She had liked Yohan back in high school, but she didn’t want to say anything because he was actively pursuing another girl. She pushed those feelings back so he could be happy.
Yohan couldn’t help but smile while he pulled his hand away and ruffled her hair.
“We’re idiots, but okay. If by the time we’re 28 and we’re single, lets get married, my Little Byeol.”
Needless to say the next morning, the two pretended as if they didn’t remember the conversation they had. They both remembered it, but played it off as if they didn’t because if the other one said they didn’t remember then why embarrass themselves?
The two moved on and pushed that night to the back of their minds. Once they graduated college with their master’s degree they decided to move out and live with other people. They felt the needed a little space to themselves, but settled on meeting at least once a week to catch up and just spend time with each other. Since they moved out with each other at the age of 25, they’ve been consistent in spending at least one night out of the week together.
They both liked each other more than a friend at one point in their relationship, but each time their timing was off and they were cowards. This time however, the timing just seems right. They're both 28. They're both single. They both haven't been in a relationship for a while. This time, they’re both ready to risk it all. If they confess and the other doesn’t reciprocate their feelings, hopefully their ten plus years of friendship will help them get through it. Now it's just a waiting game on who will confess first.
i also hope you don't mind the length- i got carried away and well here we are ;;
— byeol and yohan spending sunday together with their moms

— yohan hinting at the "promise" they made to each other, either through a letter or maybe a bottle of soju with a sticker?
