What type of Kpop fan are you?

Nonchalant fan

The Nonchalant fan is probably not going to be found reading or writing fanfics. This is the fan who is not really a fan. This is that person who has friends who are into kpop. This is an open minded person who will listen to kpop tunes, may even download songs but won't go as far as learning band names, member names and other details regarding groups. Doesn't really care to know too much.

Closet fan

The Closet fan is the fan who hides his/her interest in kpop from other people. May range from casual, avid to obsessive, no one but he/she knows. Kpop is a private part of this person's life that he/she doesn't want to share. This fan refuses to mingle with other fans in person but may be actively interacting with fans online.

Casual fan

A Casual fan follows his/her favourite groups musically, knows about schedules and upcoming activities as shared by kpop sites. This fan knows what's happening in the kpop world. Only follows favourite groups however and may now and then listen to other groups who get hype (via kpop news sites) to see what's up. This is a fan who doesn't worship the faves. If the faves have a comeback the Casual fan doesn't like, this fan won't stream or try to like it. This fan stays away from fan wars, trolls etc but enjoys reading the comments. This fan may own some albums and some merch. Every now and then the Casual fan may look for new groups to stan or good music and browse places like 1theK on YouTube. May not keep track of faves personal information such as birthdays, siblings, birthplace, background etc. May read and write fanfics but be extremely shy about this irl. May have some pictures of idols on phone. May or may not have other friends who are into kpop, will not actively go looking to make friends with others who are into kpop.

Avid fan

The Avid fan is an enthusiastic fan. This fan knows more than the Casual fan. Where the Casual fan may not bother with birthdays, siblings, background of their faves, this fan knows all the facts. This is the fan who sees Korea, their faves and Korean people through rose coloured glasses. Will try and get hands on as much merch as financially possible. The Avid fan streams all of faves comebacks, may get aggressive if someone else has a different opinion on faves. Is extremely defensive about faves. For example, will defend all plastic surgery rumors with 'people change as they get older.' Will read fanfics, may even write them. Has a phone oversaturated with pictures of idols. This fan dreams of going to Korea one day and going to kpop concerts. While the Avid fan is super loyal to faves, this fan is also conscious of other groups in faves company earning the 'company stan' title. The Avid fan has lots of love to give when it comes to kpop and will support other group comebacks outside of faves company. The Avid fan really loves kpop and most likely won't listen to anything outside of kpop. Is more likely to know yesterday's nugu group debut song than the latest Ariana Grande song. Will actively look for friends with the same hobby and look down on Casual and Nonchalant fans.

Obsessive fan

Also known as the 'sasaeng' fan. This fan was born taking a pledge to worship his/her idol. Likes to buy merch, take part in fandom projects, go to concerts, tries to get noticed in concerts, gets offended by any perceived threat towards fave including dating scandals, plastic surgery rumors, scandals involving the courtroom. Will defend faves till death. Knows everything about faves. Wants to go to Korea and manage to achieve this goal one day. Will stalk fave despite the distance from own country and where fave is. If fave ever comes to visit this fans country, the obsessive fan will stalk the hell out of fave. Does all the sasaeng behaviours. Is the most loyal fan out there but is also a big invader of personal space. Certified troll, keyboard warrior and promoter of fave.

Which are you?

Disclaimer: you could be either one of the above or a mix of two types.

Like most of the previous comments, I' m a mixture of avid and casual fan as well. but I have to say that the statement "The Avid fan really loves kpop and most likely won't listen to anything outside of kpop. Is more likely to know yesterday's nugu group debut song than the latest Ariana Grande song." is so true for me. Whereas before, I was so into so much of u.s. shows and artists, nowadays, for the past 3 yrs, I have not voluntarily watched any news or shows or hear songs outside of the kpop and hallyu universe. so much so that I know more Korean celebrities than local celebrities.

I’m a mixture of a Closet, casual and avid fan?
Tbh Kpop is like, a whole new section of me? I kind of keep it private but it’s mostly because no one around me is into it and I feel they won’t be open minded? And that they’d judge me.
I consider myself a casual fan because I’m not the best with keeping up with groups and I don’t always buy the album or merch. And I’m so slow with adding in new groups but I’m not sure if it’s because I’m picky or if this new gen just isn’t for me?
Avid fan because I do save a lot of pictures and write fanfics and read them. And I guess I would like to learn korean and maybe visit or just go to a concert

Mix of casual and avid fan. I wrote fanfics and such because it's my hobby but y'know I'm not into much of kpop when I reached college. Sometimes, I don't care at all. I don't buy albums because I put money on good use or something that is for a long term use. I even forgot my faves' bday. XD I'm only into their music and sometimes funny moments and fanfics now

A mix of Casual and Avid XD
Won't go out of my way to buy albums or merch and don't really defend faves if the rumor is true (like SNSD is all natural beauty, what?) so that makes me a casual but I know quite a lot of bds, siblings, names and all of other kpop idols even if not faves and that makes me quite an Avid.
