PERSONALITY: 
(+) Woorin takes great attention to detail - from the way people talk, the small behaviours they do without thinking and the way they act around certain people. she's an attentive person who takes notice to the people around her. she's also empathetic - being able to connect with people's emotions and relate to them. she truly shows concerns for the people she cares. she'll listen to your rants, even if she can't give advice - she'll be there for you. it's caused her to become a very patient person, someone willing to wait and stick by your side when everyone else leaves you. she doesn't get annoyed or angry easily. not only that, she's known to be LOYAL as well. ONCE YOU GAIN HER TRUST, SHE'LL STICK BY YOUR SIDE UNTIL THE END OF THE EARTH AND WILL DEFEND YOU UNTIL THE END. 

(-)cowardly, that's one of the traits she has. she has trouble speaking up her own opinions or act on her own even if she knows it's right. words carry power and for woorin's case, it's difficult for her to distinguish between words that are meant as a light joke or true criticism. she's (over)sensitive with others's words, searching for hidden meanings that don't exist. if she catches your tone a little higher or snappy than usual, she'll automatically assume that you're angry at her and thus, she'll think all of your words are aimed at hurting her feelings. maybe it's one of the reason that she's a withdrawn person. the trauma from her schooling days in seoul turned her into someone that was afraid of socialising in fear of the same events happening. she stays away from meeting new people and it takes a long time for her to trust anyone. woorin is also quite impulsive - shown when she does certain actions out of fear or paranoia. such as the times she's confonted someone she thought was stalking her when all the person wanted was to return her book that she left behind.


BACKGROUND: tw for mentions of suicide and self-harm

woorin grew up under the strict supervision of her parents. they weren't people with high power but they were people with high expectations. they enrolled woorin to a lot of extra classes, pushing her to become the loner she was known for back in seoul. she didn't have any time to herself, always dedicated to studying. she grew up under emotional abuse and it took a toll on her family and herself. 

her parents were always fighting, woorin never remembered a day where she felt safe in her own house. they would be screaming and woorin would hear her name thrown here and there and she was always convinced that her parents hated her. they had never shown any love or care for her well-being. the sound of their yells still haunt her nights and falling asleep turned out to be a war she rarely won.

woorin was constantly belittled by her parents, her grades never being enough no matter how hard she studied. she started developing insomnia and anxiety issues - always afraid to go back home to face the two people she feared the most in the world. she had no one to talk to about her situation and the bullying at school did nothing to help her. she was labelled as an easy target; quiet, no status and no friends to report to. 

the bullying, pressure, emotional abuse back home was enough to drive her to her tipping point. in the hours where her parents would be at each other's throats, woorin would be curled up in the corner of her room - her small paper cutter dragged along the pale skin of her arm. 

she was disgrace, an accident, a mistake - just someone who wasn't meant to be here at all. she started stealing her mother's sleeping pills, taking one every night just to help her fall asleep to escape from having to hear her parents arguements. 

she became a closed-off person. she would go to school, finish up her homework at the study hall after school ended and went back home when the day was about to get dark. her bullies never failed to catch some alone time with her every day and she had given up on fighting them back. she was just turned - tired of life.

at the age of 16, woorin's parents both filed for divorce and neither of them wanted to keep woorin. imagined how it broke the girl to find out the two people she lived to satisfy their expectations both didn't want her to be in their lives anymore. so, the girl is sent off to live with her grandmother that she had never met and was forced to live there. 

her grandmother was a very loving and caring person, she tried her best to make woorin feel at home but woorin was still in doubts. even the people at school seemed pretty nice to her but woorin was still afraid to open up to anyone - fearing that she'd be bullied again. 

she began to wonder if she even deserved to be loved, cared for or even looked at - her life was a mess, a mess that didn't have anymore meaning to living. 

a few months since she had moved to tongyeong, woorin decided it was time to end it all.

it was suppose to be easy. all she had to do was jump from the top of the school building and everything else would end. as she stood at the edge on the wall, her eyes looked down and fluttered closed before slowly... she leaned forward.

"it's a nice weather, don't you think so?"
 
the voice came to her and immediately, her eyes shot open. 
"I was thinking of getting some ice cream and i heard there's a buy 1 free 1 sale today," the stranger continued to rattle on, "I like ice cream but not that much, you know? it would a total waste."

woorin was confused by the sudden girl. how did she get up here so quietly? 

"you're not suppose to be here."

"neither are you but look at us now," she answered, a smile still evident on her face. "i don't know why you're doing this but something tells me some ice cream could do you some good. so, what do you say?"

junhee offers her hand out and woorin carefully, very carefully, takes the offered hand and steps down from the wall. junhee doesn't let her hand go as they walk down the school building and ditch their next classes.

junhee bought her ice cream and spent the rest of the day just talking. she was such a cheerful person, someone that woorin hadn't known she needed until she met her. junhee made her feel accepted, she made woorin feel her life finally had somesort of silver lining in it. junhee soon introduced her to her group of friends and all of them seemed to accept her without much questions. 

high school passed like a wonderful breeze. woorin spent those years with the group of friends that became like family to her. sure, the group fought once in a while, got into trouble together but it was those precious memories that made woorin hold onto them dearly.

but all good things come to an end and woorin's happy period came to a stop. a few months before graduation, her grandmother passes away and after graduation, woorin is forced to return back to seoul to live with her mother. with promises of keeping in touch with all of them, woorin tearfully leaves the only place she's ever called home.
