mixed feelings

so i accidentally won a bidding for arcanum... i was only playing around on the advertising calender, didnt expect to win as i never win bids... then i won the bid.

im having mixed feelings because im happy that i won a bid but the thing is, the co author and i are thinking of scrapping the entire story and rewriting everything. the only catch is that we dont know when we'll be rewriting the story because of our commitments to studies and work right now in our real lives.

and to win an advertising bid for a story that is about to be scrapped and dont have a planned date to release the new version, i dont know what to tell the readers. i feel like im deceiving them by advertising, winning said advertisement and generate readers but they dont get updates on the story. i didnt intend to win the bid as i was only fooling around on the calender like i always do, placing bids slowly and to back out when bids get beaten. i dont know why but this time, out of previous years of attempting to bid stories, i won now when i am busy with my real life.

i dont know what to tell the new readers and the old readers. someone commented that since ive advertised it, does it mean that we'll be updating...

let me just hide in a hole.

Random person here just passing through. I'm sorry you won (boy that sounded wrong) but just be honest with your readers. Your old and new readers won't hate you for it. They tend to be very open-minded and would accept any decisions you make as you're the author. But gosh, I envy everyone who fools around on the calendar and actually wins. And here I am, struggling to win any of the dates. I only won twice but I had to spend over 6k for both spots. One spot was 9k but I was the only bidder, or so the system says. It was pretty intense and brutal xD

Ooo...

I see your problem. I think you just put an announcement explaining the situation about having the postpone the story a bit further and just delay it. I'm sure your subbies will understand.

This happened to me once. I changed my mind halfway about a fic while bidding was still on and I begged almost everyone I knew on AFF to outbid me cause I didn't want the spot. However, they didn't have the karma to do it and nobody outbid me either. I just switched to advertise a completed fic instead, not the one I gave up writing.
