nanako is loud. she's the one everyone hears before they see, and she's the first one to greet anyone who happens to walk by. she's loud and outgoing and always ready to make friends, and she's touchy-feely, always hanging onto the person next to her. you'll never find her alone, and you'll never find her quiet. she's usually smiling or laughing or talking to her friends. she's also a great friend; she supports you no matter what you do, and she'll always make herself available as a shoulder to cry on or just someone to rant to. that's one of the rare times she'll be quiet. she genuinely cares about her friends' wellbeings, and she's willing to do anything to make sure her friends are happy. she's also extremely hardworking. she doesn't feel like she has many natural talents, so she works extra hard to keep up and improve.

but, as all things come, as vocal as nanako is good, it's also bad. she's whiny. like, as . she'll always complain about anything slightly inconvenient, and you bet your she's the one groaning and about being put on a diet, or practicing until 2am, or sharing a bathroom with so many other girls... and on top of that, she's stubborn. she won't listen to a single thing anyone tells her unless they're authority or she thinks it sounds somewhat logical. she always says she'll change, but in reality, she keeps it up for like two days and then goes back to her own ways. she also has a tendency to say things without thinking, which makes her seem insensitive to other ppl's feelings. in reality, she might not really be like that, but it depends on her mood. some days, she just feels mean.

background nanako was born in osaka. her father was a businessman who mostly worked in china, so before she could form memories, she moved to china. she grew up and went to school at the foreign school of beijing. her mother loved to sing and would always sing traditional japanese songs to her, but nanako preferred the trendy music. in 2007, when she was ten, she got into hey say jump, and then her dad dropped the bomb that one of the members, okamoto keito, was actually her cousin. they met up, and he taught her some simple training exercises. but from then on, she knew she wanted to be a popstar, and her parents were pretty okay with that, funding voice lessons and entering her in competitions. before she was 14, nanako was fairly well-known in the area she lived in, and she was somewhat of a local celebrity. of course, she did get teased for it, but she had friends who supported her. in 2014, when nanako was 17, she had the chance to audition for sm in a global audition and made it in.

TRAINING nanako knew she could sing, but she didn't really focus on dance. when she made it into sljk-g, she found that most everyone else already had a lot more experience than she did. she quickly realized that she couldn't go through this alone and bonded with some other trainees, and they helped each other improve in each other's weak areas. tl;dr: she worked mostly on dance skills and found friends who could help her improve her weaknesses.

nanako doesn't hate [member], per se, but it always seems like they have something against her. no matter how she tries to get along, this member just keeps being shady, and nanako eventually gives up on trying to be friends. now, they silently compete against each other, usually for the center part or vocal parts. [it's even better if they act all friendly around the others so that no one else knows they're rivals].

personality yuta's sort of quiet, but that's only because you don't know him. when you get to know him, he's an actual crackhead but also impossibly sweet. he's like an older brother who loves to tease but also is afraid to hurt you. he notices and remembers the small details like your coffee order so he can make sure he treats you right^TM. he's also a sass king and won't tolerate any . the only thing is, though, he can be broody and uncommunicative when he's in a bad mood. he also tends to have anger outbursts and it's dramatic as . [i'm sorry idk nct that well hhtjdgfd i hope i did my boi justice]

love story at first, they were just partners because japanese ppl, you know? nanako didn't think that he would actually talk to her off-camera because he always seemed like he didn't genuinely like working with her, but he did. he willingly struck up conversations with her - in japanese, nonetheless - and they became great friends off-camera. at some point, they became close enough that tv shows began to comment on it, and fans speculated that they were actually secretly dating.

then, in 2019, they went out for food together because it was late at night and they were hungry kids. they thought they were safe, but in reality, a fan caught them on camera, and it became the biggest scandal of 2019 (gasp). maybe sm took nanako off for a while, maybe they took yuta off for a while, or maybe they just released a statement that they weren't involved romantically, but in any case, it made nanako really sad because she didn't think that being caught with a friend would be such a big deal. yuta stopped talking to her after that to clear up any confusion, and she started to miss him.

and it wasn't just the normal kind of missing :(

[i'm sorry it's sort of late and i'm sort of tired, but basically, she doesn't realize that she likes yuta until that point, and the scandal made her realize that she had been repressing her romantic feelings for him. maybe they can get over it and get together, or maybe this is the end. or, maybe there's ~drama~ with yuta and another member - better yet, nanako's rival - and she just loses it LOL. that would be fun to see.]
